Devin Di Dakta Vs Masicka: Who’s Winning The Beef?

War is in the air they say, and if you’re tuned into the Dancehall scene, you know tensions are brewing up. If you haven’t been paying attention, Dancehall Artist Devin Di Dakta has made some moves recently in calling out fellow Dancehall Artist Masicka. Both Artists have been at odds since the 2010s, and recently things have started to heat up with Devin sending shots, and following up with songs. Masicka however has not answered, but his affiliated Artists Shane Skull and Wirebrain stepped up to defend the turf with their tracks. It’s currently a 1 vs 2 sparring match, but it has been rumoured (or assumed, you know how these platforms are…) that Masicka has been preparing songs in retaliation.

While we’re not the hub for all things beef, we’ve decided to observe the proceedings in hopes that this will be a spectacular display of lyrical engineering, with no major harm to either Artist (we remembered what happened to Devin Di Dakta years ago). Today, we want to know, who are you rooting for in this battle? Devin has been holding his own against Shane Skull, showing that he’s dedicated to the craft. With songs like “Church Mouse“, “Hatchling“, and “3 Little Crocs” garnering some attention online, we await what’s next in this saga, and we hope it’s not (mostly) one sided.

OLDIES SUNDAY: The Heptones – Party Time (1968)

A few days ago, Jamaica celebrated its 63rd Independence, and we continue to celebrate the strives, the music, the culture, and the Island’s continued influence on the world. Of course on “Oldies Sunday“, we continue to bring the party to you. For today’s selection, we go back in time to check out The Heptones’ “Party Time“.

Produced by “Sir Coxsone” Dodd and released through Studio One/Coxsone Records in 1968, it’s all about having fun in, “Party Time”. The Heptones, consisting of Leroy Sibbles, Earl Morgan, and Barry Llewellyn, provide top tier vocals throughout as they invite us all for good times, good vibes, and joy in an event like no other. If you had a bad day, come to the party and feel alright. “Party Time” quickly found its fanbase during the “Rocksteady” era, and became one of the group’s hits. “Party Time” was included on their 1968 album “On Top“, and their 1977 album of the same name.

Since the release of “Party Time”, The Heptones went on to release more music. The group dealt with lineup changes a number of times which include member Leroy Sibbles’ emigration to Canada, his return, and his departure again to pursue a solo career. The group’s co-founder Barry Llewellyn would pass away in 2011, and introduce two new members, and would release a new project in 2016. There was also tension for a number of years between Earl Morgan and Leroy Sibbles, but no word on them burying the hatchet. “Party Time” would go on to become a classic from the group, and a part of the setlist for the past and present members.

There are many Dancehall Artists putting in the work, but Skillibeng wants to be the top worker. The past few years found him breaking ground on the International market, collecting awards, taking over stages, and making solid connections. It’s safe to say, he can be called “Mr. International“, and he goes “International” with his latest EP.

Featuring 9 tracks, Skillibeng further seals his International appeal with the new EP, “International”. The Deejay still has the spicy lyrics for the lyrics, and reeling in the listener with his usual venomous flow. He really makes use of his contact list with the new project. Production on “International” includes the likes of Johnny Wonder, Adde Instrumentals, Nvtzz, Jack Hudson, Diplo, Young Fyre, Shaz Beats, and Yeti Beats. While he takes on the globe, the likes of Major Lazer, Ayetian, Tokischa, Moliy, Ty Dolla $ign, and Young Nudy join him on this journey. Whether at home or abroad, Skillibeng is still making big things happen, and commanding respect. Big up the Dancehall Ambassador.

Yannick Paul Aims To “Level Up” With New Gospel Single

It’s a season of fun, but also a season of strengthening one’s faith. US-based Gospel Artist Yannick Paul is gearing up to release his most important project yet, the new EP, “The Search“. The new project will shed light on Paul’s journey in his faith, the challenges faced, and the blessings he has received from The Most High. Having taken some time away to focus on life outside of the Studio, his return will find him more focused, and ready to take the Word to more who need to hear it. Earlier, he premiered the first single off of the new EP called, “Level Up“.

Produced by Dextah, Yannick Paul focuses on making his faith in Christ stronger than ever in, “Level Up”. Over Hip Hop-inspired production, Paul gets into Deejay mode to share parts of his journey including moments where he was weak in his faith, but provides motivation for those who seek to be better Christians, and spread a strong message as a Street Evangelist that God’s love is for everyone. “Level Up” promises to connect with the people who have been at the crossroads, and lead them back onto the right path. “The Search” EP is set for a September release, and Yannick Paul looks forward to the support of the new single leading up to the big day. The Summer comes with a lot of vibes, good times, and energy, and BVI/Atlanta-based Recording Artist Monéa has been providing that long before. Thanks to her selection of musical releases, she has been busy getting people to dance, enjoy life, and using her Girl Power to take things to new levels. The time for a new project was upon her, and she answered the call with the release of the new album, “Mood Swings“.

Featuring 15 tracks, Monéa gives the world a presentation of who she is as a person, and as an Artist with the release of, “Mood Swings”. Monéa brings the party vibes with the new album, leans into Pop, Hip Hop, Afrobeats, and Dancehall sounds, but also taps into relatable situations when it comes to relationships, and gives the ladies a dose of energy throughout the project. The Caribbean Popstar enlisted the likes of Yarico Beats, Guchydon Beats, Pincho Beats, Nova Elite Audio, Travy Dawg, and Ayo Rodey for the album’s production, while she called up Zerimar, Theron Theron, Skillies, and Safa Gaw for guest features. Summer 2025 has been welcoming a barrage of new music from Caribbean Artists, and Monéa joins the list to take the vibes to more parts of the world.
