Hashez Reflects On His Struggles On “Cry No More”.

Many of us have at some point experienced a level of struggle and hardship. While some are still going through it, we give thanks for those who have found an escape and go on to live successful lives. For Westmoreland-based Dancehall Artist Hashez, his experiences have made significant changes in his life, and he reflects in the video for the track, “Cry No More“.

Done in collaboration with Crime Flow Records, the FireNation Muzic-directed video finds Hashez reflecting on some of the hardships he has experienced. While still working on completely overcoming his challenges, his experiences has made him more aware of his surroundings and the people he has met along the way, and he has kept his emotions in reserve, making him unpredictable to others. Hashez has been on the scene for a number of years, and is closing in on becoming one of the bigger names to emerge out of Western Jamaica. He recently released his “New Level” EP, and is working on bringing his name to more listeners around the world.

In recognition of Women’s History Month, we take the time out to feature Women who have made great contributions to our music culture. While we celebrate the Women all year over here, we recognize some through our Oldies Sunday section. Today’s selection comes from the duo Althea & Donna with the track, “Gone To Negril“.

Produced by Tommy Cowan and released through Reggae Bloodlines in 1977, “Gone To Negril” finds Althea & Donna taking a trip to the Jamaican North Coast destination. An area that is home to various Tourist and local attractions, the duo share their eagerness to be there, and they chronicle their journey from getting ready, to passing through various places before reaching their final destination. While Althea & Donna found great success with “Uptown Top Ranking“, “Gone To Negril” was a minor hit for the duo, and was featured on the “Reggae Bloodlines 2” compilation album. The track was also featured in the 2017 compilation album, “Sounds & Pressure Vol. 7“.

Since the release of “Gone To Negril”, Althea & Donna continued to release a few more singles before making an exit from music. They secured a place in music, and we recognize them for “Women’s History Month”.

Who is working as hard as Chronic Law in Dancehall right now? He reminds us of the days when Vybz Kartel had at least 5 songs out almost every week, on almost every new Riddim. The “Law Boss” has kept his fans happy with the new content, and this new selection finds him collaborating with International professionals. Check out “Gangsta’s Prayer“.

Produced by US-based Producers Hundred Hours Entertainment and Crown Media House, Chronic Law continues to shares his thoughts over some great sounds. Always aware of his surroundings and the people he converses with, “Law Boss” stays ready for whatever may unfold, furthering emphasizing how important trust is in his life. He gives us a melodic delivery here, and fans will definitely enjoy this one. A few years ago, Dancehall Artists Masicka and Vybz Kartel created a wave with their 1st collaboration called, “Infrared“. The track turned out to be an instant between the “World Boss“, and the “Genahsyde Boss“. Many wondered if they’ll ever trade verses again, but today the wondering has ceased. Today, we hear the track, “Shootaz“.

Produced by Adidjahiem Records, Masicka and Vybz Kartel step out with another aggressive collaboration. These two rule the space, and anyone who wishes to oppose, they’ll be slapped silly and sent flying into nearby bushes. It’s a GazaGenahsyde, and things will get ugly if needs be. Masicka recently secured a deal with the infamous Def Jam Records, with a promise that a new album will be released later this year. Unfortunately for Vybz Kartel, his efforts for an appeal were futile, and fans can only hope they’ll see the “World Boss” walking as a free man someday. In the meantime, there’s new music to enjoy.

Directed by Xtreme Arts, Ding Dong and his Ravers Clavers step out like champions here. Feeling like Michael Jordan at the finals, Ding Dong proclaims he’s here to bup them in the head with nothing but style, determination, success, and hits. To all the naysayers, don’t get Ding on his wrong side, it may not be possible to comeback from that. With a couple decades in, “World Ding” has continued his climb to higher levels, and has tapped in various markets that will ensure he and his team are always good. Dancehall Artist Kraff has been enjoying a favourable amount of buzz these past few months. His hard work has been paying off in the form of big numbers on Youtube and streaming platforms, and being included in various events including the recently held Sting 2022. With a different kind of focus for 2023, he’s making big steps on “Giant“.

Directed by Ruption, Kraff Gad reflects on his achievements on “Giant”, and steps forward with the determination that he’ll be bigger than ever. “Giant” was produced by Tepa Music and Droptop Records. Kraff solidified himself as one of the emerging Artists from last year, and with the new crop of young Artists, will make even more noise this year and beyond. “Trap/Chop Dancehall” has been under much scrutiny over the years, but some of the representatives have managed to take their career to bigger venues, and are finding more ways to be a difference on the scene. Expect to hear more from Kraff this year, watch him make hits out of thin air!
