Vybz Kartel Celebrates 10th Anniversary Of “Viking” Album, Adds 7 New Tracks

2025 is the year for celebrations, and new developments. For Dancehall Artist Vybz Kartel, he has been celebrating life as a free Man, and has enjoyed plenty of moments with friends, family, and fans. Earlier this month, he celebrated the 10th anniversary of his “Viking (Vybz Is King)” album, and shared plans to re-release it. Earlier today, he officially released the new album with 7 new tracks.

The 2015 version of the “Viking (Vybz Is King)” album further signified the relevance of Vybz Kartel, despite him being incarcerated at the time. The album scored big with the singles, “Dancehall“, “Unstoppable“, “Enchanting“, and “Gon’ Get Better“, and was hailed as one of the best Dancehall albums of the 2010s. For the 10 year anniversary, Vybz added the singles, “Amout“, “Str8 Vybz“, “It A Tape“, “Polite“, “Dreams Are Made Of“, “God Is The Greatest“, and “Porn Flick” with Ishawna. TJ Records continued to handle production on the new album, and will instantly become a collector’s item for the fans. Here’s to 10 more years, and let’s see what else the “World Boss” has in store for the year.

It’s a new year, but we’re still dealing with familiar issues. We all love having good people in our corner, but time shows that many will step out and do you wrong. They may come as a surprise sometimes, but for someone who is alert, it was only a matter of time before the moments happened. Dancehall Artist Kranium deals with this and more in, “Cut The Link“.

Featuring Dancehall Artist Masicka and produced by TJ Records, Kranium deals with fake people in “Cut The Link”. It’s never good when someone who you’ve confided in and trusted betrays you, and while some of us may have a forgiving heart, there are people in the world who are only good for an image, but have dirty minds, hearts, and intentions. All you can do is cut them off. Kranium and Masicka share their experiences, and offer words of advice and encouragement to the listener who is going through similar situations. The world is crazy, and houses crazier people, just be on your guard.

Vybz Kartel Celebrates 10 Years Of “Viking” & Birthday With “Str8 Vybz” Visual

Today, January 7, is a big day in Dancehall as Vybz Kartel celebrates his 49th birthday. The Deejay enjoys his first birthday as a free Man in over 13 years, and has already made it one of his best birthdays. Come January 13, Vybz will celebrate the 10 year anniversary of his album, “Viking (Vybz Is King)” with a special version. The anniversary album will feature new songs, and one of them will be, “Str8 Vybz“.

Produced by TJ Records/Adidjahiem Records, “Str8 Vybz” finds Vybz Kartel not only enjoying the nightlife, but the release of his “Str8 Vybz” Liquor line. Launched in late 2024, “Str8 Vybz Rum” has already made dents in the Caribbean, and other parts of the world. The “Str8 Vybz” track takes us back to the late 2000s and early 2010s when Kartel had a song for every party. The visual, directed by Shane Creative, comes off like a longform Commercial for the Liquor brand, with versions of “Str8 Vybz Rum” being consumed by not only the Deejay, but fellow Entertainers, and partygoers. The “Gaza Boss” kicked off 2025 with his much talked about “Freedom Street” Concert, and is gearing up for even more in the coming weeks. Drink up to this one, and drink responsibly.

Dancehall music continues to find itself in many other places where it hasn’t been before over the years. Following the footsteps of artists like Koffee, Sean Paul, Govana, Buju Banton, Konshens, Kabaka Pyramid, and DeeWunn, Popcaan is the latest artist to appear on a video game soundtrack.

This year, Popcaan gets an entry on 2K Sport’s “NBA 2K21 – 2k Beats” soundtrack with the track, “Promise“. Featured on Popcaan’s OVO Sound debut mixtape, “Vanquish“, the TJ Records produced banger should bring plenty vibes to accompany the gameplay. The soundtrack currently features over 150 artists with plans for expansion next year. This is not the first time he has appeared on a NBA 2K soundtrack as his “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)” collaboration with Jamie XX and Young Thug was featured on the NBA 2K17 soundtrack, and even on EA Sports’ NBA Live 16 soundtrack.

Just a few days after the release of Fever, the first single from Vybz Kartel’s “King of the Dancehall” album, the accompanying video has already amassed over 300 thousand views on YouTube. The video was directed by Jay Will/ Game Over who creatively conceptualized the masterpiece.

The video is a raunchy, sexy one that brings the words of the song to life. The lead girl in the video suffers from uncontrollable heat in her dreams, bringing on a “fever”; when she awakes she is feverish and covered in sweat. No doubt the video will continue to grow in popularity, as comments are pouring in by the minute.The song Fever comes as an instant gratification when someone purchases “King of the Dancehall”, which was made available for pre-order May 6th exclusively on iTunes.

Distributed by Zojak World Wide, the album will be available exclusively to Apple Music subscribers on June 3rd, the same day  the third instant gratification track, ‘Colouring This Life’, will be offered in the iTunes store. Apple Music will offer exclusive streaming one week before the album is available for download on June 10th , a service usually reserved for major label artists.

“King of the Dancehall” contains never before released tracks from Vybz Kartel, all recorded by the prolific artiste before his incarceration.  The album is a collaborative effort between Adidjahiem Records/TJ Records. Over the years Vybz Kartel has created a strong following with his creative and ingenious lyrics and he shows no signs of slowing down now.

“King of the Dancehall” is the latest project to be released by Dancehall titan, Vybz Kartel. The project is a collaborative effort between Adidjahiem Records and TJ Records in association with Zojak World Wide. This is great news for the “World Boss” supporters, as the album becomes available for pre-order May 6th exclusively on iTunes. Fans can order the full album and receive the first single, “Fever”, as instant gratification. Also on May 6th the “Fever” music video, directed by Game Over/Jay Will, launches via YouTube and Vevo. On May 20th the “Western Union” track will be available for instant gratification.

The album will be available exclusively to Apple Music subscribers on June 3rd, the same day the third instant gratification track, “Colouring This Life”, will be offered in the iTunes store. Apple Music will offer exclusive streaming one week before the album is available for download on June 10th , a service usually reserved for major label artists and a great honour for a Jamaican artist. iTunes will be supporting the album through special marketing and promotions in a manner they don’t typically do for Reggae/Dancehall.

The tracks have been carefully completed by renowned Producer Linton “TJ” White of TJ Records, with whom Kartel has established a solid working relationship over the years. Kartel says, “We’re imploring the fans to go out and support the album, not just for Vybz Kartel’s sake, but for the sake of DANCEHALL. Let’s show the world we can still pull some big numbers in our genre too”.
