Kxng Izem is on a mission to take his music to new levels, and enjoy the spoils of his hard work. It is everyone’s dream to become successful, taking care of every need, and ensuring the next generation gains that success. Izem shares that dream, and he wants to get it the right way. He speaks about it in “Fortune“.

Produced by Ten24 Music, Kxng Izem has his sights set in “Fortune”. He shares that he wants to acquire wealth, but he won’t water down his morals to get it, nor will he tarnish his Rastafarian beliefs for it. He is working towards it, and he has gained much growth in his music career. The track is accompanied by Music Video directed by Bad Gee Studios, and what was originally a photoshoot, quickly turned into a performance of the track that is expected to do some numbers in the coming weeks. Kxng Izem looks to release more music later this year, and maybe we can expect a new project from him as well. To be rich like Mansa Musa is the dream, but don’t sell out for it.

OLDIES SUNDAY: J.C. Lodge – Telephone Love (1988)

Women’s History Month is coming to a close, and we appreciate all the Women who stepped up to produce great music and content. For today’s “Oldies Sunday” selection, this tune was what you call a “banger”. The Artist is British-Jamaican Singer/Educator/Creative J.C. Lodge, and we check out her track, “Telephone Love“.

Produced by Augustus “Gussie” Clarke on the “Rumours Riddim” and released through Anchor Records/Music Works Records in 1988, J.C. Lodge’s “Telephone Love” takes us back to a time when the phones were corded, the dials were physical numbers or rotary, and long conversations could mean high phone bills. J.C. shared her admiration for a young man on the song, and she was eager to have those intimate conversations in person under the covers. You could be having a bad day, but that phone convo with that special someone was everything. “Telephone Love” was an instant hit for Lodge, not only was it a big tune in Jamaica, it was the first Dancehall/Reggae single to cross over into the R&B/Hip Hop markets in the U.S., charting high in the process, and gave Lodge an record deal with Tommy Boy Records. The single was also featured on her 1990 album, “Selfish Lover“, and the 1992 album, “Tropic of Love“. A version featuring Shabba Ranks was also released.

Since the release of “Telephone Love”, J.C. Lodge went on to release more music, created content focused on Children (her “Sing N Learn” series gained some popularity in Jamaica), and became a Schoolteacher and Fine Artist. She recently released a single in recognition of International Women’s Day, and looks to release even more music. “Telephone Love” remains one of her most popular singles.

This post is dedicated to a Mother, a sister, a very unique talent, and a friend. She was born Shaneika Martin, but the music scene first knew her as “Shie“, then later on, Rhiya Luna. We lost this dear individual on March 2 after a long battle with Illness, and it has really left a dark cloud over many who received the news. She was a longtime friend and supporter of this platform, and she was destined to do great things. It’s never easy when you lose a loved one, and one can only keep their memory alive through previous interactions, and their works and hobbies. Today, we pay tribute to Rhiya Luna with a tribute Playlist titled, “Long Live Rhiya Luna“.

For over an hour, listeners can tune in to some of the tracks that Rhiya Luna shared with the world over the years. From Dancehall singles, to R&B and Pop-inspired tracks, to songs with positive messages, she was on her way to doing even more, but life had other plans. She got to share the stage with some great talent, and when there were doubts, she was backed by many who truly believed in her and wanted to see her win. She leaves behind a family who will honour her name, and listeners like us will ensure that the people heard her. Long live Rhiya Luna, sleep well my friend ❤️.

Dancehall Artist Masicka is still riding high. His sophomore album “Generation Of Kings” is still getting a lot of love from the public, and more doors are being opened for him as an International Artist. He’s not slacking off, and there’s plenty more content on the way for us to enjoy. He follows up with the visual for the single, “Reverse Time“.

Directed by Shane Creative for Now Or Never, Masicka maintains his kingly stance in the video for “Reverse Time”. The “Genahsyde Boss” commands attention throughout the visual, and whether he’s in the Mansion, or at the Race Track, or in the streets with his people, his presence is felt. “Reverse Time” is one of the more popular tracks off his Def Jam debut project, and we look forward to him taking the album to even more levels later this year. 1Syde till the land slide.

She started the year and this month with a collaboration with DJ Rose Gold, but now she’s all about some matters of the heart. She releases her new single, “That Boy Is Mine“.

Produced by ODZZ and UGYN, Alex Mali is in attack mode in “That Boy Is Mine”. When it comes to her Man, she’s not about that sharing business. She fends off the Women who think they can easily snatch him away, and she’s protecting what’s hers from the watchy watchy girls. In a society where taking another person’s partner is welcomed, and celebrated by some, Mali doesn’t have any time for that, and she will get aggressive. Follow her advice, you’re not Brandy nor Monica, so go find your own person. The new single comes just a few days after her birthday (March 21), and we can expect the red (previously green)-haired Singer to deliver even more music in the coming months.
