Nigy Boy’s “Wah Mi Money” Is Next Up On The “Hill & Gully Riddim”

For today’s entry, you’ll be taken back to those moments of your childhood when the Sunday evening programming on TVJ (or JBC) featured very familiar sounds. The “Hill & Gully” agenda continues, even on a Sunday, and Di Genius continues to grow the monster of a Riddim. Yesterday Skippa stepped out with his single, and today we finally get Nigy Boy. Check out, “Wah Mi Money“.

In “Wah Mi Money”, Nigy Boy states clearly that nothing is free, and it’s a shared experience in his world of gift giving. The “Blind Casanova” is aware that the ladies may want something from him, and his love for the ladies ensures that they get it. Just remember, he’s not a claffy, and he wants a return on the supposed investment. The accompanying music video was directed by Rizzy for Now Or Never, and Nigy shows off a few dance moves in between getting close to a few beautiful Women throughout. The visual may not be as jam packed as the locally shot ones, but Nigy’s single still reigns throughout. Who’s next on the “Hill & Gully Riddim“? Stay tuned as some more heavy hitters are on the way.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Serial Kid – Little Shatta (1999)

May is recognized as “Child’s Month“. During this time on “Oldies Sunday“, we highlight some of our former Child stars. Many of our favourites started out in their much younger day, and either found success then, or it helped to develop their careers later in life. Today, we go back into time to check out Teen Recording Artist Serial Kid, and her track, “Little Shatta“.

Produced by “Computer PaulHenton on the “M-16 Riddim” and released through Bootcamp Records in 1999, Serial Kid shares for her affection for a Man who is running the streets in, “Little Shatta”. Infatuation is the name of the game here, and Kid highlights some of the things that she admires in him, even though he lives a life that’s not positive. This is an example of the good girl liking bad boys, which continues to be a reality in today’s world. “Little Shatta” gained some traction for Serial Kid, and was one of the popular entries on the “M-16 Riddim”.

After the release of “Little Shatta”, Serial Kid would release a few more singles. She even made appearances at events like Sting, and Reggae Sumfest. With a lack of support from the music industry despite having great potential and co-signs from a number of prominent Producers, she would leave the music industry shortly after. Her small collection of singles however are still loved by many. “Little Shatta” is still played by many today.

THANK YOU SERIAL KID FOR THIS TUNE!

Skippa "Service" on 13thStreetPromotions.com #Jamaica #Dancehall #Music #13thStreetPromotions #Skippa #Service #DiGenius #HillAndGullyRiddim #MusicVideo #Video #Youtube #Caribbean #NowOrNever #akaRuppi

Skippa Joins The “Hill & Gully Riddim” With “Service”

The “Hill & Gully” agenda continues, and Di Genius is busy cooking up new selections. Whether it’s daytime, or “Nighttime“, Skippa will appear with something new for the people. He’s next up on the “Hill & Gully Riddim“, joining Govana, Elephant Man, Masicka, and Valiant who have shared their official releases. Today, we get, “Service“.

With a video directed by Ruppi for Now Or Never, Skippa finds himself down by the river, and later at the dance in the video for, “Service”. Tapping into fond memories on the countryside, Skippa could be seen doing some fishing, and at the same time admiring some lovely Women who show off their dancing, and washing skills. Things get more fun when Skippa shows up at the dance, and more people get to dancing, and having a grand time. This new video calls for some whites with ice, a Kangol or Fedora, and some slacks with the Clarks. The old school styling throughout fits well with the new Riddim, and we look forward to more releases. While there have been a few who complained about the Riddim this week, we’re just looking forward to this being another cultural moment, and start a new wave like the “WYFL Riddim“. Never heard a Trap Dancehall Artist on an old school Riddim? Tune in.

When “Gyal Good”, @TheAlkaline Has To Put Them In A Music Video

It has been over a month since Dancehall Artist Alkaline released his new album, “NPT“, and it’s still doing numbers. With a few of the album tracks securing places on charts, Alkaline is going nowhere anytime soon. He’s also gearing up for more live performances, so that the album gets more love. One of the album’s tracks, “Gyal Good“, has been receiving a lot of attention, and it’s only right that there’s an official music video.

Directed by Damaniac Visualz, Alkaline takes it to the street with his Women in, “Gyal Good”. He uses the screen to showcase a few Women who are guilty of having the good good, and the colourful visual is bound to be on repeat, further boosting the single’s reach. With a number of visuals already out in support of “NPT”, maybe Alka will go further and just drop videos for the rest of the album. The fans would love that. In the meantime, keep the video busy, and show your love for the music at Alkaline’s next live show.
