Digital Music Streaming platform Audiomack has been making the necessary moves to become the hub that artists and creators around the world can grow and benefit from. For years Audiomack has been highly influential, and has helped to launch and enhance the careers of many upcoming and established acts. Outside of providing the space for artists to upload their music, Audiomack has launched original content which include features from some of your favorite names in entertainment. 

Tapping in the Caribbean aspect of Audiomack, they included Dancehall Artists Alkaline and Konshens to perform in the platform’s popular “Fine Tuned” series earlier this year. Seeing the success of those performances, Audiomack has now launched their new performance series called, “Bless The Yaad”.

When it comes to delivering music with strong messages and social commentary, Recording Artist Bugle is one of those go to voices in Jamaica. His music has travelled far and wide, and has connected with all walks of life. Earlier this year, he announced his upcoming “Toxicity” album, and has since released the singles, “My Life“, “Experience“, and “Toxicity” the title track. Today, Bugle keeps the content going with the release of the music video for “Toxicity“.

Directed by Shot N’ Stunning, Bugle gives us a Short Film that takes us back to the days of Slavery, and forward to modern day Jamaica where we see things happen in the name of Politicial Parties and colours. Bugle asks the question, “Why are we so Toxic?” and we see the actions of men whose characteristics are toxic. Bugle gives us powerful imagery, and delivers the track with an excellence that has always been a part of his brand. “Toxicity” was produced by Loud City Music and Twelve9 Records. The “Toxicity” album hits your favourite streaming platforms on October 22.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Desmond Dekker & The Aces – 007 (Shanty Town) (1967)

With talks of protests happening in Jamaica in the past couple of days, and the upcoming release of the Film, “No Time To Die“, today’s Oldies Sunday seeks to blend the two. Today’s selection comes from the great Desmond Dekker with the track, “007 (Shanty Town)“.

Produced by Leslie Kong and released through the Pyramid label in 1967, Desmond Dekker with the help of The Aces shared some of his observations during that time. The song spoke about the “rude boys” of the time who continued their life of crime as soon as they’re released from Prison. The activities of the rude boys would cause a ruckus in certain communities, and the armed forces would be called to tackle the situation. “007 (Shanty Town)” was a hit for Desmond Dekker, a first for him really. Having achieved #1 status on the local music charts, and created history as being the first Jamaican-produced song to chart in the UK Top 20 peaking at #14. The song was also popular with the “rude boys” as well. There was an original version that made no reference to “Shanty Town”, which was also produced by Leslie Kong. The track was featured on Dekker’s debut album of the same name with The Aces, and on the soundtrack for the classic Film, “The Harder They Come“. It was also rerecorded for his 1980 album, “Black and Dekker“.

“007 (Shanty Town)” was inspired by a student demonstration that turned violent against the government’s decision to erect an Industrial Complex on a plot of land close to a beach in the mid 60s. The song also made references to Ian Fleming’s “James Bond” spy movie series, and the popular 1960’s “Ocean’s 11” heist Film. After “007”, Desmond Dekker went on to make more music, and rack up more hits along the way. Desmond Dekker passed away in 2006 at the age of 64, but his music continues to live on.

On “Mission”, she is in need of some millions, and with some like minded friends, she sets out to get it. Directed by Tinman for Swag TV Filmz, DJ Naz shares that she’s holding a reasoning with herself as sometimes the best person you can talk to is…yourself. She also shares that she has plenty detractors who just want to see her fail, but she keeps on pushing, and making her life even better. While she prefers the company of some marijuana during her talks, she is in her own world, and has no time for anything and anyone to bring her down. Jah Patriot Gives The Ladies Some Loving On “Dream”

Following the release of the singles “Keep The Faith“, “Crown”, and “Oh Gosh” this year, US based Reggae Recording Artist Jah Patriot is making all the necessary moves to keep the musical spotlight shining his way. He has been gaining great feedback locally and internationally for his releases, and has been showing that the veteran still has the power to make great music. When he’s not making songs that command a certain level of consciousness, or music that provides a positive message, he’s making something for the ladies like his new single, “Dream“.

Produced by Reggae Capital, Jah Patriot calls the ladies over as he spins clever lyrics to entice them. Flipping a Dancehall flow, “Dream” may surprise many, but those familiar with his career, knows that he always has a few tricks up his sleeve.
