Yes, we know, Vybz Kartel is one of the greatest Dancehall Artists ever. We’ve seen the cult like following, we’ve heard all the tracks since his Incarceration, his ability to cater to every vibe and situation, and his influence on many. He is no stranger to collaborating with International acts though. While tracks like “Pon Di Floor” (Major Lazer), “Frontin’ (Remix)” (Pharrell & Jay-Z), “Twerk It (Remix)” (Busta Rhymes), “Girlfriend” (Busta Rhymes & Tory Lanez), “WTP Remix” (Eminem & Supa Dups) get spins, he also has collaborated with the likes of Lorde (on the way), Kalash, Wizkid, and Sean Kingston over the years. But today, here are 5 International collaborations that you didn’t know existed, or may have forgotten about!
(If you want to buy them, the links are in the titles. Bless up!)
1. Descarada (ft, Pitbull) (2006)
2. Everybody Gone Gangsta (E.G.G.) (ft. Kardinal Offishall) (2005)
After adding an extra flame to an already hot Summer with the single, the “Dungeon Dragon” Busta Rhymes finally dropped the highly anticipated visual for his Tory Lanez and Vybz Kartel featured, “Girlfriend“! Directed by Benny Boom and Busta Rhymes, this features a star studded cast from some of the biggest names in Dancehall (Spice, Ninja Man, Foota Hype, Beenie Man, Bounty Killa, Junior Reid, Ravers Clavers) as Busta Rhymes takes a trip to Jamaica with Spliff Star to build a vibe with friends. Lots of phone calls, dancing, and good vibes in this one. Vybz Kartel continues to make moves despite his situation, but imagine if he was free? He would be touring off these guest features. No more talking, it’s time to press play! Watch the video below.
This feels like Vacation music complete with fancy liquor and an exotic location! The last time we heard Rapper Busta Rhymes tap into his Jamaican side was when he collaborated with Spice was on “So Mi Like It (Remix)“, and with Vybz Kartel on “Twerk It (Remix)“. Well today, he teams up again with the latter and Canadian Recording Artist Tory Lanez on “Girlfriend”(Get your copy here). Produced by Rockwilder who tears roofs off with his beats, Busta shows us why his musical career has spanned 20 years as he fires off another banger! Adding Patois to his lyrics, and speaking on bringing his Girlfriend to meet his “Mada down a country“, Busta delivers effortlessly. With the “World Boss” and “Fargo” adding their brand of dopeness to the track, this promises to burn up the airwaves, and flow through every headphone and speaker for the rest of 2017 worldwide! Good to hear Vybz Kartel on another International track despite his current situation, and Tory using his Caribbean influences. This is for all the ladies with the sundresses, the short shorts, the mini skirts, and the leggings on now! Fawud babes! Bounce to this by checking out the track below.
Recently, a few pictures made its way onto the Internet hinting DJ Khaled’s upcoming collaboration with Reggae Legend, Sizzla Kalonji! With it possibly appearing on the DJ’s forthcoming “Grateful” Album, fans were overjoyed as Khaled has shown love to the Artist via his various Social Media outlets. While it’s no strange thing here, Sizzla has been a go to collaborator for years in Hip Hop along with a couple of his fellow peers, Junior Reid and Barrington Levy. He also enjoyed his share of hit songs being sampled in many Rap singles. Sizzla was also a signee of Rap Mogul Dame Dash’s now defunct “Dame Dash Music Group”. Below we feature 5 of Sizzla’s Hip Hop collaborations.
1. Shottas – Juelz Santana ft. Sizzla & Cam’Ron (2005)
2. Give Me A Try (Remix) – Sizzla ft. Rihanna (2003)
After hitting the airwaves with a single and video, Spice reloaded and recruited Rapper Busta Rhymes for “So Mi Like It“. With production from NotNice Records, The “Princess Of Dancehall” and the “Dragon” dropped some sexually charged lyrics to an already spicy track. Interesting to hear Spice rapping on the remix as well, this can’t be the only song they’ve done together. What do you think? After burning up the airwaves with the original, it was only right that A$AP Ferg requested a verse from Shabba Ranks to make the remix. “Shabba Ranks (Remix)” also features Busta Rhymes and Migos, who had a hit with “Versace“. This was a decent effort as many haven’t heard a Shabba verse in years and Busta Rhymes had to help represent on the microphone. The Migos feature was an odd one though. A$AP Ferg’s “Trap Lord” album is still in stores. Is this remix a sign of new things to come from Shabba? Maybe. Check out the song below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
