Elephant Man Gets Us Ready For The Christmas Parties With “Sling”!

There was a time when Dancehall Artists ensured that a Christmas song was a part of their catalogue. Some of our favourites would send it out early so that we could catch on to it just in time for the holiday parties, and the tunes would quickly become hits. For some time, that side of Dancehall died down, but the “Energy GodElephant Man is here to revive it with the video for the Younger Generation Productions-produced track, “Sling”.

Directed by Simeon Di Great, Elephant Man returns as Santa Claus to bring good tidings, and a whole heap of dancing! With his Dancers ready, Ele kicks off a few dance moves including the introduction of the “Sling” dance, and remixes the classic “This Old Man” to get us in a vibe. Elephant Man grants wishes of dance during a time where the Choppa songs have taken over the scene, and looks to incorporate even more dancing back in Dancehall. Let the holiday parties kick off in fine style, and done the “Shizzle” way!

Some Days May Be Rough, But @QMarsden Remains Positive For “Today”!

Q Marsden, more commonly known as “Q“, is a Florida-based Recording Artist/Musician who has been carving up quite the lane for himself in the Alternative R&B world. Like his Father, Dancehall/Reggae Producer/Musician Steven “Lenky” Marsden, Q has been blowing minds with his work, and possessing an aura that will make you want to hear more of him, even if had just a snippet. His music taps into different feelings and vibes, and on the new single, “Today“, he looks to be more positive.

In a video directed by Audrey Ellis Fox, Q lays it out for his listeners to see that he goes through things. While we all aren’t perfect, we try to make each day better than the last. Life can be confusing, the pressure is getting worsa, and the days may have us turning to vices for the numbness, but Q, like many of us, believes that better is in the near future. Lyrics aside, Q flexes with some funky production here that takes us into a different world. “Today” is one of the few releases by Q this year, and if you’re new to him, you won’t be disappointed. Parts of the world is recognizing the month of November as “Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month“, and we urge you the reader to check in on a friend today. A solid release by Q Marsden.

Super Black "Deh Wid You" on 13thStreetPromotions.com #Jamaica #Dancehall #Music #13thStreetPromotions #SuperBlack #DehWidYou #1986 #KingJammys #Caribbean

OLDIES SUNDAY: Super Black – Deh Wid You (1986)

It’s another Oldies Sunday! Today, we’re turning up the vibe with a classic. Today’s selection comes from Super Black with the single, “Deh Wid You“.

Produced by King Jammys on the “Heavenless Riddim” and released through the Jammys label in 1986, Super Black steps to a young lady who entered his life “like she big and she broad“. Super Black takes on a melodic delivery on “Deh Wid You” as he shares to the lady that she would’ve been the right Woman for him to love and lavish with gifts had his experience with her was a favourable one, and she had certain qualities about her. “Deh Wid You” was an instant hit for Super Black, as it gained popularity locally and internationally in the dance, and in the mainstream. “Deh Wid You” was featured on the compilation project, “Double Twin Spin Vol. 1” in 1986/87, and became Super Black’s most successful single. A music video directed by famed Director Llewellyn O’Reggio was made in support of the track, and was a hit as well on local Television. “Deh Wid You” was sampled by Junior Cat for his track, “Woulda Let You Go“.

Since the release of “Deh Wid You”, Super Black went on to release more music. He scored a few more hits along the way, but found it difficult to top the success of “Deh Wid You”. “Deh Wid You” is still celebrated along with some of his other hits, and Super Black is recognized as one of the voices who ruled in the early years of Dancehall.

Thank You Super Black For This Classic!
