For a number of years, Jamaican-born/LA-based Producer Dale Virgo has provided the sound for many of your favourite Artists. Under his DZL Records, he has produced hits for the likes of Christopher Martin, Ce’Cile, Chronixx, and many others. Having taken his talents to the US in recent time, he has been experimenting with new sounds, and for his latest release, “Sunset Blvd“, he looks to capture the high energy crowd.

Dale Virgo leans into the EDM/House Music sound for his latest release, “Sunset Blvd”. Armed with Bass, Synths, Sonics, and great energy, Virgo is ready for the ravers, the party goers, and those who live life to the fullest with this new Instrumental. Inspired by living in the Los Angeles area, he has witnessed all walk of life, and looked to bring the energy from that to his production. He was also encouraged by fellow Producer/DJ Sizzle Hop to test his waters in new sounds, and the move looks to be a very fruitful one for him. Family is very important to Virgo, and while he knows his way around the boards, his Son Zayn, and Daughter Zahara had input on the production, and share co-production credits. We expect the Streamers to love this one, the Ravers worldwide to groove to this, and the world to open even more doors for Virgo to pursue even more.

It’s that time of year again, it’s “Hispanic Heritage Month” on “Oldies Sunday“! Hispanic Americans continue to make significant contributions to entertainment, sports, and pop culture, and we have highlighted a number of them. Today’s selection comes from Puerto Rico via Ricky Martin’s “María“.

Produced by KC Porter, Tom Vickers, and Steve Berkowitz and released through Columbia/Sony Music Mexico in 1995, Ricky Martin had his eyes set on a lovely, but dangerous Woman named, “María”. Inspired by the sounds of Mariachi from Mexico and how proud the people are of their heritage, Martin created a Spanish Language song that incorporated Flamenco, Dance, and Salsa, paying homage to the Latin sounds that were prevalent in Puerto Rico. The original version of “María” had a slower tempo, and was met with resistance from his label to release it. It soon became a public release after much back and forth, and was included on his 3rd studio album, “A Medio Vivir“.

“María” enjoyed great reception, becoming Ricky Martin’s breakout International single, but things took a turn for something epic when Puerto Rican DJ Pablo Flores remixed the song. Increasing the tempo and adding extra production, the “Spanglish Remix” of “María” took the world by storm, became a Samba megahit, and helped to launch the advent of Latin and Dance music crossovers. The original and remixed version enjoyed top placements on charts globally, but the remix went on to set a record for becoming the biggest Latin hit as it went on to sell over 5 Million records, and secured spots in the greatest Latin music releases of all time lists.

Since the release of “María”, Ricky Martin went on to become a Latin Music phenomenon, producing multiple hits, and becoming an Icon in the 90s and 2000s. He was a former member of the Puerto Rican Boy Band Menudo, but his solo career fared much better, as he became the face of the “Latin Pop explosion” in the 1990s, and one of the best-selling Artists of all time. He also ventured into acting with stints in TV shows and Broadway plays, but is still very active in music. “María” continues to secure its place in Pop Culture. Wepa!

“World Boss” fans are eating today as Vybz Kartel has found himself on another Remix. Earlier we shared the “New Gears (Remix)” with Skillibeng, and now he’s in Ghana with his Ghanaian counterpart, Shatta Wale. Together, they release the “Street Crown (Remix)“.

Produced by Shatta Movement Records, Vybz Kartel and Shatta Wale adjust their crowns, and dominate on the “Street Crown (Remix)”. While they have collaborated previously, this is their first collaboration since Vybz has been released from Prison. They provide motivation here, and further seal their unity while complimenting their respective styles. Ghana is awaiting the “World Boss” as there has been talk of him being there by the end of the year. Two Kings with their respective movements, continuing to run things. Believe in yourself.

A few months ago, Dancehall Artist Skillibeng had the world locked in with the release of, “New Gears“. Since then, there have been talks of other Artists, namely Vybz Kartel, joining in on a possible remix. After a few previews, the “New Gears (Remix)” is finally official!

Produced by Madenka and Endo, Skillibeng calls up the “World Boss” Vybz Kartel for the official remix to “New Gears”. Kartel is given the floor to declare that he’s doing the damn thing as a free Man, with ambitions of more prosperity from here on. Skilli also delivers some fresh lyrics here, as it’s only right that the King and the Prince combine their powers to give the already-popular original track more life with a remix. What a way to start the Friday.

Nhance Releases “Life Machine” Off Upcoming Bashy1Law Project

Recently, Artist Manager/Label Owner Bashy1Law announced a new project titled, “From Dad, To Star“. The new project serves as a tribute to his late Daughter Alexandrianna “Star” Jones who passed away last January, and will feature contributions from a number of high-profile acts. On what would have been her 5th Birthday on September 23, the single from the project, “Life Machine” by Nhance was released.

Produced by CollectDiBred Entertainment, Nhance pays tribute to not only the late Alexandrianna Jones, but loved ones who passed on in, “Life Machine”. The Deejay shares the pain experienced when losing a loved one, including the pain felt when the sound from a Life Support Machine signals the loss of life. The new “From Dad, To Star” project features Chronic Law’s “Cry”, another dedication to Bashy1Law’s Daughter, and more announcements will follow shortly. Continue to sleep well, Alexandrianna.
