The term “Dancehall in jail” is slowly becoming an actual thing with entertainers like Vybz Kartel and Busy Signal seeing jail time, many fear that Dancehall music will not see better days. As an entertainer who has seen great success for many years, Deejay Mad Cobra had a chat with Winford Williams on a few things. Here he spoke about returning to the U.S., being a victim of gun violence in 2010 and losing his visa, thoughts on Vybz Kartel’s imprisonment, walking away from violence, getting the big break with “Flex” and being signed to Columbia Records in the 90s, being absent from the spotlight for a while, studying Shabba Ranks performances, Sting and much more. Great interview here and a history lesson too, Cobra has always been a respected artist and veteran of his craft and he’s still churning out hits. Twin of Twins however expressed that Kartel was used as a scapegoat and they went on Onstage to further expound on that and more. Here they spoke about violence in Jamaica, the justice system, encouraging the media to promote positive things and stop bashing Dancehall music, and their new project which includes an extension of their “Stir It Up” series. Not a bad interview here, the twins have always spoken out against many things that happen in society whether in interviews or through their mixtape, and encouraging upliftment of the people. After teasing fans with the behind the scenes and trailer videos, I Octane and KyMani Marley have finally released “A Yah Wi Deh“. Directed by Bling Blang (Sasha Bling) and shot in Tower Hill, we hear the artists dropping lyrics about the struggles and being on the battlefield while we see scenes of people doing what they can to survive in the ghetto. We also see scenes of the artists performing for the people and also partying with them in the end. A great effort here, Bling Blang did a good job as it’s very clean and this marks as another hit on her list. I Octane’s “My Journey” is in stores now.
