It’s December 31, a.k.a. New Year’s Eve a.k.a. the last Oldies Sunday for 2017! While many are looking forward to partying (or praying) into 2018, we’d like to present our last entry for the year. Our Oldies Sunday selection comes from the “Unruly Boss” Popcaan, but back when he was known as the “Prefect“. Titled “New Year“, this was produced by Notnice Records and featured on the “2010 Riddim” in 2009. In the track, Popcaan speaks on what he wants to experience in the new year including achieving great success in career, being able to better himself and others, avoiding imprisonment, and doing better than ever. His aim is to see the days of being hungry gone forever, while his plans include a new House, Car, and land “fi di New Year“.
Your favourite British Alternative Rock Virtual Band is back! The Gorillaz recently announced a new album in 6 years, and even premiered 4 new songs to boot. One of the tracks premiered is called “Saturnz Barz”, and features the “Unruly Boss”, Popcaan! Accompanied by a 6 minute VR Short Film, Popcaan displayed his Dancehall “Barz” over the Gorillaz’s haunting Production while the Band makes a visit to a “Spirit House”. Score another one for Popcaan as he is taking advantage of all the International collaborations coming his way. What will he surprise us with next? Gorillaz’s new album, “Humanz” will hit stores on April 28. Check out the video below!
Woiyoii! A single that has created a wave of buzz thanks to its intro. From viral videos to new slang, Popcaan finally released his Music Video for “Wicked Man Ting“. Directed by RD Studios, the “Unruly Boss” pays homage to well known communities in Jamaica, and the individuals who reside in them. Joined by his Unruly affiliates and fellow Musical peers, Popcaan strolls through different communities the “Unruly” way. With his name being the topic of many conversations recently due to certain song with a certain Canadian Rapper, Poppy will only do what he signed up for, and that is to make great music! After blazing the airwaves and the streets for months, there is finally a visual for Jamie XX, Young Thug and Popcaan’s “Good Times (I Know There’s Gonna Be)“. Directed by Rollo Jackson, we see Jamie getting the crowd hype with the single in one location, Young Thug vibing in another, and Popcaan chilling on a balcony. Nice visual, while I like the placements of “Good Times“, I was disappointed in not hearing Popcaan’s verse in this. What I’ve found out recently is that this single has been featured in the soundtrack of NBA Live 16 so big ups to the “Unruly Boss” on the achievement. Directed by RD Studios, the Unruly Boss performs his new UIM Records produced anthem while repping his team and his brand. See cameo appearances from Quad Bikes, the Unruly brand, Chi Ching Ching, and lots of weed. Dem ago need wings fi catch we up, cause we waaaaay up! With his name being spread to a larger audience and a debut album on the way, Popcaan has come a long way from being a former member of Vybz Kartel’s Portmore Empire. Tonight he had a chat with Winford Williams about the things that are going on in his life. Here he spoke about his former boss’ guilty verdict and sentencing, gaining popularity overseas and his experiences, staying away from conflicts and being a big part of his family, his debut album “Where We Come From“, and his upcoming performance in Jamaica. Winford Williams also gave Popcaan some words of encouragement in the end and I also liked how he spoke about his little brother’s progress.
