With his first Sumfest performance in 10 years coming up, Sean Paul touched base with Winford Williams tonight on Onstage. Here he spoke about his “Full Frequency” album, experimenting with different genres of music and collaborating with international artists, trying to bring Dancehall music to more places in the world, trying his hand at music production, having difficulties breaking his new music in the United States, being big and touring in various countries, using social media to further reach his fans, thoughts on people trying to discredit his nationality despite waving the Jamaican flag worldwide, focusing on the music more than the accolades, focusing on more unity in Jamaica, Sumfest, and much more. Since his start, Sean Paul has been doing his best to bring Dancehall in many places with his many hits, while he has his detractors, I respect that he went outside the box with his music. On this morning’s “Ebro In The AM” show on Hot 97, Dancehall artist Tifa was a featured guest. Here she spoke on her music, being dubbed “Queen of the Dancehall“, her influences, being a part of the “On The Reggae Tip” event, wanting to be one of the top Dancehall artists making it big internationally, maintaining a level of professionalism in her career, and proving many wrong. Tifa also handled her own on the microphone where she performed “Back It Up” and other songs. I liked this interview and Tifa handled herself well and represented Jamaica well. Tifa’s been on a good run as of late with the new record deal, Headphones and her singles so she has a right to wear the crown. After hitting the airwaves with the single, Toian now hits your screens with the music video for “Rude Boys“. Shot in Montego Bay, we see the lovely Toian hanging out with her rude boy and his crew, travelling with the crew on bikes, and observing the scene. Very cool visual, it looks like a scene from a movie. Gave me an idea of seeing this being a mini movie with some good acting and storyline. Mama warned her but her heart yearns for the rude boy.
