Luciano, Bushman, Capleton & More Celebrate “Garnet Silk Legacy” In Mandeville


On April 26, Mandeville was treated to something special from one of its greatest musical exports. The late Garnet Silk became a legend in a few years in Jamaica, and his early passing left behind a catalogue that exalted him to great levels. Aforementioned date was set for the first staging of the “Garnet Silk Legacy Day” event. Comprised of a fun day for the family and a night Concert held at Brooks Park, a former stomping ground for Silk, Mandeville and its surrounding areas were tuned in to the music of Silk, united in the name of community, and had a great time.

Put together by Lovey Silk (Garnet Silk’s spouse), the Smith family, and The Garnet Silk Foundation, the event was one to experience, and for those who weren’t fully familiar with Garnet Silk and his work, were given a lesson that thanks to his catalogue being selected by the legendary Ricky Trooper, and tributes by a number of Artists. Speaking of Artists, the night concert featured performances by friends, family, and those inspired by Silk including Aaron Silk (Garnet Silk’s brother), Anthony Cruz (Nephew), Garnet Jr. (Son), Luciano, Capleton, Bushman, Bongo Herman, Nature Ellis, Bugle, Droop Lion, and many more. For those who weren’t able to attend nor tuned in to our TikTok Live Broadcast, check out highlights of the event below, and look forward to its 2nd staging next year.
