Doreen & Jackie’s “Welcome You Back Home” Featured In New @IkeaUSA Campaign

Jamaican music has so much power, it’s unreal sometimes. Just when you think it can’t pop up in something major, it comes as a surprise. Recently, Sweden-founded Furniture Retail giant IKEA launched their latest campaign in time for the holiday shopping season. Under the phrase “It’s All In The Bag“, IKEA highlights all the goodies that you can get in their stores for the home, it’s like making that dream house possible with everything from there. Throughout one of their latest Commercials, a familiar sound from the 876 can be heard.

Featured in IKEA’s “It’s All In The Bag” campaign is Doreen & Jackie’s hit single, “Welcome You Back Home“. Produced by “Sir Coxsone” Dodd with Instrumentation by the legendary band The Skatalites and released through Studio One in 1964, “Welcome You Back Home” was a duet with Doreen Shaffer and the late Jackie Opel about a couple who had falling outs and realizing that they need each other more than ever. Shaffer is known as the Queen of Ska, is a founding member and last surviving member of The Skatalites. Jackie Opel was a Bajan Recording Artist who was discovered by the late Byron Lee, credited for inventing Spouge Music (a fusion of Ska, Calypso, and R&B), and was known as the “Jackie Wilson of Bajan culture“. The Instrumental for “Welcome You Back Home” was played throughout the new IKEA Commercial. Just like the Furniture giant, Jamaican music has it all in the bag.

.@VoiideMuzik Is Ready For Whatever On “Inevitable”

Dancehall Artist Voiide is back on the scene with new content. The Artist has been busy creating and making connections, and he’s more focused than ever. He recently stepped out with the video for his latest single, “Inevitable“.

The TrxpD3m/Different Mind State-produced “Inevitable” finds Voiide locked and loaded, and ready for any opposition that wishes to step in his way. He’s feeling trigger happy, and he’ll hit his enemies up with more than just an aggressive flow and charged lyrics. The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Aviidan Media, and Voiide is in an unknown location with his crew issuing out some punishment to one of their opposers who they have held hostage. Lookout for Voiide and his Different Mind State team as we can expect a lot more music in the coming weeks.

Rowdy Rebel Links Up With Chronic Law For “Words Of Law (Remix)”

It’s no secret that Chronic Law’s music has made an impact worldwide. For a number of years, his brand of “Darkness” has touched many for better or worse, and his catalogue is filled with anthems. Earlier this year he released the track, “Words Of Law“, it definitely made an impact on US Rapper Rowdy Rebel, and made the link for the “Words Of Law (Remix)“.

Produced by MBlocc Records, Chronic Law and Rowdy Rebel trade verses on “Words Of Law (Remix)”. They share their own type of badness throughout, with perspectives from Jamaica and New York respectively. The two make for a great collaboration, and it would be a good move for them to collaborate on more tracks. Chronic Law continues to feed the streets with new music and visuals weekly, and we expect “Words Of Law (Remix)” to cover more ground. Fada Dark meets the GS9 Rebel.

450 Crosses Paths With A Former Flame On “Wild N Rich”

Dancehall Artist 450 is gearing up for a busy season as he will be taking on a number of local and International live performances. He continues to be consistent with the music, and his numbers have been growing exponentially. There’s always room for new 450 music, and you can now tune in to the video for the new single, “Wild N Rich“.

Directed by Damaniac Visualz, 450 crosses paths with a ex who became a new member of his Neighbourhood, and he’s not happy about that. Over production by Week.Day, “Wild N Rich” finds the Artist reflecting on his past relationship as he was wronged, but he shares that despite having some anger towards his ex, he’s living and doing better. The video however, shows two different sides of 450 where on one side he confronts his ex in an attempt to create some sparks while her partner is away, the other side shows him does the opposite and finds comfort in his new lady. 450 hasn’t missed with the tracks, and we know the fans will give this one the support. Be sure to catch his live performances.

Gully Bop "My God Dem Nuh Bad Like Me" on 13thStreetPromotions.com #Jamaica #Dancehall #Music #13thStreetPromotions #GullyBop #CountryMan #MyGodDemNuhBadLikeMe #ClaimsRecords #GuttyBling #OldiesSunday #OldSchool #Oldies #2014 #GullyBopBopBop #Caribbean

OLDIES SUNDAY: Gully Bop – My God Dem Nuh Bad Like Me (2014)

For today’s Oldies Sunday, we dedicate it to the late Dancehall Artist Gully Bop. Gully Bop rose to fame in the early 1990s under the name “Country Man“, but unfortunate circumstances got him out of the spotlight for a number of years. Thanks to a viral video in the early 2010s, he made a comeback as “Gully Bop“, and things started to look up better than ever for him. Today, we highlight one of his first hits, “My God Dem Nuh Bad Like Me“.

Produced by Claims Records/Gutty Bling and released in 2014, Gully Bop’s “My God Dem Nuh Bad Like Me” found the Deejay in the best light. While the track was aimed at fellow Dancehall Artist Alkaline, it was Bop’s moment to show the world that his talent as an Artist was not a joke. With boasts about being lyrically superior to his peers and having the most charisma, Gully Bop made a lot of claims throughout, and had no problem backing up. “Dem Nuh Bad Like Me” quickly gained popularity, and earned its place as one of Bop’s first hits, and a memorable one to date. Bop’s popularity took him to the Sting stage, Reggae Sumfest, England, Canada, the US, and his name brought up in other parts of the world.

Since the release of “My God Dem Nuh Bad Like Me”, Gully Bop went on to gain more popularity. He got caught up in a few controversial situations which included relationships, and was the topic of many feuds and rumours. He managed to keep his name floating for a while, but his days as an Artist were slowly coming to a halt. His health started to decline, and he sought the assistance of a few for some time. Sadly on October 31, it was reported that Gully Bop passed away at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH). Gully Bop was one of the few Artists who got the break twice, but wasn’t fortunate to make his comeback end on a successful note. Despite all the gossip, rumors, and drama, many still remember and play his song, including “My God Dem Nuh Bad Like Me”.

Thank You Gully Bop For This Hit, Sleep Well.
