Get Ready For Spicemas With @SlattaMusic’s “Carnival Flu”

Ready to wuk? Ready to have fun? It’s that time again. Grenada looks to turn it up this year at “Spicemas 2023“, so get your things ready. One thing to note however, there is something going around that’s a cause for concern. No it’s not another version of Covid, but according to Grenadian Artist Slatta, it’s a breakout of the “Carnival Flu“!

In this Palm Tree Vybez-directed video, Slatta has caught the “Carnival Flu”, and he’s happy about it. Over sounds by Xpert Productions, the Artist played Mas, and he wasn’t going to stop until he caught the flu. Spicemas will have many catching it, and that’s ok. Just make sure you have your Vitamin C, Vics Rub, Rubbing Alcohol, and Bitters handy. For better results, make sure you have a wining partner. The Carnival Flu is predicted to take over Bajan Crop Over as well, so be prepared.

UK Artist Nao is back on the scene, and is ready to give the people great music. She scored a number of hits over the years including “Another Lifetime“, and she looks secure even more with the help of upcoming releases. She taps into her Caribbean background for her new single, “Balance“.

Featuring Dancehall Artist Skillibeng, Nao gives us a high energy track about feelings and connecting with the right energy that will really have you dancing. Nao steps out boldly on this one, and Skillibeng comes through with some witty lines, and an attitude that will have the ladies reaching out. You can say she was chill with her delivery while Skillibeng brought the heat! The video was shot in Jamaica, and features a few Dancers that make us want to join in on the fun.  Nao is gearing up to release her best work since 2021’s “And Then Life Was Beautiful“. She promises to give listeners another side to her, and the sounds will have you keeping her on repeat. Skilli chalks up another big International collaboration. “Balance” was produced by Omega, Stint, and Nao, and released through Little Tokyo.

Tolga Akcayli Shares Original “Jamaica No Duppy” Anime Trailer, Seeks Crowdfunding Efforts

It’s no secret that Jamaicans love Cartoons. For decades they have been entertained by many kinds that range from 5 minute shorts, to full length movies. There is a percentage of them that love Anime. The Japanese styled Animation has found favour with them thanks to Cable/Satellite TV, VHS, DVD, Print, Video Games, and the Internet over the years. For years there have been discussions for the Island’s best Creatives to make original Anime content with a Jamaican background. While there have been attempts, Vincy Filmmaker Tolga Akcayli looks to make it a reality with his “Jamaica No Duppy – Rise Of The Conqueror” idea.

What originally started as a joke on Social Media platform TikTok, “Jamaica No Duppy” is coming to life, and it needs your help. The Anime focuses on a Samurai who finds himself stranded in Jamaica, and tries to navigate through the Island and its natives in dialogue and other ways. “Jamaica No Duppy” was made possible through years of research and encouragement from Social Media, but like all productions, it costs to put together. Tolga Akcayli made the first major step with a concept trailer that was premiered over the weekend, and is seeking financial help to bring the full Anime to life. The series is still seeking talent, and with the assistance of Crowdfunding platform GoFundMe, Akcayli is campaigning, and you can chip in. One thing about Reggae Music, it’s global. Thanks to the many contributors, it has maintained a presence that inspires, educates, and entertains. Skarra Mucci, a Jamaican based in the UK, continues to be an ambassador for the music, and he continues to spread the good message in “Roots Rock Reggae“.

Done in collaboration with French (by way of Martinique) Artist Yaniss Odua, Skarra Mucci celebrates the music in “Roots Rock Reggae”. With a video directed by Jérémy Mazza, the Artists take over the streets of Marseille, France to perform their song, and bring the people together. Skarra and Yaniss are longtime friends and collaborators, and they bring their “Real Raggamuffin” style to various parts of the globe. The bilingual track was produced by X-Ray Production. Celebrate something good, and celebrate it with Roots Rock Reggae!

Burna Boy is like a Locomotive, he just keeps going. Fresh off of sold out concerts, a special trip to Jamaica, and the recent release of his Apple Music Live Film, he’s loading up the machine to get his upcoming “I Told Them” album in motion. He kept things interesting with “Sittin’ On Top Of The World“, and now we get “Big 7“.

Directed by acclaimed Director Benny Boom and shot in New York, Burna Boy is on his “NY Sh**“, and he’s taking on the city like the African Giant he is. The video finds him at the Ball Park, at the Bodega, and the Pizza Parlour, and he connects with the likes of Hip Hop legends RZA (Wu Tang Clan), Busta Rhymes ,and members of Junior M.A.F.I.A. “Spiderverse” Actor Shameik Moore also makes a cameo appearance. “Big 7” is not only a track that finds Burna enjoying the spoils of his work (with a familiar sample), it’s more evidence of his growing global presence, and the name of his new Record label. Come August 25, the world will listen attentively to his new album, “I Told Them”.

Recording Artist Wayne J has a different perspective on life. The former child star created a wave for a number of years thanks to catchy singles, but his upbringing brought on a different way of life for him. He shares a few words in the video for the new track, “Pain“.

Directed by St. Errol, Wayne J lets listeners in on his experiences and state of mind as a young man growing up in the Ghetto, and dealing with those who do all manner of things in attempts to undermine him while he seeks success. When people think life is easier there, he gives you his perspective, and what he has to go through there. This is the reality for many, and Wayne is just using his platform to amplify their experiences over production by Greatest Records/King Tucker Entertainment.

Wayne J looks to stay consistent with the music, and he is currently working on a new project that should see a 2024 release. Check out some of his previous releases including his collaboration with Blvk H3ro here.
