Squash Unloads The Badness On “Get Up”


Wake up, wake up! Dancehall Artist Squash is walking around with the alarm clock, because it’s time for some 6ix badness. He’s on time, so get ready for his new tune, “Get Up“.

Produced by 6ixReal Records/Attomatic Records/Dan Sky Records, Squash unloads the badness on “Get Up”. The “6ix Boss” is making it be known that he’s ready for whatever, and he’s not walking around with toys, so tread carefully. The song gained some attention within the past few weeks thanks to its intro which found Squash urging everyone to get up. The intro became a popular sound on TikTok and Instagram, and built up anticipation for single. Squash has been enjoying quite the buzz earlier this year off of the “Big Breeze“, “Shubout“, and “Sweepstakes Dweet” singles, and he will keep the momentum going for the rest of the year. He recently held his first headliner event in 5 years in the US, and that may be a sign of even more to come from the Deejay. Set your alarm clocks.

Shawn Storm, Lisa Hyper Reunite On “New Money”


It has been well over a month since Dancehall Artist Shawn Storm embraced freedom, and he has been enjoying every minute of it. He got busy with the music before the week was over, and he has been making a number of moves since. One of them is reuniting with loved ones. This reunion is special as he releases the video for the single, “New Money“.

Produced by Eastern Entertainment Promotions and featuring Lisa Hyper, it’s a Gaza/Empire reunion here, and the Deejays get back to business. The Storm/Hyper collaboration is just one of the numerous link ups that fans of Gaza/Portmore Empire look forward to since Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm have been released. The track highlights the world of Lottery Scamming, corruption that continues to have a strong grip on the world in various forms, and deadbeat Fathers. He uplifts those who continue to be righteous in their paths, and uphold the orders as to not be corrupted. Gongzilla takes it to the Courtroom for the Music Video, and took acclaimed Director Rass Kassa out of retirement to oversee the visual presentation. The video shows the consequences of certain actions, and there aren’t any happy endings here. Damian Marley always shares strong messages with his music, and “Banner” will be one that will start a lot more conversations. Power to the righteous ones, wave that banner.

Many have taken the stance, including Manchester-based Recording Artist/Producer Abka Kaba. He wishes for the world to be a better place, but it takes something powerful to make it happen. He contributes to that with, “Behold“.

Released through Roots N Creations Records on the previously-released “360 Riddim”, Abka Kaba utilizes his platform to promote change in “Behold”. Over some solid production, he calls for peace, love, and unity in this world that is filled with conflict. The time has come for the real ones to stand up, and make a stop to the madness out there. Extending his creativity, Abka released a Music Video for the single. Along with his Kahinga Films company, he taps into the power of A.I. to bring forth a Music Video that finds a character calling that positive change to happen, and unite the people through music. Abka cannot campaign for change alone, and he encourages everyone to do their part. We just want a life that’s good. Here’s to better days.

We’re celebrating Hispanic Heritage Monthon Oldies SundayHispanic Americans continue to make significant contributions to entertainment, sports, and pop culture, and we have highlighted a number of them. Today’s feature comes from American Singer of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent Irene Cara with her single, “Flashdance…What A Feeling“.

Produced by Giorgio Moroder and released through Casablanca Records in 1983, Irene Cara had the people moving with “Flashdance…What A Feeling”. The Dance-Pop single shared lyrics of believing in yourself, letting the music move you, and doing something great to be a success even when the odds are stacked against you. “Flashdance” was a single on the soundtrack for the 1983 Film of the same name and it was used in a pivotal part of the Film, and went on to become a #1 Billboard Hot 100-charting hit, a Gold certification, a GRAMMY award for “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance“, and Academy and Golden Globe awards for “Best Original Song“. In 2023, it was chosen by the Library Of Congress for inclusion in the National Recording Registry. It also pushed the soundtrack to go 6x Platinum.

Since the release of “Flashdance…What A Feeling”, Irene Cara went on to release more music, acted in numerous Films and Broadway productions, and collaborated with a number of Artists before passing away in 2022. “Flashdance…What A Feeling” remains one of her most successful singles.

Today, we’re having a History lesson, and this one you will be want to stick around for. Jamaica possesses a Vocabulary like no other, and the world has had a good share of being influenced by it. Today, History is being taught by Kyng Tavii, and Kevin2woKrayzee on the “History Of Bloodclat“.

The word “Bloodclat (correctly written at ‘Bloodclaat’)” is a popular curse word in Jamaica, but not many are aware of its History. The word originally was slang for Sanitary Napkins, and it grew legs to be used in a manner of scenarios, and extended to other variations. Kyng Tavii and Kevin2woKrayzee took us back to the days post-Slavery with their new skit to provide their own origin story on the word, with a cast that includes Lando DMajorr, Jimbo Dee, YRN Javel, Jermaine Hall, and Transporter. If you’re squeamish about curse words, this one will make you even more uncomfortable. Tune in for the laughs, another quality clip to enjoy.
