Being a member of the fast rising artists which include Protoje, Chronixx and Jah 9, Jesse Royal has been making a name for himself with his blend of music. Now added to the upcoming Reggae Sumfest, he had a quick chat with Winford Williams to speak on that and more. Here he spoke about his start and describing it as “From creeping to walking“, getting great support for his music, being groomed in the Church, being a part of the “Reggae Revolution” and contributing to bring more consciousness to the genre, being a devout Rastafarian, Reggae Sumfest and future projects which include his “Royally Speaking” mixtape with Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire. International Reggae Day is not only a day to recognize the power of Reggae music, but to remember those who’ve paved the way for other artists to create it. Known as the “Cool Ruler“, Gregory Isaacs warmed many hearts and captured the attention of many with his smooth deliveries and lyrics. With over 500 albums to his name, Gregory was always working and delivering the hits worldwide. On International Reggae Day not only do we celebrate Reggae Music, but celebrate the lives of many who contributed to the genre. One artist who is celebrated today is the late Dennis Emmanuel Brown. Known as the “Crown Prince of Reggae“, Dennis Brown was a top tier Reggae artist who created beautiful songs that captured the hearts of many and influenced many upcoming artists. Having passed away on July 1, 1999, I use today to highlight one of his many concerts. Two generations come together today for a new awesome song! The artists are Reggae legend Beres Hammond and his daughter The Wizard. Here The Wizard remixes the timeless “Rockaway” and dubs it the “Wizophelia Mix“. Utilizing the chorus from the song, Wiz adds her electronic sounds to give it that futuristic vibe.
