Trini Recording Artist Roy Simmons is no stranger to the music scene, but he has been consistently working on his craft, and growing his fanbase in the process. With only 3 years in, he has enjoyed heavy rotation on Radio, released an EP called “Pardon Me” that gained rave reviews, and he has made connections with some of the top names in Trinidad & Tobago. Still pushing the “Pardon Me” EP to new territories, he released the visual for a track off of the project called, “Come Thru“.

Directed by Pelham Goddard, “Come Thru” features GBM Nutron, and its something for the ladies. With Roy Simmons delivering smooth vocals and GBM dishing out some slick lines, “Come Thru” is one of the favourites off of the “Pardon Me” EP. The video provides a lil bit of a sexy vibe, but the twist at the end will have you rewatching it a few times. Roy Simmons looks to take his music to the next level, so get familiar with him today!

As we come to a close of the month of May being “Child’s Month“, we’d like to highlight one more star whose career started in their youth. Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from Soca Legend Machel Montano with the track, “Too Young To Soca“!

Produced by Eddy Grant and released in 1986 through the Ice Label, this song featured Machel Montano at the age of 9. With high energy production, Machel commanded the track with the prowess of a veteran. He expressed his love for Soca Music, and dared to defied people’s opinions of his being too young to Soca. He wants to sing, he wants to jam, so let him be! “Too Young To Soca” quickly catapulted Machel Montano to stardom, and opened up a lane for him to enjoy a career that has spanned well over 30 years. “Too Young To Soca” was featured on his 1985 4 track album of the same name.

As the month comes to an end, we’d like to ask all the parents or soon to be parents one thing, please protect the children! There are so many kids with promise and potential, and society finds a way to shatter their hopes and aspirations. Protect the yutes!

Toppy Boss Brings His “Yard” To The 876!

Trinidadian Dancehall Artist Toppy Boss has been putting in the work to become one of the top names out of the emerging crop of “Trinibad” Artists. Having secured a great following with a selection of tracks and visual content, he has taken his brand to various parts of the world, and has been consistent with the output. With his latest single, “Yard”, he finds it taking off in the home of Dancehall, Jamaica.

Released through Restricted Records, Toppy Boss steps out with an energetic sound, and a unique delivery on “Yard”. The sexually charged single has been a hit in Trinidad and parts of the Caribbean, but it has taken on a new life in Jamaica. Since its release in June, it has been receiving a wave of support from the 876 thanks to social media and radio. From dance videos on Instagram and TikTok to Dancehall selectors showing it a lot of love on their various mix shows, “Yard” is easily a hit for Toppy Boss in 2021. In support of the single, a music video was released. Directed by Propper Stuff Productions (PSP), the dance heavy visual quickly gained thousands of views on Youtube, in addition to the thousands of streams it has received so far. Inspired by the love he has received from Jamaica for “Yard”, he plans to follow up with collaborations with prominent Jamaican Dancehall Artists in the coming months.

Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Toppy Boss is a Dancehall/Trinibad Artist signed to American based Restricted Records. An active Artist since 2018, he quickly created a buzz locally and internationally with tracks like, “24/7”, “In Charge”, “Titanic”, “King”, and “We Bad” featuring Dancehall Artist Magic. A couple months ago, Trini Artist Sarkastik Ambassador and Bajan star Rhea Layne gave us a demo of a track they were working on called, “Toxic“. It tackled some of the issues that affect relationships, and many people could relate to the song. Fast forward to the present day, we’re proud to show you the music video for the officially released track.

Directed by Sarkastik Ambassador and starring Nicholas C. Subero and Ruby Parris (related to Paul Parris of The Parris Agency who manages Jus D?), “Toxic” is brought to life showcasing an estranged couple who struggle through moments of tension, restriction, passion and emotional intimacy in just one day of quarantining together. Many relationships have taken a dive in recent months, and the pandemic hasn’t been making things easier for some of us mentally. When this couple isn’t distancing themselves from each other, they’re arguing, but in the end they find themselves getting closer. Hang in there guys, it’s rough out there, and seek help when you can.

Today we take a trip to Trinidad and Tobago to check out an Artist who has been doing her thing for quite some time, the lovely Annalie Prime. She has been steadily rising thanks to some great music, and with the release of her 2020 debut album, “I Think Too Much“, she looks to be a prominent fixture everywhere. Keeping the momentum going, she recently unveiled the new single and video, “Set Your Sight“.

Featuring production by No6le Touch, Annalie Prime gives us a love song that promises to be a go to for many couples, and we believe we’ll look back it years later to give it a “classic” stamp. Accompanying the single, is a music video directed by Sir Ian Davis and the Dawgs Dem collective, and shot at the Ortinola Cocoa Estate on Acono Rd., Trinidad and Tobago. With soft vocals that will calm even the most stressed out person, and wake the world, Annalie Prime is setting her own sights to dominating her lane, and solidifying herself as a young legend.
