In the Dancehall culture, one of most important aspects is the Dubplate. Vital in Soundclashes and dances, it can either make or break a Sound System. Today, via Boomshoots, DJ/Producer DJ Khaled shows off some of his most cherished Dubplates. Khaled, no stranger to the Dancehall culture, played dubs from the likes of Buju Banton, Bounty Killa, Beres Hammond, Capleton, and more. This is a great watch (and listen) here as I’ve been familiar with DJ Khaled’s presences in the Dancehall. Older fans might remember his appearances at events such as “Fully Loaded” and his contributions via mixtapes. Can he beat Wyclef for having the most expensive dubplate? Stay tuned. A very entertaining song here, If you’re familiar with Benzly Hype and the Innocent Kru, you’ll know they create songs for every taste. Looking forward to the new mixtape and in the meanwhile check out Scribz’s
Today’s Mixtape comes from the tag team of Equiknoxx Music and Kabaka Pyramid. Titled “Dubplates In Dub“, Kabaka pays tribute to the Jamaican Sound System culture by recording 6 original tracks and freestyles over Channel One instrumentals. Following in the same steps as the “Equiknoxx Introduces Masicka To King Tubby” mixtape, this is sure to bring the new and old generations together. With Kabaka’s lyrical prowess, this is sure to be an “accurate” project. Check out the mixtape below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
