When you hear the name “Ras-I“, you’re in for some authentic Reggae music. For over a decade (and even more years of development), Ras-I has been crafting music that connects with the listener, triggers a variety of emotions, and makes one an instant fan. From love songs, to conscious music, he has built a solid catalogue, and if you haven’t been familiar, you will need to change that immediately. His mission is to make timeless music, and his journey continues with the release of his 3rd album, “Heart Of Love“.

Featuring 13 tracks, Ras-I commands the scene, and holds his audience with good music via the “Heart Of Love” album. He always had a penchant for love songs, and his fanbase will continue to enjoy the new selections he has crafted here. Music for the heart aside, he has shared music that taps into the people who need a boost to make it through the day, and for those who seek to keep in tune with their spirituality, he has something for them too. The rollout for “Heart Of Love” found the Reggae Artist collaborating with a number of Artists, taking on various stages, and connecting with his fanbase through Social Media content. Following the album’s release, he will be taking on the road through a series of Press runs, live performances, and specialized content.

Released through Ineffable Records, “Heart Of Love” features production from Keneil Drumz (who handles the Lion’s share of work), JLL, and Alpha, while Kabaka Pyramid, Govana, Khalia, and Nesta share the audio stage with Ras-I on a few tracks. If you need a musical pick-me-up this week, get your headphones and speakers ready for Ras-I, and embrace the music with a “Heart Of Love”.

The ladies love Skippa, and he definitely loves them. Some may hear his content about the fast life and the “badness”, but he always has something for the ladies to dance to. He is the heartthrob for many Women, and recently he took the time out to dedicate something special to them. He stepped out earlier with the release of, “#Skippaholic“.

Featuring 7 tracks, Skippa gives back to his Female fanbase with the release of his new EP, “#Skippaholic”. The Deejay put together a project that is bound to feed into their addictions, with tracks showcasing some of his slick lines, and the energy that his fanbase knows him for. Production on the new EP include the likes of Yo Christon, Rich Together, Chargie Records, Solitary Muzic, Now Or Never, Krush Flo Records, Notnice, DJ Mac/Crash Dummyy and more, while Pablo YG and Jah Vinci show up on two tracks. Skippa may have his hands full this Summer when he hits the road with this project. Once again, the ladies love Skippa.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Junior Tucker – Mr. Telephone Man (1983)

May is recognized as “Child Month“. During this time on “Oldies Sunday“, we highlight some of our former Child stars. Many of our favourites started out in their much younger day, and either found success then, or it helped to develop their careers later in life. Today, we go back into time to check out former Child Star Junior Tucker, and his track, “Mr. Telephone Man“.

Produced by Ray Parker Jr. and released through Geffen Records in 1983, Junior Tucker was having communication problems with his girlfriend in, “Mr. Telephone Man”. He makes a complaint to the Phone Operator that his connection with his girlfriend has been compromised, and despite his reasonings, it may be clear that his girlfriend doesn’t want to talk to him. “Mr. Telephone Man” was a minor hit for Tucker, who was gaining popularity as a teen sensation, and was one of Jamaica’s earliest child stars. The single was featured on his 3rd album, “Jr. Tucker“. If you have made it this far in the Article, yes, this is the original track that was later covered by Boston Boy Band, New Edition in 1984, and became a classic.

Since the release of “Mr. Telephone Man”, Junior Tucker went on to make a shift in his music career. He focused on Dancehall, and released a string of hits. He later converted to Christianity following the passing his of his Father, Jimmy Tucker and the birth of his daughter in the late 90s, and has been a Minister and Gospel Recording Artist ever since. Many know New Edition’s version of “Mr. Telephone Man”, but true fans of Tucker remember that he did it first.

It’s that time. Canada’s own Drake returns to the scene in a huge way with a trio of album releases. “Iceman“, “Maid Of Honour“, and “Habibti” serves as his return to the top spot after releasing a joint album with PartyNextDoor, and recovering from his much talked about battle with fellow Rapper, Kendrick Lamar. With 43 tracks, he has covered plenty ground, and with a few features throughout, it’s this feature on “Maid Of Honour” we focus on. He links up with an old friend here.

On Drake’s “Maid Of Honour”, Dancehall Artist Popcaan joins him on the track, “Amazing Shape“. As with previous collabs, this one is aimed at the ladies, and with the mix of Jamaica and Canada, it’s “OVO Unruly” again. Popcaan was signed to OVO Sound in 2013, and severed ties in 2023, but remains on good terms with Drake, even supporting during his battle with Kendrick Lamar. “Amazing Shape” is just one of the many tracks that ladies will be tuning in to on “Maid Of Honour”. “New Bestie“, another track on the album, features Drake speaking in Patois, and shouting out Dancehall Artist Vybz Kartel, who we thought would make an appearance. The track “BBW” features a sample of Trini Artist Denise Belfon’s classic “Put Your Back In It“. The album along with “Iceman” and “Habibti” are out now.

To say Dancehall Artist Vybz Kartel is hard at work is an understatement. This year saw him take on stages, flood the streets with new music, secure more assets, grow his family and fanbase, and connect with old and friends. He has a lot going on, even a love affair. Hear him tell it in, “Don’t Mess Up“.

Produced by Greedy Lion Records/Silver Bird Records/Vybz Kartel Muzik, Vybz Kartel presents an R&B love affair called, “Don’t Mess Up”. He taps into the R&B with a story of love that had strong beginnings, and endured some stumbles throughout. They may be on different paths at times, but Kartel knows she’s very special to him, and when they link up, it’s a moment in History. When the love is strong, two hearts will always connect. Vybz Kartel continues to build his post-Prison catalogue, and is still reeling off him collaboration with US R&B Artist Chris Brown for his recently-released “Brown” album.
