Hey bloggers, today’s my first installment in Oldies Sunday where i’ll show appreciation to a old school song I enjoy and hopefully tell the story behind the song. Today’s entry is from the great Pluto Shervington with a song titled “Ram Goat Liver“. Goat soup or “Mannish Water” as it’s popularly called, is a favourite amongst Jamaicans. Mannish Water can be served at funeral receptions/repast, wakes, parties, and fun days/carnivals. It also makes a very tasty meal at any given time.

The King of the Jungle is in the building! Yes people, Snoop Dogg a.k.a. Snoop Lion finally dropped his video for his reggae single “La La La“. Interesting video, Snoop’s singing while being surrounded by children in animal costumes, dancing females, and stoned (high) pineapples. “Kingston Be Wise!” …That’s the message being displayed throughout Protoje’s newest single. Protoje explains that his single is “A short story based on the events of May 23rd, 2010, when the Jamaican government deployed its military into Tivoli Gardens in the capital city of Kingston.” Great instrumental, powerful message, only the best from a great singer. “One world, one people…” are the first few words you hear out of the new single from Gyptian and Xyclone. Titled “Free” and distributed through RSQTHP Music Group, both artistes display enjoying their freedom whilst demanding the freedom of fellow peers. Not a bad riddim, a bit of autotune, but sounds incomplete on the mixing part. Nonetheless it’s still a good song and good to hear Gyptian on new releases too.
