Being broke is not an option for many and coming from the Gully side, Mavado proclaims in his new single “I Ain’t Going Back Broke!“. With Rappers Future and Ace Hood accompanying the Gully God and a La Roux sample, they speak on coming from nothing to being something, being able to provide for their families and never wanting to be destitute anymore. By the sounds of the single, Mavado might have a hit here as it’s a little different from his previous International efforts. A former member of the Portmore Empire, Kym, then known as “Gaza Kym“, made a name for herself. Things went left since her public feud with the “World Boss” Vybz Kartel five years ago. Tonight she’s on a mission to rejuvenate her music career. Here she spoke on the incident, being blackballed in the music industry, a little on her background, working on her career now, and upcoming music. She also gave viewers a taste of what she’s been working on. Good to see Kym making moves to get back her name out there. After causing quite some controversy last year, what does 2015 have in store for Alkaline? Tonight on Onstage he spoke on being public enemy #1, his absence from Sting 2014, focusing on his career and claiming to being above many of his musical peers, avoiding clashes, “Vendetta“, his performance at Reggae Sumfest 2014, his new look, his debut appearance in the US and more music. Despite being a target in Dancehall, Alkaline continued to make a name for himself worldwide. You can’t help but respect that. Dropping something for the ladies from all the way in Austria is Dancehall Artist/Producer Jami Dread. Titled “Privilege” and produced by Jami for his label Lyrical War Records, we hear him speak to the ladies who know they stand out from the rest, and possess the kind of beauty that will have men leaving their current lady to take care of her. He also highlights their attitudes and actions and knows it’s because of their qualities why they have that privilege. Not a bad effort here, Jami did well over his own production.
