Minto Play Da Riddim, Warrior, Charly Black To Release “Oxtail (Extra Gravy)”

2024 looks to be a year of big hits, and Producers Minto Play Da Riddim and Warrior want to be a part of it all. The Producers made great strides last year in their respective fields with Minto officially tapping into the Afrobeats scene, and Warrior bringing his WMG Sound to more people locally, and internationally. They have teamed up a number of times over the years, resulting in a number of hits. Their recent team up included International Dancehall Artist Charly Black, who had a great 2023 that consisted of standout international performances and fiery singles. Together, they present their new single “Oxtail (Extra Gravy)”, and are confident that it will be one of this year’s top bangers.

“Oxtail (Extra Gravy)” is the latest single for the ladies brought to you by Minto Play Da Riddim, Warrior, and Charly Black. Powered by an Afrobeats sound and Dancehall vibes, the track looks to connect with the ladies in a major way, making for a hit that will take over the clubs, spark dance and social media challenges, and rattle speakers around the world. The theme of love is present on the track as Black enjoys the love of his lady “like Oxtail with extra gravy”, a play on the ways many couples profess their love for one another. The track promises to be a mainstay on Valentine’s Day-themed playlists, and be an important entry in love compilations for the rest of the year. As a part of the roll out, the track was exclusively premiered at an event in Trinidad recently, and was well-received immediately. A music video for “Oxtail (Extra Gravy)” is in its development stages along with plans for further promotion of the single.

Get ready for the love vibes like no other when “Oxtail (Extra Gravy)” by Minto Play Da Riddim, Warrior, and Charly Black goes live on February 16 on all digital music streaming platforms.

Sonya Spence’s “Let Love Flow On” Featured In “American Fiction” Film

It’s awards season, and if you’re in Music or Film, chances are you’re one of the people who is a part of an award-nominated creation. One award show many look forward to is the 96th Academy Awards. One of the Films up for a few awards is “American Fiction“. “American Fiction” stars Jeffrey Wright, Tracee Ellis Ross, Issa Rae, and Sterling K. Brown, and it focuses on a Novelist/Professor named Thelonious “Monk” Ellison (Wright) who out of frustration, wrote a satirical book on stereotypical Black people, that turned out becoming a success which has good and bad outcomes. The Film was released in December 2023 in Theatres, but was made available digitally on February 6. The Film features a selection of music that was played throughout, but in an important scene, a song from Jamaica was the soundtrack.

During a Wedding scene in “American Fiction”, “Let The Love Flow On” by the late Sonya Spence was featured. Produced by Sonia Pottinger and released through High Note Records in 1981, “Let Love Flow On” was a Reggae/Funk/Soul single that got Spence’s name out there. Sonya Spence was an Artist on the rise in the 1970s and 1980s, but her career was sidelined numerous times through a number of ways (You can see our Women’s History Month write up on her and this single here). (Editor’s note: I was happy and saddened by Sonya Spence’s song’s inclusion in the Film. Many Creatives worked hard for moments like these, but some of them never made it this far because they were robbed of it. Her story is truly a sad one. May she rest in peace.)

American Fiction” is out now on your favourite movie streaming platforms. Will it secure any of the big awards? Stay tuned.

“R U 4 God?” Asks @Bakersteez, @Skillibeng & ScaleBaby On New Track

Recently, Rapper Bakersteez went through a moment that had many talking. He called out a number of prominent names in a series of Social Media rants, and discussions began where people either were concerned for his mental health or the safety of the ones mentioned, or if this was a stunt to get his name out there. Since then, his Mother came out with an apology video, and it seems like he’s in a better place now. He makes his return to the scene with, “R U 4 God?“.

Featuring Skillibeng and ScaleBaby, Bakersteez gets back to Rap on “R U 4 God?”. The Artists bring forth plenty badness on the track, letting listeners know that things can get dark when they’re around. “4 God” is one of Steez’s new monikers, and many got familiar with it during his rants. The track isn’t without a Music Video, and the Artists get together on the corner in a Now Or Never-directed clip along with Dirt Bikes, a few bad gyals, and artillery. Good to see Bakersteez back to doing what he does well, and we can expect more content in support of his latest project, “Life Liva“.

It’s the weekend before the official release of the Film, “Bob Marley: One Love“, and the anticipation is high. The Iconic Bob Marley continues to be a topic around the world, with many remembering the hits and his presence, while others dabble in various discussions surrounding the Man. The Marley brand has gone up a few levels over these past few months, with some of the offsprings making strides. Recently, Julian secured a GRAMMY win for “Best Reggae Album“, and now Sharon returns to music with a new single called, “Steppah“.

Produced by Leroy Romans and Nicholas Davis, “Steppah” featured the legendary Big Youth, and was released through Gong Gyal Entertainment. Sharon Marley reminisces on a past love, and though their paths have taken different turns, she has a hope they will reunite and recapture some of that magic they had. Big Youth brings his iconic vibe to the track as he now holds the position of an OG. The video, directed by Donisha Prendergast (daughter of Sharon Marley), takes us back in time as we look at the story of young love, the separation, and the great reunion in modern day. Lots of eye-catching 70s fashion here, and paired with Sharon and Big Youth’s sounds and energy, we can expect “Steppah” to be in heavy rotation leading up to Valentine’s Day. “Steppah” is the latest single off Marley’s upcoming “Love Frequency” album, which is set for release later this year.
