OLDIES SUNDAY: Thriller U – Sweetest Sound (1989)

Today, we celebrate one of Jamaica’s respected Vocalists, Thriller U. Today (August 14) he celebrates his birthday, and for our Oldies Sunday selection, we highlight one of his earliest singles, “Sweetest Sound“.

Produced by “Bobby Digital” Dixon on the “Peanie Peanie Riddim” and released through Digital-B Records in 1989, Thriller U, a then Teen sensation, gives us a song that all the DJs loved. With his smooth vocals, Thriller U borrows from Anita Wards’ 1979 Disco hit, “Ring My Bell” for the chorus of a song that goes into attack mode for any “Soundbwoy” who wants to test a Champion Sound. Whether they ensure that the vibes is right at a party or secure victory at any Sound Clash, Thriller U sings for the sound that runs the place. “Sweetest Sound” was included in the compilation album “Two Good To Be True” featuring Admiral Tibet, that was released in 1989 through Digital-B Records.

Since the release of “Sweetest Sound”, Thriller U went on to enjoy a successful solo career, and became a member of the super group L.U.S.T. with Singing Melody, Lukie D, and Tony Curtis. Thriller U is still active with a plethora of singles out, and he still gives his all with every performance. Big up Thriller on his birthday!

Thank You Thriller U For This Classic!

Krys Evans Connects With Teejay On “All Night”!

US based Recording Artist Krys Evans is gearing up to add some hits to her growing catalogue this year, and beyond. She has been putting in the work behind the scenes, and she’s now ready to make her contribution to turning up the heat this Summer. Today, she released her latest single, “All Night“.

Released through JAHLEP Entertainment, Krys Evans teams up with Dancehall Artist Teejay on “All Night”. The new single is for the lovers, and those who wish to be closer to the one they love. In a time where being in love is not promoted as much, Krys and Teejay made a song that will find new love blooming for many, and those who have a history of love to continue making it better.

All Night” is a fun record that speaks on intimacy and wanting to spend every waking moment with your lover. I wrote this record because no one talks about being in love anymore and how sweet it feels. Waking up next to someone you care about deeply makes you feel complete. I wanted to tap into that on this record,” shared Krys Evans. The collaboration shows two Artists who have great deliveries, and could be a sign of more music from them. “All Night” is the Dancehall follow up to Krys’ 2021 collaboration with Reggae/Dancehall legend Sizzla Kalonji called, “On Everything.

For those unfamiliar with Krys Evans, she is a Singer, Songwriter, and Rapper, and has collaborated with Jim Jones, Murda Mook, and Loaded Lux. She released her debut album, “Resilient” in 2020, and looks to follow up in 2023.

OLDIES SUNDAY: David Isaacs – Good Father (1969)

Today around the world, Fathers, Dads, Pops, Papas, Papis, StepFathersUncles, Grandpas, and big Brothers are being celebrated on Father’s Day. While not many see today as a negative one, we celebrate the real Fathers who do everything to have a great presence in the life of their child/children. Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from Recording Artist David Isaacs with the track, “Good Father“.

Produced by Lee “Scratch” Perry and released through the Upsetters Label in 1969, David Isaacs shares some of the things a good Father does. David shares his signature vocals throughout with the help of backup Singers, and Lee “Scratch” Perry’s thumping production compliments the song well. Not many songs have been released celebrating Fathers over the years, but appreciation is shown for those that made it to the mainstream.

For those who have been called Deadbeat Fathers, Absent Fathers, “Sperm Donors”, and the like, you need to wise up! There are so many who wish to have their Fathers present but are unable due to tragedies and other reasons, but you chose to abandon those who really need you. There are even some of you who take on the Stepfather role to someone else’s kids while you ignore yours. We could’ve had a lot more songs for Dad had you lot done what you’re supposed to do. If you were called any of the above names, DO BETTER!

thank you David Isaacs for this track! Happy Father’s Day!
