Get Ready For “Kingston Pirates Week” This October

Jamaica is known for hosting a number of events that highlight the Island’s various cultures. This year, there will be a shift, and it comes in the form of “Kingston Pirates Week“, and this is something you will want to be a part of.

Yesterday (July 8), the prestigious Pegasus Hotel in Kingston held the Press Launch of “Kingston Pirates Week” and announced the return of the “Kingston City Run“. Founded by Event Planners/Managers Peter Shoucair JP and Jo-Anne Paxton, “Kingston Pirates Week” aims to highlight the Pirate culture that once ruled, and provide another lane for Tourism. The event series will be based in Port Royal, once known as the Pirate capital of the world, and one of the most prosperous cities in the world, will host a number of activities including Beach cleanups, street dances, and a number of excursions. The event also announced the return of the “Kingston City Run”. The annual marathon event was postponed for a number of years due to Covid-19, and aims to make a grand return during “Kingston Pirates Week”. At the Press Launch, a number of dignitaries made presentations including Christopher Jarrett, JHTA President, Mishika Silvera, Destination Manager at TPDCo, Professor Gordon Shirley, Port Authority of Jamaica’s CEO, and Senator Hon. Delano Seiveright, Minister of State, Tourism. The event also highlighted a number of sponsors including CastleBlack Spirits, Excelsior, Holiday Snacks, the Jamaican Tourist Board, Sparkles Productions, Tourism Enhancement Fund, and Nupack. For those who want to be a part of the eventful week, more information is available now on KingstonPiratesWeek.com.

Ayetian Enjoys Life As A “Raftsman” In New Video

The Jamaican Raftsmen found themselves in some controversy earlier this year, thanks to a few visitors. With talks about them offering “services” outside of their usual job, debates have been popping up about unethical practices, people just being adventurous, and people doing whatever it takes to advance in life. Dancehall Artist Ayetian gave it some thought despite the controversies, and has joined the Rafting workforce. He gives us a visual of that in “Raftsman“.

Directed by Brownland Pictures, Ayetian finds himself with the ladies in “Raftsman”. What may seem like a regular working day turned out to be an opportunity for the Deejay to get closer to a few of his clients. He is all over the place in the clip causing mischief, and he is definitely having fun with the tourists, giving the visual to a track that has been gaining attention on Social Media over the past few weeks. “Raftsman” was produced by Nats for Trap Mill Ent. Ayetian has been steadily making his name and music connect with people locally and internationally, and we look forward to him making more progress in his career. Tourism just got another boost.

.@ChrisMalachi Shows Another Side Of Paradise On “Everything Cool”

Remember seeing those travel commercials inviting you to come to the Caribbean? How about those about coming to Jamaica? Yes the Island is a home away from home, and is indeed a paradise, but have you ever taken a look into how the residents are living outside the Hotels and Resorts that you’re used to? Well, Recording Artist Chris Malachi wants to give you a first hand look into life inside  “Paradise” on “Everything Cool“!

Produced by Koastal Kings, Chris Malachi’s “Everything Cool” is far from all that “Tropical” vibes foreigners speak of. You are in for a surprise if you thought this was a party song. While Tourists can get fat and lazy on the white sand beaches with a few Red Stripes in the cooler, Chris sheds a light on what Jamaicans are going through daily. Chris’ delivery is great as always on “Everything Cool”, and this is an important song that puts the island and the leaders under a microscope. From rising crime, to classism, to the Government failing the people, to a bad economy, the single and video will wake up many, and a change needs to happen.

Accompanying the single is a music video directed by Chris and Maya Wilkinson that was so beautifully presented, that even the Jamaica Tourist Board would blush. The video isn’t without a great cast which include Shernette Higgins, Koastal KingsBernard Hasenbichler, O’Neil Dacres, and the legendary Owen “Blakka” EllisChris Malachi cleverly promoted the single through a series of Tourism related content that was reminiscent of the “Kool Runnings” and “Come Back To Jamaica” eras, and he has a lot more in store in the coming days. Who is gonna fight for us?

NEW MUSIC: @ProdiVOP876 – Reggae Music And I

e83adab5e0cb34c699fcf4abcfefaa1a

Professing his love for Reggae music today is the one and only Prodi! Titled “Reggae Music And I” and produced by Yawd Movement, we hear Prodi singing about reuniting with Reggae and describes how it has affected his life. He also personifies Reggae and speaks on it being a worldwide influence. Great single here as it gives the feel of it being a new Reggae anthem. This would be great for commercials and even the Jamaican Tourism sector (I called it first!). Prodi’s “Voice Of The People” EP is now available on iTunes! Get into the groove by checking out the music below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
