Kyng Tavii has been creating for a long time. Many remember the Teenager who made numerous Comedy skits online with his friends, and they’ve enjoyed the content and watched his popularity grow on Youtube, Social Media, and even on TV. He has elevated his game since, and has expanded with music, and soon, Short Films. Today, we look at the music as he starts the new year with, “Di Yout Dem Shun“.

Produced by UGYN Music, Kyng Tavii reflects on his journey, admires the position he is at now, and embraces what’s to come next in, “Di Yout Dem Shun”. The song showcases a young Man who had to overcome a lot to get where he is now, looks back at the doubters, and celebrates his achievements. But his story isn’t over, as he has a lot more to conquer. He considers himself a King, and he’s aiming to rule his lane with all that he has created. Tavii has been releasing Music for a number of years, and this year we might get a project from him. We can also expect more Videos from him, in between him keeping up with his supporters on Social Media. Taviidon all 2025.

Vybz Kartel Celebrates 10 Years Of “Viking” & Birthday With “Str8 Vybz” Visual

Today, January 7, is a big day in Dancehall as Vybz Kartel celebrates his 49th birthday. The Deejay enjoys his first birthday as a free Man in over 13 years, and has already made it one of his best birthdays. Come January 13, Vybz will celebrate the 10 year anniversary of his album, “Viking (Vybz Is King)” with a special version. The anniversary album will feature new songs, and one of them will be, “Str8 Vybz“.

Produced by TJ Records/Adidjahiem Records, “Str8 Vybz” finds Vybz Kartel not only enjoying the nightlife, but the release of his “Str8 Vybz” Liquor line. Launched in late 2024, “Str8 Vybz Rum” has already made dents in the Caribbean, and other parts of the world. The “Str8 Vybz” track takes us back to the late 2000s and early 2010s when Kartel had a song for every party. The visual, directed by Shane Creative, comes off like a longform Commercial for the Liquor brand, with versions of “Str8 Vybz Rum” being consumed by not only the Deejay, but fellow Entertainers, and partygoers. The “Gaza Boss” kicked off 2025 with his much talked about “Freedom Street” Concert, and is gearing up for even more in the coming weeks. Drink up to this one, and drink responsibly.

Teejay Joins Son Jaydon & Quada On “Star”

As a parent, it’s important to build a legacy for your offspring to follow. No matter the profession, seeing your child/children follow in your footsteps or even being inspired by your journey is a special feeling. Dancehall Artist Teejay knew he would have some of his proudest moments as a Father when he shared the spotlight with his son, Nathaniel, who goes by the stage name Jaydon (and celebrates his birthday today). Today, he premieres the Music Video for, “Star“, the collaboration between him, Jaydon, and Dancehall Artist Quada.

“Star” was directed by Jedi The God and shot at various locations including the St. James High School, Teejay and Quada reflect on the days where they struggled, the success they have gained over the years, and provide motivation for the listener while Jaydon delivers some positive words in the chorus. The video shares a moment of giving where a number of people got some treats during the past holiday season thanks in part to the Cari-Med Group. “Star” was produced by Extol Music and featured on Teejay’s 2024 EP, “I Am Chippy“, which was released through Warner Records. Jaydon has a place in Music when he’s ready to take it on full-time, but first, get those grades right. Aiming for the heavens with ambition.

Dancehall Artist Maestro Don is ready for the new year. 2024 found him doing more live shows and releasing new music, and this time he’s ready to dominate the scene. He starts the year strong with, “Zyon“.

Produced by Zyon Entertainment/JVO Ent., Maestro Don provides the necessary motivation and guidance for the people on “Zyon”. He continues to hold his own in the streets, and remains vigilant as there are forces that aim to put him down. He takes it to the streets in a Music Video directed by Divine Global. No matter what was going on, Maestro Don always had a song loaded for the people. With a possible new project on the way, stay tuned for even more updates from the Deejay.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Bunny General – Full Up A Class (1992)

Music is made every day, a style is created every other day, and classics are made on rare occasions. On today’s “Oldies Sunday” segment, we highlight a Man who was a part of a style that influenced many, and delivered a classic single. We go back to the 90s to check out Bunny General’s “Full Up A Class“.

Produced and released by Fashion Records in 1992 on the “Fever Pitch Riddim“, Bunny General was in show off mode on, “Full Up A Class”. The “bigger boss” stepped out with a flow that was on Usain Bolt levels of speed, and aimed to stand out in a growing Dancehall scene. With his speedy flow, he was lapping his competitors, and joined a small number of Deejays who could deliver in the same manner. The lyrics weren’t far off as Bunny sent shots at those who thought they could step to him, but shouted out the people who understood being above the rest in and out of the Dancehall arena. “Full Up A Class” quickly became a popular tune for Bunny General, and was featured in a number of compilation albums.

For a number of years, Bunny General showcased that he was a Deejay who could stand up to any challenge, and dominate any Riddim that was thrown his way. Since the release of “Full Up A Class”, he went on to release more music, and is still active today through various live performance bookings. “Full Up a Class” is still played around the world, with many requesting for him to take the Microphone and deliver like the General he is.

On the first day of 2025, Manchester, Jamaica welcomed the first staging of the “Manchester Food & Drink Festival“. Held on the grounds of Brooks Park in Mandeville, there was food, there were Vendors with various items for sale, there was live entertainment by the DJs and local performers Betty YM/Bettydan and Mexi Kaano, and something for the kids in the form of Bounce-A-Bouts, swings, karts, scooters, and trampolines! The event had a small late start, but the weather stayed bright and well to host a few hours of time with friends, family, and food.

We covered a bit of the day’s activities in our new video. Thanks to the organizers of the “Manchester Food & Drink Festival” including Di Village Jamaica, the Sponsors who helped to make it happen, and everyone who attended from young to old. May the next staging be an even bigger event.
