OLDIES SUNDAY: I-Octane – Mama You Alone (2009)

Happy Mother’s Day! From the Mama to the Aunty, to the Grandma, to the Foster Mom, to the Step Mom, you are appreciated! To those who are no longer with us, we keep your memories close on this day, and we extend our condolences to our readers/viewers at this time. Today’s selection comes from Dancehall/Reggae Artist I-Octane with the track, “Mama You Alone“.

Produced by Phillip “Junior Arrow” Linton and Nigel Staff for Arrows Records on the “Karma Riddim” and released in 2009, I-Octane makes a dedication to his Mom, and all the Mothers of the world in, “Mama You Alone”. The Deejay reflects on the times his Mother was there for him, and he gives thanks for the way she raised him, and urges listeners to appreciate their Mother not just on Mother’s Day, but everyday. “Mama You Alone” quickly became a hit for the Deejay, and earned heavy rotation for years to come especially on Mother’s Day. The single was also featured on his 2011 EP and 2014 album, “My Life“.
