For over 50 years, Clive Hunt has been a name to know in Reggae Music. His hands crafted sounds for many legendary Artists, built careers, and built a grand legacy. Whoever you name in Jamaican music, Hunt’s name is somewhere in the credits. Still doing the necessary work, he takes the time to put himself on the stage like never before. He steps out with the new album, “Undeniably Clive Hunt a.k.a. Lizzard“.

Featuring 11 tracks, Clive Hunt gets vocal for his new album, “Undeniably Clive Hunt a.k.a. Lizzard”. While he is a great conversationalist, he gets to singing on the album, sharing a side that only a few got a chance to experience. Comprised of songs he has written, co-written, and recorded over the years, he taps into a lot of social commentary, showcasing an extension of his array of skills which includes his production and arrangement throughout with Co-Producer Rowen Johnson for Love Injection Productions. French Recording Artist Yaniss Odua makes an appearance for one track.

At the age of 74, Clive Hunt shows that he’s still strong with the creativity, and along as there is life, anything is possible. Get to know this other side of a Reggae legend.

Eesah Taps In With Bunny Lee, The Aggrovators, & Echoslim For “Sum Ting Nice”

It may be Thursday, but Reggae music is an everyday thing. Today we get in the groove with some old that’s made new. The late Producer Bunny “Striker” Lee delivered great music for decades, lending his sound to Artists like Beenie Man, Stranger Cole, Johnny Clarke, Pat Kelly, Max Romeo, Eric Donaldson, Dennis Alcapone, and many more. His work is still celebrated, and recently Eesah paid homage with a “More Than Special” single that’s “Sum Ting Nice“.

Produced by Echoslim who tapped into the sounds of Bunny Lee and The Aggrovators’ “Don’t Stay Away Riddim” along with the Wex! The Master who delivers an outstanding Saxophone performance, Eesah dedicates “More Than Special (Sum Ting Nice)” to that Woman who is “sweeter than honey“. Eesah does justice to the Riddim, delivering a feel-good track that will have the Women blushing. Those familiar with the original “Don’t Stay Away Riddim” featured the classic Phyllis Dillon’s “Don’t Stay Away”, and was later sampled by Artists like The Blackstones for their track “Worried Man“. Something to groove to today, and every day.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Black Slate – Freedom Time (1980)

August 1 is recognized as “Emancipation Day“. On that day in 1834, the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833 came into force, and various parts of the Caribbean celebrate on that day. On “Oldies Sunday“, we revel in the celebrations through music. For today’s entry, we go back in time to check out British Band Black Slate’s “Freedom Time“.

Released through Ensign/Mercury Records in 1980, the self-produced “Freedom Time” found Black Slate called for the liberation of the people. The song found the Band in celebration mode, anticipating for the arrival of the Marcus Garvey-founded Black Star Line (also popularly known as the Black Star Liner), that will take us all home. The easy-going production helped to amplify the lyrics and melodies throughout, encouraging listeners join in on a special moment. “Freedom Time” was featured on the Band’s sophomore album “Amigo“, and despite not being released as a single, it found its following over the years. The song would add to the album’s success

Since the release of “Freedom Time”, Black Slate continued to release more music, and score a few hits over the years. The Band is still active, and many continue to play their music, including “Freedom Time”.

The Summer belongs to many Artists, including Blvk H3ro. For him, it’s a good time to hit the streets, and perform live for the people. He covered a few cities in the US and Europe so far, and his discography is being enjoyed by new and older fans. He keeps the vibes going with, “Phenomenal“.

Done in collaboration with Yungg Tripp and released through Boomyard, Blvk H3ro gets into exhibition mode for, “Phenomenal”. This one is for the big bad sounds, and he’s performing with nearly full strength here. While listeners are used to his melodic singles, when Blvk H3ro deejays, he sets himself apart from many. He takes it to the streets with Yungg Trip in a Jaakko Manninen-directed visual. With just a Microphone and a DJ setup, the vibe intensifies, and we get a simple but effective visual. Blvk H3ro continues to take his music on the road, be on the look out for a stop near you.

With the addition of music, those connections have been made under the right vibes. Enter Lila Ike with something that will bring in the love the right way. Check out, “What It Feels Like“.

Directed by SAMO, Lila Ike embraces that good love in, “What It Feels Like”. Taking to the seas with her love interest, Lila gives us a great visual, presenting that visual of living in love in Jamaica, and preserving that connection. Produced by Winta James and The Indiggnation, this single was released on the “Feel It Riddim“. Lila has been taking on the International stages over the past few weeks, and those who have yet to see her live, will be in for a treat when the opportunity arises. This is for the lovers.
