On January 18, the legendary Musician Stephen “Cat” Coore, co-founder of Third World, passed away. Fans, family, and peers mourn this loss, and tributes are pouring in from around the world. A brilliant Musician, Coore knew how to reel in listeners with his sound, and when he takes the stage, it’s all about his performances. On “Oldies Sunday“, we pay tribute to him with the selection, “Jah Sun You Rise“.

Released through MiDehYa in 1997 and featuring Kiddus I, it was appreciation for the Creator, and one of the greatest creations being the Sun in, “Jah Sun You Rise”. Paired with great Instrumentation, we hear of the greatness of the Sun in contributing to life, guiding one’s path, and its radiance in times of darkness. The song also calls for the Sun to lead people to the right path, put light into the hearts of people who need it, and help to make the world a better place. “Jah Sun You Rise” was featured on Cat Coore’s 1997 debut album, “Uptown Rebel“, and was well-received by fans of his Musicianship, and of Third World.

Since the release of “Jah Sun You Rise”, Cat Coore continued to release a few singles, but being onstage with his Third World brethren found him displaying even more of his skillset. His musical legacy will be carried on by his family, and his name lives on in the hearts of many.

Earlier, US R&B star Ari Lennox released her new album, “Vacancy“. The album adds to a catalogue that has connected well with many worldwide, showcasing her style that continues to evolve. Produced by Supa Dups and Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor, Ari Lennox enlists the legendary Buju Banton for, “Company”. The song finds the Artists wanting to share their space with that special someone, something that’s very relatable at this time, as we all need that one person to hold and give love to. Ari takes control of the production with ease, and with the “Gargamel” onboard, this makes for a track that will stay in heavy rotation. Buju continues to let the world know that while he is a legend in Reggae and Dancehall, R&B is one of the bases that he calls his musical home as well. Produced by Cloud Beats and featuring Singer Tanzie, “Poverty” finds Jah Lil wanting to change the narrative, and encourage more of us to escape that construct that aims to keep us locked in. Not every problem will be solved when one has wealth, but the goal is to live better, and do good in this world. Jah Lil and Tanzie join voices and make for a great collaboration, and may inspire moves that call for great actions towards a system that doesn’t love us. Produced by Kaydee Pro and Yonas, Sp!da is not succumbing to society’s ideals and the hazards of the dating world in, “Pressure”. She distances herself from the Men who only want one thing, and avoids past lovers who betrayed her trust and love. She’s direct with her statements, and she emphasizes that whoever deserves her time and space, will have to truly prove themselves for this exclusivity. If you can’t meet her requirements, she’ll exit and go focus on being successful. The 2020s found her to be just as successful, even with controversies here and there. Now in 2026, she’s leading the charge in a different way. She unleashes her new EP, “Just A Girl In A Money Man’s World“.

Featuring 6 tracks, Jada Kingdom enters a new era that focuses on broadening her range with the release of her “Just A Girl In A Money Man’s World” EP. The long-awaited project promises to be a hit for her fanbase, and extend her International reach that has been official since the late 2010s. She teamed up with legendary Producer Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor for a number of tracks, while Yo Christon secures a few slots himself. Last year, the world lost a legend by the name of Max Romeo. With 60 years of music, he built a career that inspired and entertained generations. A legacy that’s celebrated the world over, is now being carried on by his children. Xana Romeo has been one of the children who followed in her Father’s footsteps in upholding strong stances, and deliver music with powerful messages. With many years under her belt, she stands tall with her siblings in keeping the Romeo name alive. She ventures into the new year with “The Divine Blueprint“.

A follow up to her 2021 EP “The Roots Of X” and her 2016 debut album “Wake Up“, Xana Romeo provides guidance, love, motivation, meditation, and positivity with her new album, “The Divine Blueprint”. Released as a double album with “The Divine Dub“, the side B to the album featuring Dub versions of side A’s tracks, Romeo is ensuring she covers the Earth with her sound, and carry on the tasks that her Father started. Production on TDB are handled by Xana and Charmax Music, with collaborations with Lutan Fyah, Addis Pablo, Jallanzo (who steers the “Dub” album with Xana), Micah Shemaiah, Brother Azizzi Romeo, and of course her Father the late Max Romeo. Xana Romeo will take her blueprint to every part of the globe physically, and over the streams, with all intention of connecting with the people the right way. Time to build the structure, and add to her own legacy.
