Featuring UK Artist Stefflon Don and Colombian Artist Manuel Turizo, Izy Beats gives us a track that is gonna shake up a few places this summer. The bilingual delivery will be a treat for some, you will be dancing with your favourite person, and the vibe from this is going to be contagious. Izy has previously released singles as an Artist, and each release has been getting better. Manuel’s melodic delivery will score a few points with fans, and Stefflon continues to flex her ability to flow over any track given to her. Izy, are you kidding me? “Tú” sounds like a hit!

OLDIES SUNDAY: Louisa Mark – Caught You In A Lie (1975)

In recognition of Women’s History Month, we take the time out to feature Women who have made great contributions to our music culture. While we celebrate the Women all year over here, we recognize some through our Oldies Sunday section. For today’s selection, we stop in London to check out the late Louisa “Markswoman” Mark and her track, “Caught You In A Lie“.

Produced by “Sir Coxsone” Dodd, “Caught You In A Lie” was released through Safari Records, and the Gussie label in 1975. The track was a cover of US Singer Robert Parker’s 1967 single, “I Caught You In A Lie“, and Louisa Mark owned it with beautiful vocals and delivery as she spoke about catching a cheating lover, and discovering what he was up to. The song was performed by a 15 year old Mark, who was a big winner at various talent shows, and was a result of  her first recording session which was given to her by Dodd. The song became an instant hit and was well loved by listeners in Europe and other parts of the world, and was considered the first Lovers Rock single.

Since the release of “Caught You In A Lie”, Louisa Mark followed up with a couple more hits, and released her only album “Breakout” in 1981 (“Caught You In A Lie” would be later added in a remastered version of the album). She enjoyed a career in the 80s that saw the release of some singles, but life happened, and she didn’t put out anymore music until 2004. Sadly she passed away in 2009, but she left her mark (no pun intended) on music with kicking off the official Lovers Rock movement.

Featuring Stefflon Don and produced by Dunw3ll on the “Play Station Riddim“, Vybz Kartel has something for the ladies here. While Addi knows what to say to make the ladies go crazy, Stefflon is ready to show up at your front door with all you need and more. Vybz and Stefflon have collaborated a couple times before, and if there’s a joint project to happen with them, please make the necessary connections for its release. Stefflon Don has been tapping in with a few Dancehall Artists and Producers, and we believe she’ll be releasing something amazing later this year. World Boss meets The Don!

Stefflon Don returns with new music, and this time around, she taps into her Jamaican side. Recently, she teamed up with Producer DJ Frass for the single, “Sweet Bounce“. The track has been gaining popularity since its release a few weeks ago, but now Stefflon gives it an extra push with the official music video.

Directed by Xtreme Arts and featuring some of your favourite Dancers including Latonya Style, Energy, Desha Ravers, and DHQ Chiney Gymnastic, it’s a Dancehall party when Stefflon Don’s around. Bringing street dance vibes to the visual, you can’t help but dance along. If your dance moves aren’t the best, you can learn the “Dirt Bounce” from Dancehall Artist Laa Lee, who makes a cameo appearance. While Stefflon Don has been a part of a few Dancehall collaborations recently, could “Sweet Bounce” be the start of her jumping on a few more Riddims? Producers and Artists linkup!

Directed by Frio Films, Skeng brings his energy to the Queen’s residence, and he does this effortlessly over a Ditruth Records/Droptop Records production. Whether he’s hopping out the Helicopter or rolling with the crew in the streets, Skeng ensures that he’s decked in Burberry threads throughout. “London” is expected to become a viral sensation within the coming days, with everyone screaming “Don don don…” to Infinity. Skeng made the most out of his UK visit as he connected with fans through various performances, and made new links. His status as one of the top Dancehall Artists out is only getting better, and we look forward to more progress in the coming months. Don’t get wrong banged.
