Likkle Addi & Vybz Kartel Run The League In “M.O.T.M (Man Of The Match)”

The Dancehall world has been enjoying the day to day life of Vybz Kartel, and the inclusion of his many co-stars. Plenty of these co-stars have been heavily campaigning for his release over the years and kept his name alive, and those include his sons Likkle Addi, Likkle Vybz, and Aiko. The sons have been busy with their own music as well, and they’ve managed to build their respective fanbases. With the release of Kartel, there will be a lot more collaborations, including “M.O.T.M (Man Of The Match)“.

Featuring Likkle Addi and produced by Uptown Gaza Records, “M.O.T.M” is a “like father like son” track that finds the duo solidifying their presence in Dancehall, and while Vybz Kartel is an enigma, he believes his sons will be just as great, if not greater than him. The accompanying Music Video, directed by CVE, finds Kartel, Addi, and Likkle Vybz ruling the pitch as “Gaza City FC” to adoring Cheerleaders, enjoying the spoils of their labour, and we even see Kartel suiting up like Marlon Samuels for a game of Cricket. Good to see the World Boss physically present with his children, and the Palmers boys are up to something, so stay tuned.

Compass Releases “She” Fi Di Bad Gyal Dem

No matter the weather, no matter the season, a hot girl is a hot girl all year round. Dancehall Artist Compass has been on the scene for quite some time, and has been gaining recognition on Social Media thanks to some of his musical releases. One thing for sure, he loves him a bad gyal, and he has his eyes on one in the video for the single, “She”.

Directed by One Rizzo, Compass finds himself a beautiful Woman who he can’t stay far from in, “She”. Their initial meeting up in the Neighbourhood quickly turned into a dancing session, with the featured beauty showing off the moves that have Men going crazy. They take their adventures further into the Supermarket, and make for a fun and quick visual. “She” was produced by Izlam Records, and Compass borrows a little from the hit 1990 single, “Gun Inna Baggy” by Little Lenny. Expect a lot more from Compass later this year, but he encourages his supporters to keep “She” busy in the streets, and on the streams.

450 Lives The Gyalis Life In “No Attachment”

Dancehall Artist 450 continues to elevate, and it’s a good look. The Artist doesn’t get involved in petty matters, you don’t hear his name in drama, he just makes music, gets bookings, and builds his fanbase. He recently showed Canada a good time with a sold out show, and has been enjoying the fruits of his labour with his Tru Ambassador Ent. team. He keeps the music going with the release of “No Attachment“.

Produced by DHW Recordings, 450 is living the gyalis life in “No Attachment”. He’s making moves on this girl, that girl, your girl, and they have their moments before going their separate ways. 450 doesn’t have time for anything long-term, and don’t think you can tie him down. The Singjay keep his music factory busy with new content, but some have been asking for an album. Will we get that request fulfilled in 2025? We just have to wait and see. In the meantime, catch him in a city near you taking over the stages, clubs, and show grounds. It’s 10 minutes to 5, time for new 450.

Eddy G Bomba Shares Much-Anticipated Video For “Luigi”

It’s money time, and Dancehall Artist Eddy G Bomba is trying to get it by any means necessary. The Deejay has been gaining popularity thanks to his releases, and possessing a unique flow that has been a standout. He’s getting to the green like “Luigi” in his new video.

Directed by Chadd Henry for Kreative Klique, Eddy G Bomba aims for riches in “Luigi”. To have the kind of richness that’s likened to a can of chunky Jack Mackerel is a crazy line, but the Deejay believes in the dream of making it happen. The deejay is counting money, pouring liquor, and speeding in flashy rides throughout the clip, and viewers get a glimpse of what goes on in the streets. “Luigi”, which was inspired by video game character Luigi from Super Mario Bros and his choice of green wardrobe, was produced by Cash Code Records. OLDIES SUNDAY: Tito Puente – Oye Cómo Va (1962)

We’re celebrating Hispanic Heritage Monthon Oldies SundayHispanic Americans made significant contributions from entertainment, to sports, to pop culture, and we have highlighted a number of them. Today’s feature comes from Puerto Rican-American Musician Tito Puente with the track, “Oye Cómo Va“.

Composed by Tito Puente and released through Tico Records in 1962, “Oye Cómo Va” is a celebration of rhythm, as it features very little vocals. Carried by horn, percussion, piano, flutes, and string arrangements, the Cha-Cha-Chá track encouraged dancing, and plenty was done when this was released. The track was inspired by Cuban Composer Cachao’s Mambo track “Chanchullo” from 1957, and listeners could hear the similarities in the arrangement. “Oye Cómo Va” was featured on Puente’s 1962 album, “El Rey: Bravo“, and success for the track came soon after as it was covered by American Rock Band Santana (lead by Mexican-American Musician Carlos Santana) in 1971 to high chart placements, and a place in the Latin Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2001, and the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2002. The track was also covered by Joe Cuba, Julio Iglesias, Celia Cruz, Kinky, Natalie Cole, and Chisato Moritaka.

Since the release of “Oye Cómo Va”, Tito Puente went on the enjoy a decades-long music career, dabbled in making TV appearances, collected awards and accolades, and shared his music with the world stage until his passing in 2000. “Oye Cómo Va” remains one of his most recognizable compositions, and a representation of the interconnectedness, transnationality, and hybridity of Latin Music in the US.
