In This “Crazy Season”, @MicalTeja & @WeAreFreetown Call For Unity

There’s a lot going on in the world, and we all just want better. If it’s not world leaders putting more pressure on the nations, it’s our own people fighting against each other. At this time, we don’t need conflict, we need unity. In these times, the right voices are needed, and Mical Teja steps up with friends in, “Crazy Season“.

Produced by Tano, Mical Teja, and Kyle Peters and featuring Freetown Collective, Teja calls for unity in this “Crazy Season”. The Artists observe what goes on in the world, and especially in their part of the world, and want the people to come together for a greater good, and overcome the conflicts and oppression that are faced. With a music video directed by Captain Plexx, the Artists share encouragement throughout, highlighting the people type of people living, and give viewers pieces of Trini History. When a world is divided, no progress will be made. When we rally together however, we can make a change. It all starts with one idea, one heart, and one voice. United we stand.

Nordia Mothersille Will Not Be Controlled, You Will Be Left “Wealthy & Lonely”

People will say money will make others have manners towards you and treat you better, but that memo didn’t get to Recording Artist Nordia Mothersille. If you are a person with a terrible attitude and the worst of personalities, all the money in the world won’t save you for long. Nordia has her standards, and if you can’t agree, you will be left “Wealthy & Lonely“.

Produced by Notnice, Nordia Mothersille won’t take disrespect, not for love nor money in “Wealthy & Lonely”. Some Men believe once they have the money, they can get away with anything. The reality is many Women can only tolerate so much, and when they reach a boiling point, the dollars can’t cool her down. Nordia emphasizes her points with a video directed by Rizzy for Now Or Never, and co-starring Evy Royal. “Money mek dem have manners” can’t work with everyone, watch yourself, or be embarrassed.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Conrad Crystal – True Love (1986)

First off, shout out to all the real Fathers on “Father’s Day”!

A few days ago, we lost another Jamaican Icon. Conrad Crystal, a Singer who definitely had a few children in music along with his own, passed away. On today’s “Oldies Sunday“, we pay tribute to a Man who had a voice that commanded the stage. We go back in time to check out, “True Love“.

Produced by Michael Jeffers and released through the Thunder Bolt Label in 1986, Conrad Crystal sings about two hearts finding their way back to each other in, “True Love”. He reflects on the bond he has with his lady, the conflicts they may have had, and despite them parting ways before, they found their way back to each other. In the end, real love never dies. “True Love” quickly found popularity after its release, and was loved in the homes, and in the streets, becoming a massive hit for the Singer. The single was featured on his 1988 debut album of the same name, and continued to win over fans over the years through live performances, and performances on various Sound Systems. It even got new life in the 2000s when Sugar Roy collaborated with Conrad Crystal on a new version of the track.

Since the release of “True Love”, Conrad Crystal went on to release more music, but they never surpassed the success of “True Love”. Sadly, Crystal passed away on June 17 at the age of 61 after a battle with Cancer. “True Love” still gets plenty love today, and his contributions will not be forgotten.

Thank You Conrad Crystal For This Hit! Sleep Well.

.@RieOsei Steps Out From Behind The Mask In “Simon Says”

When it comes to love and relationships, there is a lot of good, but also a lot of bad. Some people live their best lives in love, others lose themselves due to mistreatment and deception. For those lost, some find themselves and flourish, others are not so lucky. For Ghana/Chicago-based Recording Artist Rie Osei, her experience in a relationship put her in a place that she needed to get out of. She talks about it in, “Simon Says“.

Produced by Portia Brajkovic for OWIA, Rie Osei takes heartbreak, loss of self, and disappointments, and turns them into a moment of reflection, and a chance to break free for better in, “Simon Says”. The relationship she was in found her wearing a mask, and it played a major part of losing her identity and changed behaviour in the relationship. The mask may have provided a false sense of hope, control, and protection, and it hid the real person that she is, but the moment of reflection found her realizing what’s happening to her, making her more determined to break out, and find the person she truly is. The mask is highlighted in the single’s Abdul Arafat-crafted artwork, and it pays homage to her Ghanaian masquerade culture. “Simon Says” will resonate with many, and it looks to be a fixture in the coming days.
