OLDIES SUNDAY: Pluto Shervington – Your Honour (1975)


Recently, Jamaican music lost an Icon, the late Pluto Shervington. Quite the contributor to the culture, Shervington delivered a number of hits over the years, and lent his production prowess to a number of Artists. He will be missed by many. We’ve featured him previously, but today’s “Oldies Sunday” selection highlights his classic single, “Your Honour“.

Produced by Paul Khouri and released through the Wild Flower label in 1975, Pluto Shervington pleads his case in “Your Honour”. While held in Court, Pluto defends himself against an accusation that he was having relations with another man’s Wife. While he was caught in the couple’s bedroom closet and beaten by an angry Husband, he pleads that he is innocent, and shares that the Wife would defend him as he is a better man than the Husband. With its comedic element, “Your Honour” quickly became a hit for Pluto Shervington, securing a place in the UK Top 20 Music Chart. The song was included on the albums “Pluto” and “Again“.

Since the release of “Your Honour”, Pluto Shervington enjoyed a career locally and Internationally, performing at various venues, and releasing many more songs. Shervington transitioned on January 19, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will be celebrated for years to come. “Your Honour” remains one of his most recognized singles.

Alexx A-Game To Make Acting Debut In @OneLoveMovie


Last year, we highlighted that come 2024, an official Biopic on the life of the late Reggae legend Bob Marley will be released. Titled “Bob Marley: One Love”, we shared that a number of prominent names in Jamaican music will make their acting debuts as key characters. One name, who will also play a key character, wasn’t announced until recently. His name is Alex Gallimore, but the music scene knows him as Alexx A-Game.

Alexx A-Game will make his acting debut in the long-awaited “Bob Marley: One Love” Film. Playing the role of the legendary Peter Tosh, A-Game knows that his role is very important as the late Tosh was a founding member of The Wailers along with Marley and the late Bunny Wailer, and an iconic figure in Reggae Music. “I’m still searching for words to express the feeling,” shared an ecstatic A-Game in a recent Instagram post. “I’m more than honored to be a part of the telling of the legendary story of BOB MARLEY. It has been a life changing experience. Thanks to Avy Kaufman, Reinaldo Marcus-Green, Ziggy Marley, and Paramount Pictures and the rest of the team for trusting me with the role of an iconic and legendary figure such as ‘Peter Tosh’. I got a chance to work with some of the most amazing people in Film/Production who are now family.

Alexx A-Game, a former member of the Blu Print Band, has been an active as a solo Artist since the early 2010s, releasing a number of singles including “A-Game Everyday“, “Double” featuring Tory Lanez, “Rise Up Now“, “Go Harder“, and a couple Mixtapes including “Real ‘N’ True Vol. 1“. An Artist and Producer under his New Level Music Group label, he looks to release a number of singles this year including “More Life” on January 19, and increase his presence as a Creative. Fans and newcomers can look forward to A-Game’s Film debut when “Bob Marley: One Love” hits Theatres on February 14.

Regardless of what’s going on, it’s Christmas time on Oldies Sunday! We go back in time to check out a selection by UK Reggae Band The Cimarons called, “Holy Christmas“.

Produced by Robert Thompson and E. Mulby for A House Production and released through the Downtown label in 1971, The Cimarons celebrated the true reason for the season in “Holy Christmas”. The song recognizes the birth of Jesus Christ, and encourages everyone to sing of his birth, and foster the right spirit, and sing aloud. Heph B Preps “Strength Of A Lion” Album For Holiday Release


The holidays are here, and AfroDancehall Artist Heph B is working on his role as Santa. With the 4th quarter of the year being one of the most popular times for music releases, the Artist looks to contribute to the season with new music. He made his presence felt earlier this year with singles, and now he’s readying for the release of the “Strength Of A Lion” album.

Announced in the later part of summer 2023, Heph B looks to set the tone again with “Strength Of A Lion”. The 14-track album is a follow up to the successful “AMARII” and “AMARII (Deluxe)” releases, and Heph describes it as his best body of work. The Artist taps into Dancehall, Reggae, Pop, Afrobeats, and Amapiano sounds, and shares other sides to his life and personality here. Production on “Strength Of A Lion” will feature the likes of Tower Beatz, BeatsByJoel, Disaster Music, Zena, and longtime Producer Steve Rawd, while the album will feature collaborations with Sacryfyce, John Concepcion, Bolojay, Dotman, and Starr Healer. Heph B promises a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience with the new album, and fans will make it a great addition to their music collection.

Heph B recently concluded his multi-city “AMARII World Tour”, and has a few plans in store after the release of “Strength Of A Lion”. Fans can look forward to live performances from him later this month, and stay tuned for more announcements.

Heph B’s “Strength Of A Lion” album is set for a December 22 release through DAE Records on all digital music streaming platforms.
