Yaksta Declares “The Microphone Saved Me” With New Album

Recording Artist Yaksta is a living example of perseverance. Having started his career from humble beginnings in the 2010s, he has been making every year better than the previous one. The late 2010s/early 2020s gave him a number of high profile moments, and he has not slowed down. The past few months found him in some controversy, but he always had the music to focus on. With a new album ready for the world, he’s defending creativity, and ensuring that his lane fosters more success. He steps out with, “The Microphone Saved Me“.

Featuring 11 tracks on the digital version while physical copies boast 12-15 tracks on his official website, Yaksta is unapologetically himself with the album, “The Microphone Saved Me”. The title is a testament as life could have been very different had he not chosen to put his lyrics over production. His lyrics are raw and direct as they dabble into topics from relationships, to everyday life, to his societal observsations, and if you have heard the previously-released album cuts, he doesn’t hold back. Production on “TMSM” includes the likes of Track Starr, Princeton Brown, Kingsway Music Group, David Luckain, Kabaka Pyramid, and Troyton Rami, while Silk Boss, Lone Don, and Dre Tegs make up for guest features. The work never stopped for Yaksta, he just focused on becoming better. Thankful for that Microphone.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Sasha & Turbulence – We Got The Love (2005)

June is coming to a close, but we had one more song for those who have a Wedding Playlist in mind. Love is all “Oldies Sunday” brings, and we can say with confidence that Jamaican Artists make some great love songs. Today, we go back in time to check out Sasha and Turbulence’sWe Got The Love“.

Produced by Mikey Bennett on the “My Friends Riddim” and released in 2005 through VP Records, Sasha and Turbulence not only promoted that authentic love, but celebrated their own love story in, “We Got The Love” (also known as “We Have Got Love). Both Artists were an item at the time, and have released a number of singles together. “We Got The Love” helped to propel their respective brands, and it became a hit. The single would go on to be included in Sasha’s debut album “Sexy Body Sasha“, but the album was later shelved.

Since the release of “We Got The Love”, Sasha and Turbulence would go on to build their respective careers. Their relationship would fall apart soon after the single’s release, but they remained friends up to this day, even appearing together in music videos. While Turbulence would have a steady growth in Reggae, Sasha would go on to become a Gospel Artist using the name “Sista Sasha“. “We Got The Love” remains a favourite for many, and may be a part of some Wedding Playlists soon.

Thank You Sasha & Turbulence For This Hit!
