Azkella Releases Visual For @SOSDynamikz-Produced, “Never Safe”

Recording Artist Azkella is steadily making her way up to the forefront of Jamaica’s music scene. For a number of years she has been releasing content and making her name known, and the coming months could see her making the right impact. This time around, she gets dark in the video for the track, “Never Safe“.

Directed by Pixledge Studios, Azkella gets into some bad gyal vibes on “Never Safe”. Decked out in all black with a weapon or two close by, she has some aggression to go with her fit that will have people treading carefully. Azkella taps into some Goth Girl vibes here, and her delivery proves that she doesn’t limit her sound, and won’t be boxed in. She teamed up with longtime Producer/Collaborator SOS Dynamikz for “Never Safe”, and one can hope there’s a project with them in the works. If you’re not familiar with Azkella, take this time to get familiar with her sound. Don’t cross her, for it won’t end well.

Dancehall Artist Laa Lee is all about making great things happen in his life. The past few years saw him change from an upcoming act, to an Internationally recognized Artist, he knew from early that it would take work and a lot of dedication to make it big. People will have their opinions of him, but like his new single, he wants to live by his own rules on “Live My Life“.

Produced by Digital Productionz and featuring additional vocals by Monifa Goss, Laa Lee reflects on what it took to bring him this far in life. While many will see the glitter, they don’t know of the sleepless nights, the hungry days, and the broke times that could’ve made him do things against his character. People will talk as his attitude and focus may have changed since, but leave the man alone so he can live his life. Laa Lee continues to strive for greatness, and on the track he dabbles in some Afrobeats vibes here. Jamaica-based Actress/Recording Artist Reese Antoinette, she’s doing the latter on “What Is Love“.

Done in collaboration with Dale Virgo and DZL Records, Reese Antoinette paints the picture of the things that happen when she connects with the one she loves. From the affection, to moments of bonding, to making most of that quality time together, Reese sings with joy about times like these. Whether in Jamaica, Turks & Caicos, or San Francisco, being with the one you love is worth everything. Dale Virgo’s production gives the lyrics even more life, and listeners will relate to lyrics that focuses on how special love can be. Pablo YG Reconnects With A Friend One Last Time In “D.I.E.”

Life is just for living they say, and one day you pass away. While we can’t go back in time to relive certain memories with certain people, we just have to cherish things and people who are no longer with us. Dancehall Artist Pablo YG understands that death is inevitable, but he can’t help miss the people that played vital roles in his life. He speaks on it in the video for the track, “D.I.E.“.

Directed by Khingcam, Pablo YG is seen visiting the spot where one of his friends passed away from, only to be met with the living dead. His late friend appears thanks to being in purgatory, and Pablo gets to spend some time with him and reminisce until that friend is gone for good. Sometimes we wish we could get even 5 minutes with that special person, but all we have are memories to keep them alive in our hearts. “D.I.E.” appears on Pablo YG’s recently released “Bad Juvi” mixtape. R.I.P. to our loved ones, and may they rest well in the afterlife.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Nahki – Original Ninja (1989)

Happy Oldies Sunday! In our last post, we highlighted Artists who were influenced by Caribbean music, and today is no different. The country that our next Artist originates from has a longstanding music history with Jamaica, and the relationship is still strong today. For today’s selection, we head over to Japan to check out Nahki’s “Original Ninja“.

Produced by King Jammys and released through Jammy’s Records in 1989, Nahki stepped out with a single that helped to introduce the world to Japanese Dancehall. Heavily influenced by Jamaica, Nahki adopted Patois, and delivered with a melody and stance like he was one of the top Dancehall acts in those times. A lover of Reggae music since the 70s, it was a chance meeting with Reggae/Dancehall Icon Sugar Minott that gave him a chance to hone his skills, and make solid bonds with fellow Artists and Producers in Japan, and Jamaica. “Original Ninja” was a hit for Nahki, and the track was featured on his debut album, “Baddest Japanese” that was released in 1990.

Since the release of “Original Ninja”, Nahki went on to release a few more albums, scored more hits, maintained “Reggae Japansplash” which he helped to start in 1985, and etched his place in the history books. He is widely regarded as a pioneer in Japanese Dancehall, an Ambassador for Dancehall & Reggae, and he helped to influence generations of talent from Japan. “Original Ninja” is still recognized today along with many of Nahki’s releases.

Vybz Kartel & @PopcaanMusic’s “Dull Colour” Gets A Visual

A few weeks ago, we highlighted that Vybz Kartel and Popcaan reunited on the single, “Dull Colour“. The track has received praise and positive feedback since then, and people have been asking for more content from them. The request has been fulfilled as there is now a music video for the track.

Directed by Face Xpression, fans get a chance to see Popcaan perform “Dull Colour” with a few highlights to the “World Boss” through. The video also gives us a story of a young man who is ambitious, but has been having a rough time securing work in Jamaica. Later in the video he is suggested by friends to get work overseas, and life turned around for him in the end. As “Dull Colour” makes its way to more ears, the video is sure to do very well. It’s another Gaza reunion.
