Kickraux & Witty “LIVE LIFE LARGE” With 2-Track EP

There was a point in time on Social Media, the phrase “Jah know, Witty” would be commonplace in comment sections. The phrase would put down Recording Artist Witty, but he used it as fuel to be great. While his music career had a shaky start, he found his footing when he released Rock-inspired Dancehall music. The attention from those releases grew so much that top Producer Kickraux showed interest in his sound, and their connection resulted in a number of collaborations. Over the weekend, they dropped a new addition called, “LIVE LIFE LARGE“.

With a 2 track EP, Kickraux and Witty look to dominate the music spaces with “LIVE LIFE LARGE” setting the tone. If you’ve heard their previous collabs, you’re in for even more Rock Dancehall tunes, further expanding Witty’s catalogue. Kickraux ensures the lyrics get the right sound, and fans are going to demand even more music. With just an appetizer here, we look forward to their next development. We can see Witty taking on the International stages soon with the music. Get familiar with this one.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Black Slate – Freedom Time (1980)

August 1 is recognized as “Emancipation Day“. On that day in 1834, the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833 came into force, and various parts of the Caribbean celebrate on that day. On “Oldies Sunday“, we revel in the celebrations through music. For today’s entry, we go back in time to check out British Band Black Slate’sFreedom Time“.

Released through Ensign/Mercury Records in 1980, the self-produced “Freedom Time” found Black Slate called for the liberation of the people. The song found the Band in celebration mode, anticipating for the arrival of the Marcus Garvey-founded Black Star Line (also popularly known as the Black Star Liner), that will take us all home. The easy-going production helped to amplify the lyrics and melodies throughout, encouraging listeners join in on a special moment. “Freedom Time” was featured on the Band’s sophomore album “Amigo“, and despite not being released as a single, it found its following over the years. The song would add to the album’s success

Since the release of “Freedom Time”, Black Slate continued to release more music, and score a few hits over the years. The Band is still active, and many continue to play their music, including “Freedom Time”.

THANK YOU BLACK SLATE FOR THIS HIT!

Peaches Adaba Is In Need Of The “Longilala”

The night is young, and temperatures are rising for many. For Recording Artist Peaches Adaba, her night is not gonna end in the typical way. She may have some of the liquor in her system, and she’s feeling some ways. That can only mean one thing, she’s in need of some serious affection, and she’s gonna need the “Longilala“.

Produced by Adaba Entertainment, Peaches Adaba is in need of one of her favourite things, that “Longilala”. She loves her fruits, but when she needs some Plantain in her life, she will not take excuses. When she’s low on power, the right charge will get her back to herself. She shares the benefits of her “Longilala” in a colourful Ruppi-directed music video, and Peaches continues to show that her place in the Jamaican scene is for the long haul. She needs the strength and stamina, and she’s making that request with no delay.

.@AmandaReifer Channels Sister Nancy For “Bam Bam”

Dancehall is powerful. Since its beginnings in the late 70s/early 80s, the genre took on the world with new sounds and vibes, and giving a platform to generations of Artists. One of those Artists was Sister Nancy. As the first Female Dancehall Artist, she took her opportunity to open doors for other Women to showcase their skills, and inspire future generations. One of the Artist Nancy inspired was Bajan Recording Artist Amanda Reifer. While she’s not a Deejay, the music of Sister Nancy brought out some creativity for the Singer. Namely her track, “Bam Bam“.

Inspired by Sister Nancy’s 1982 classic single “Bam Bam“, Amanda Reifer showed off her skills on a sampling of the track for her track of the same name. Joined by her band, we get a performance, showing that she took her inspiration and ran with it. Reifer has been on the scene for a number of years, releasing music through Atlantic Records. “Bam Bam” is the 2nd live performance she has conducted over the past few days, and we may get more over time until new music hits the streams. This Woman don’t trouble no one.

Check Out Our “Sampling Sister Nancy Playlist”.
