Masicka Celebrates Birthday With “Trophies”

Today, Dancehall Artist Masicka celebrates an important day, his birthday. He has solidified his status as a Dancehall legend under 40, and this year has opened up many doors to great opportunities for his career, and life. Life is the greatest thing, and he reflects on, “Trophies“.

In a video directed by Ruppi for Now Or Never, it’s a celebration in Masicka’s “Trophies”. The video finds him in the Studio putting together his song while recognizing his recent achievements. The video later moves to him delivering some of his plaques to his Grandmother, and highlighting “Lil Sicka” who has ambitions for success like him. The “Lil Sicka not only symbolizes the Deejay’s sons wanting to follow in his footsteps, but the young fans who look up to him like he did to various Dancehall legends in his childhood days. Masicka followed through on his dreams, and all that has happened for him is a part of his destiny. May the Deejay have many more years, and may his new year be filled with more blessings.

Dancehall Artist Devin Di Dakta has been one of those Artists who spoke his mind. When he takes podium, he speaks on people and situations that are sure to ruffle feathers. He has engaged in numerous conflicts because of his words, but they didn’t deter him. On his new single “Truth Hurts“, he’s not backing down.

Produced by Qvarismatik, Devin Di Dakta gets harsh and direct in “Truth Hurts”. He addresses the nation, and puts the spotlight on individuals who have contributed to the downfall of society, calling out any and everyone who played their part in the harshest way possible. No one is safe on this track, and Devin’s care meter has gone dry as he steps on corns, toes, necks, and hearts. He speaks on the realities of the world, and exposes many who were supposed to do the right things, and play positive role models. Those who support the individuals mentioned are not spared either, and Devin gets loud on them with no fear. Will “Truth Hurts” cause a rise of more truth music? Only time will tell. OLDIES SUNDAY (Christmas): The MerryMen – Drink A Rum (1974)

It’s December, and that means it’s Christmas time! No matter what has been happening in the year, we all look forward to this holiday season. With the holidays come time off for the schoolers, and for the older crowd it’s party time in every way, or an extra payday. For today’s Oldies Sunday selection, we head over to Barbados, who just celebrated their Independence Day, to check out The Merrymen’s version of, “Drink A Rum“.

Produced by The Merrymen for Merry Disc and released in 1974, “Drink A Rum” is a cover version of Trini Calypso legend Lord Kitchener’s 1959 track of the same name. The Merrymen group, which is consisted of 5 members, all performed the track, blending harmonies and instruments for a song that celebrated the drinking part of the holiday season. Rum in various forms are consumed, and they are sure to bring the joy, warmth into the chilly time, and “kick” into the joyous occasions. While the original “Drink A Rum” was a popular Calypso song, their version did well in Barbados, throughout the Caribbean, and other parts of the world, and became a song that enjoyed radio airplay around the Christmas season. The track was released on their 1988 Christmas album, “Caribbean Christmas Party“. The group have been enjoying a considerable amount of fame, and they performed the song on the road.

Emerging Dancehall Artist Soun Bwoii has making steady gains in the music scene this year. Having gone viral with his releases, he aims for 2025 to really put him on a major platform. He looks to end this year with a bang, and he has a couple tricks of his sleeve. For his next move, he steps out with the single, “Soul Snatcher“.

Co-Produced by Ce’cile and Dale Virgo and released through VP Records, Soun Bwoii delivers something new for the ladies with “Soul Snatcher”. The new single is a dedication to that talented Woman who knows the tricks to keep her Man wanting more from her. Soun reflects on his moments with her, and shows admiration for her from the looks, to everything about her that impresses him. He delivers melodies over some solid production, and we expect the new single to make its rounds in the coming days. When the ladies need loving, they make the necessary moves to get some. For upcoming Dancehall Artist Kyst, he understands that he will have quite a task ahead of him when his phone gets to ringing. The ladies keep him on speed dial in “Fee Fi Fo“.

Produced by Qvarismatik for Northcoast Ambassadors Entertainment, Kyst gets to handle all the ladies’ requests in “Fee Fi Fo”. He explicitly shares his intentions with them, with the goal of keeping them satisfied, and having him at the top of their lists. The demand is serious when Kyst’s phone rings in the Duckie Got Films-directed Music Video, and a car is sent for him to take him to the mission. The rest of the video finds him getting flirty with a young Woman while he performs his raunchy single. The Singjay has been having a very successful year filled with trending singles, sold out shows, and a greater presence in Jamaica, and other parts of the world. For his newest release, he has some matters to attend to in, “Upside Down“.

Produced by Tru Ambassador Ent.’s own Week.Day, 450 is on the defense in “Upside Down”. When it comes to his crew, his allegiances, and friends, things will get drastic if any harm comes to them. 450 on the dark side is not one to ask for, and his opps will have to fall back when there is retaliation.
