Kickraux, DJ Crazy Neil, Abel & Lexo Make The Connection In “Tell Mi (Verdad)”

It has been said before that Reggae Music is universal, and it continues to be that way today. You can drop a pin on any part of the world, and hear someone either enjoying some Reggae selections, or making their own Reggae song or Riddim. When it’s done in combination with other genres, it can be a beautiful thing. US-based Producer Kickraux has been cooking up lately, and what he has in store for the rest of the year is life-changing. This time around, he gives us an Introduction to a duo who look to cause a major shift this year. From Venezuela we get Reggaeton Artists Abel & Lexo, and we now check out their single, “Tell Mi (Verdad)“.

Featuring the “Mobay PresidentDJ Crazy Neil, Kickraux brings Reggae and Latin Music together for even more vibes with Abel & Lexo on “Tell Mi (Verdad)”/”Tell Me The Truth“. When things don’t seem right in the air and the person you care about seems shifty, the duo pick up on the cues and just want the truth to come out. Is it deception? Is it just a bad day? Talk up! The classic Reggae production blends well with the duo’s lyrics, and listeners can’t help but dance to the sounds. “Tell Mi (Verdad)” is just one of the few releases through Kickraux and 11often in the past few months including If It’s Too Heavy” with Yaksta, and with Abel & Lexo at the forefront, we will be hearing even more leading to an official project from the duo. ¡Dime la verdad!

Matthew Malcolm Speaks On Life In “Seaview” On New Single

No matter where we are in the world, we always remember where we’re coming from. From hardships, to luxurious lifestyles, many of our backgrounds vary in society, but we carry forward memories, life-changing events, cherished moments, sacred bonds, and trauma as well. For Recording Artist/Actor Matthew Malcolm, he reflects on home. He shares a song about it called, “Seaview“.

Produced by Urban Villah and released through Dubshot Records, Matthew Malcolm shares a visual of life that is lived by many in “Seaview”. It’s a place where many birthed their ambitions and later achieved them, a place where many joyous times happened, a place where dark days and cold nights seem like they will never end, where many found ways and means to survive, and sadly where hope came, and died. Malcolm sheds light on people suffering in the community, the injustice many face, and even shares his thoughts on another community thousands of miles away that has its own share of hardship and injustice. This is not a dancing song, this is reality, and Matthew Malcolm uses his voice to bring awareness. Take a listen to this one.

Within the past couple of years, Recording Artist Mortimer’s time was filled with a number of performances, and he released music that locked in quickly with listeners. The past year also put his name in golden letters as his 2024 debut project, “From Within” was nominated for a GRAMMY for “Best Reggae Album“. He didn’t win the coveted award, but the rest of the world started paying more attention to him. Fresh off of the red carpet, he gives us a visual for the single, “Flowers & Flames“.

Directed by SAMO, Mortimer puts his music on the screens again with the Visualizer for his 2025 single, “Flowers & Flames”. The visual is filled with warm tones throughout, complimenting Mortimer’s performance, and the flames that are present. “Flowers & Flames” quickly became a favourite for listeners, and if you’re in Jamaica, you can hear it being performed live at the upcoming “Lost In Time Festival” on February 28 at Hope Gardens in Kingston. OLDIES SUNDAY: Norris Man – Persistence (1997)

Reggae Music is universal. The music speaks on the hardship of Black people, the liberation of the Black people from oppression, and the consciousness of the Black Man. It’s Black History Month and Reggae Month, and on “Oldies Sunday” we celebrate Black Music. We go back to check out Norris Man’s “Persistence“.

Produced by Colin Levy for King Of Kings Production and released through M-Phatic Music in 1997, Norris Man encourages us to be more focused on the mission, uphold your morals, and to be more conscious in, “Persistence”. The song calls for people to be free from the ills of the world, and despite your troubles, never let the enemy know your most vulnerable points and times in life. “Persistence” quickly became a hit for Norris Man, and it brought his name to many parts of Jamaica, and the rest of the world. The single was featured on his 1999 debut album of the same name.

Since the release of “Persistence”, Norris Man went on to release more music over the years. He faced some backlash after a feud with Reggae Artist Sizzla, but he managed to overcome and secure a sizable fanbase from various parts of the world. He is still active, and many still play “Persistence” to this day.

Thank You Norris Man For This Classic!
