In case you didn’t know, we’re still in “Cruff SZN“. King Cruff emphasized in our recent feature that he will release more music this year, and before you know it, there will be an album available. Still reaching out to new territories and ears, he has been finding success with “FallBack“, and “LINGO“, and now he’s taking the vibes to North America with, “Toronto Condo Girls“.

Produced by Circa Eleven and Tessellated and featuring Solo YT, King Cruff continues his journey in making music that will stand out. The Artists share their adventures in the big city, the Women they’ve come across, and overall secured another collab over solid production that will be on repeat. Cruff and Solo recently shared their “LINGO” collaboration that has been doing well, so “Toronto Condo Girls” will be another one for the books (Can we expect a collab EP from them?). A lot can happen in the big city, just be careful of the people you interact with.

If you’re a frequent user of Instagram and TikTok, you may have heard the opening line, “I am a _____, of course…“. If you have, then you may have seen your share of content that followed that trend in some from of fashion. It continues to be a popular trend, and it has inspired one Artist to make a song about it, ad his name is Busy Signal. This is a Jamaican Entertainment Blog, of course we’re going to introduce to you new music, like this one called, “#OfCourse“.

Produced by Gorilla Music Source, “#OfCourse” finds Busy Signal adding his few cents to the Social Media trend by incorporating Jamaican culture to it. Throughout the song, Busy shares some of the habits we have as a people, our mannerisms, our likes and dislikes, and a lot more that will have listeners relating to everything said, and wanting to add to it. Busy Signal has been consistent with the music, and he has been securing International collaborations as well. I mean, he’s Busy Signal, of course he’s going to make hits. OLDIES SUNDAY: Phyllis Dillon – Don’t Stay Away (1967)

“Oldies Sunday” was made for those who grew up around the Radio, who grew up with Vinyl Records, Cassettes, CDs, MP3 Players, 8 Track, and Music Streaming platforms. In other words, for those who appreciate the music before our time, and those who lived in the time of these tunes. Today’s selection comes from one of Jamaica’s greatest Songbirds. Her name is Phyllis Dillon, and we’re checking out, “Don’t Stay Away“.

Produced by Duke Reid with backing by Tommy McCook and The Supersonics and released through his Treasure Isle Records in 1967, it’s all about a love that has strong hold on someone in Phyllis Dillon’s “Don’t Stay Away”. Dillon shares that if the Man she’s interested knew the extent of her love, he wouldn’t have considered other Women. While there may be other Women who she claims are more beautiful than her and would try to treat him nice, she believes she would do a better job, and he wouldn’t need another. “Don’t Stay Away” was a hit for Phyllis Dillon, was considered “the finest female performance in Jamaican Music“, and was her first Record with Duke Reid. “Don’t Stay Away” was also sampled by Kes The Band for the track, “Tuesday On The Rocks” in 2012 Dillon went on to voice even more music with Duke Reid, acquiring more success along the way.

Since the release of “Don’t Stay Away”, Phyllis Dillon migrated to the United States, and released more music including her debut album, “One Life To Live” while having a career in the Banking sector. She ended her career as a Recording Artist in 1971, but thanks to an invitation to perform in Jamaica in the early 1990s, she developed a renewed interest in recording and performing. By the mid-1990s, a resurgence of Ska music in the United States lead her back into the Studio, and she remained active touring, performing, and recording until her passing on April 15, 2004 after a battle with Cancer. “Don’t Stay Away” remains one of Dillon’s biggest singles, and is still celebrated around the world.

Recording Artist/Musician/Producer Kris-Karz is back with new music. Fresh from a short hiatus, Karz looks to stay consistent with new content, reconnect with old listeners, and solidify new relationships. His return brings out a new focus, and he makes things interesting with the release of, “Gush“.

The self-produced “Gush” single was released through Kngly Studios, and Kris-Karz aims to have the attention of the ladies for this one. He sets the tone with the opener, “Get sexy to this…“, and from there, it’s all about breaking the tensions, things getting hot and heavy, moans, and dirty talk. When it’s all over, there will be pillow talk, blown minds, and whatever stress that was there before, will cease to exist. Kris-Karz has been catering to the ladies with his selection of tunes over time, and we can expect “Gush” to make waves (pun intended maybe?) in the coming weeks and months. Valiant Makes Major Label Debut With “Flava” Single

Dancehall Artist Valiant is on another level. The Deejay signed with Signal Records/Columbia Records and Epic UK last year, and has been elevating his game even more. The Deejay also secured a MOBO Award in February for “Best Caribbean Music Act“, and now makes his major label debut with the single, “Flava“.

Produced by GuiltyBeatz, Valiant is all about living the good life and doing things in a big way on “Flava”. With his strong presence in Dancehall, the Deejay looks to make this Summer his with the Afrobeats-tinged production. The year already found him burning up the scene with a number of singles including “Lumbah“, “Love Problem“, and “Bubble Gum“, and he is not letting the energy die down no matter what. In a PR statement released through Signal Records, he shared, “Flava is about living large, chasing that paper and staying true to yourself. When I hit the studio for this one, I wanted to capture that vibe of ambition and confidence, and I think we nailed it. Flava is like an anthem for anyone hustling and grinding to make it big.“.
