Earlier this week, couples of all sorts celebrated their version of love on Valentine’s Day. A lot of music was released this week in celebration of it, including US Recording Artists Don Toliver and Kali Uchis’ single titled, “4 Me“. The Artists, who are an item in real life, showed off not only their skills, but them being a winning pair right now. One addition in making their collaboration a big deal, was it sampling a Dancehall classic.

On Don Toliver and Kali Uchis’ “4 Me”, Dancehall Icon Beenie Man’sGirls Dem Sugar” was sampled throughout! Released in September of 2000, “Girls Dem Sugar” featured US Recording Artist Mya, and was produced by The Neptunes. The track was a remix of Beenie’s 1997 hit “Who Am I (Sim Simma)“, and was featured on his 2000 GRAMMY-winning album, “Art and Life“. “4 Me” sampled various parts of the hit single, and is expected to become a favourite for fans and new listeners alike.”4 Me” will be featured on Toliver’s “LoveSick” album which is due on February 24.

Eddie Zuko "Still" on #Jamaica #Reggae #California #EddieZuko #AltonEllis #Still #ImStillInLove #USA #Chicano

Eddie Zuko Promotes Love With Alton Ellis-Sampled, “Still”!

Reggae Music has taken quite the journey since its inception. With the mouths of many singing their favourite songs from some of the most creative forces behind them, the genre has shown its staying power over and over, and has influenced so much. In the US, Reggae has had a hand in the establishment of many bands. From Sublime, to Rebelution, to SOJA, to Big Mountain, the music took on a different life outside of Jamaica, bringing in a new audience. For California Artist Eddie Zuko, he taps into a Rocksteady classic for his single called, “Still“.

Produced by J.LBS and Paul Redona, Eddie Zuko’s “Still” samples the late Alton Ellis classic, “I’m Still In Love“. “I’m Still In Love” was produced by Sir Coxsone Dodd, and released through Studio One in 1967. Eddie Suko borrowed part of the chorus, and some of the production behind the original for “Still”, which finds the Artist professing his continuous love for the special person in his life. Many relationships have gone by the wayside or have faced roadblocks, but the love for one another is still embedded in each partner’s core. There will be doubts, there will be fights, but as they say, “Love conquers all“.

Eddie Zuko’s “Still” has been enjoying some viral love in the past few weeks namely on TikTok, with many requesting for the song to be officially available. Accompanying the single, is a music video directed by Brok Wood, and it finds Eddie performing the track with Musicians Paul & Csmo. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, why not dedicate this one to someone special?

NEW VIDEO: @Mr_BlakkaMoore x @KabakaPyramid – For The Children

KJToday’s new video comes from Kabaka Pyramid and Jahdan Blakkamoore. Titled “For The Children” and shot in California, we hear the two lyricists promote consciousness and encouraging self-reliance for the ghetto youths out there who are facing struggles. A very positive song that should uplift all who take a listen to it. I like how children took part in the video as well. Spread your wings and fly. The song, produced by Zion I Kings, is available on iTunes now. Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
