Vybz Kartel Celebrates 10 Years Of “Viking” & Birthday With “Str8 Vybz” Visual

Today, January 7, is a big day in Dancehall as Vybz Kartel celebrates his 49th birthday. The Deejay enjoys his first birthday as a free Man in over 13 years, and has already made it one of his best birthdays. Come January 13, Vybz will celebrate the 10 year anniversary of his album, “Viking (Vybz Is King)” with a special version. The anniversary album will feature new songs, and one of them will be, “Str8 Vybz“.

Produced by TJ Records/Adidjahiem Records, “Str8 Vybz” finds Vybz Kartel not only enjoying the nightlife, but the release of his “Str8 Vybz” Liquor line. Launched in late 2024, “Str8 Vybz Rum” has already made dents in the Caribbean, and other parts of the world. The “Str8 Vybz” track takes us back to the late 2000s and early 2010s when Kartel had a song for every party. The visual, directed by Shane Creative, comes off like a longform Commercial for the Liquor brand, with versions of “Str8 Vybz Rum” being consumed by not only the Deejay, but fellow Entertainers, and partygoers. The “Gaza Boss” kicked off 2025 with his much talked about “Freedom Street” Concert, and is gearing up for even more in the coming weeks. Drink up to this one, and drink responsibly.

Some will say a party is not a party without some of their favourite liquor. While that may be true, but according to Vybz Kartel, a party is not a party without some of his specially-labeled alcoholic beverage. Fans will remember the days of “Street Vybz Rum” and its popularity, but the Deejay recently announced that he’s bringing back the liquor, but under a new name, “Str8 Vybz“. While it’s not officially out yet, he celebrates with the release of the new single, “White Rum (Special)“.

Released through Vybz Kartel Muzik, Vybz Kartel is in a drinking mood, and he invites you to get your cups up in “White Rum (Special)”. The new track gives fans a feeling of nostalgia, as he previously had hits that focused on liquor. If you like your drink straight or with a chaser, it’s all good in the party, as long as you’re having a good time. With the return of “Street Vybz Rum” (now named “Str8 Vybz”), there will be lots of toasting, sipping, and vibing come this holiday season. Remember to drink responsibly.

What’s better than listening to a Vybz Kartel song? Listening to many of them in one sitting of course! With many unsure of the chances of the “World Boss” being a free man anytime soon, it’s good that we have plenty of his music to hold us over till then. Having had a run of Vybz Kartel themed mixtapes, DJ Heavy D of the big bad Chromatic Sound delivers another one in time for the holiday party season. Titled “Str8 Vybz Vol. 1“, we get over an hour of Addi hits, dubplates, collaborations, and some offerings from some of his “children” that we know you’ll love all over again. In case you didn’t know, this is also promotion for the upcoming “Str8 Vybz” event to be held in New Kingston in December. Check out Str8 Vybz here for more info on that.
