Rising Montego Bay-based Recording Artist Rosh Reign has used her voice to bring joy to many, and uplift the world. This time around, she uses her gift to empower in the new single, “Shackles”.

Produced by Yo Christon and released through City Rock Entertainment, Rosh Reign is on a mission to release the chains, break free from bondage and barriers of all kinds, and encourage others to take control of their freedom in “Shackles”. Rosh makes a statement with her powerful melodies over a solid production, and in a world where many are held captive by situations, vices, and people, she provides a strong voice for those who aspire for true freedom. Rosh continues to showcase a versatility and rawness that makes her a standout act and an in-demand performer, with many of her musical peers co-signing her. Along with the single release of “Shackles”, a music video directed by Ramon Lindsay Productions/Shot By Ramon will be released that will open the door for many important conversations, and become a beam of hope for those who are trapped in unfortunate situations.

“Reggae Month” may be coming to an end, but Reggae continues everyday. The year will continue to hear more music from Reggae Artists new and old, and the vibe will always be an uplifting one. The works of Production team Silly Walks Discotheque remain as powerful as ever, and this year will see the team deliver even more music. Recently, they recruited Miami-based Recording Artist Kaylan Arnold for the single, “Joy“, and earlier we get the official Music Video.

Directed by Mirko Polo and shot in Jamaica, Kaylan Arnold brings positive vibes in the visual for her Silly Walks Disco-produced, “Joy”. Shot in a number of locations, Kaylan is spreading the love everywhere she goes, producing smiles, laughter, and a lot more. “Joy” is one of the latest releases off of Silly Walks’ “Sandy Park Riddim“, and has been picking up steam throughout “Reggae Month”. A couple weeks ago, Dancehall Artist Kacique shared his new single, “Light“. Since then, it was been gaining traction online, with many relating to the lyrics and the Deejay’s “No New Friends” policy. He recently followed up with the Music Video for the single.

Directed by OneSpinn, Kacique further emphasizes his points in the video for “Light”. The video’s dark presentation reflects on how the world can be a dark place, the Deejay finds his light, and continues his journey throughout. As previously mentioned, “Light” has found favour with many listeners since its release, and there may be a possibility that it will be a part of new project from the Deejay. Dancehall Artist Ayetian has been enjoying quite the buzz in recent months thanks to his music releases. Known for bringing a different kind of energy in his music, he has been getting co-signs from the likes of Tommy Lee Sparta, and Trinidad’s own Machel Montano. Speaking of Machel, he recently collaborated with the rising Deejay on the track, “Truth & Balance“. With that song bubbling locally and Internationally, they gave it even more power with a new remix.

Produced by DJ Mac/BlacksTheMan/Machel Montano/1stKlase, Ayetian and Machel called up US Singer/Songwriter Ne-Yo to give the “Truth & Balance (Remix)” some added flavour for the ladies. Ne-Yo is no stranger to being featured on a Dancehall track, nor is he one to a Jamaican stage, and his contribution to the track opens even more doors for domination on the  International market. Ayetian and Machel both deliver on the original, and we can expect a Music Video for the remix to be a banger. Ayetian rising stardom will get an upgrade in the coming months, and with Summer on the horizon, that shouldn’t be farfetched. Ladies it’s time to bruk out again.

Sevanteen Urges Us To “Always Remember” Where We’re Coming From

In life, it’s always important to know where you’re coming from in order to know where you’re going. In a time when memories are easily forgotten, it takes people like Dancehall Artist Sevanteen to encourage us to preserve them. He’s delivers a message in the new single, “Always Remember“.

Produced by BygDawg Sevan Records/Bussweh/Inteligntz Musiq, Sevanteen is emphasizing the importance of knowing your history, and remembering your upbringing in “Always Remember”. The Deejay reflects on the days where his family had struggles and what was done to make ends meet, but he also remembers those who helped him along the way. Inserting the Jamaican Proverb, “Nuh dash weh yuh stick before you dun cross riva“, Sevanteen urges those who have acquired success and better living to remember the days when there was nothing, and be more humble and kind to others in life. There are some who have “Amnesia” to their people when the money and fame come their way, but if those things were taken away tomorrow, those same people they’ve turned their backs on will be the ones they face in the end. The single is accompanied by a Music Video directed by Bussweh Visuals, and was shot in Sevanteen’s community of Lyssons in St. Thomas. A solid release from the Deejay. Memba good nuh Man.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Garifuna Kids – Baila Baila (1993)

Closing off “Black History Month” on “Oldies Sunday“, we wanted to not only give you a past hit, but introduce to an audience something they haven’t heard before. While Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Reggaeton etc. are signature sounds from the Caribbean/Latin America, we wanted to share some Garifuna Music. The Afro-Indigenous people of Central America and Saint Vincent and The Grenadines introduced it with sounds originating from West Africa, then spread it to countries like Belize and Honduras, and was given the Proclamation of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity title by UNSECO in 2001. Today, we highlight Belizean group the Garifuna Kids, and their track, “Baila Baila“.

Released through Rochez Brothers Entertainment in 1993, the Garifuna Kids brought great vibes and high energy with “Baila Baila”. The track drew inspiration from Punta Rock (a sub-genre of Garifuna Music), while the production was a mix of traditional Instruments, callbacks, and melodies that had everyone truly dancing. The track quickly caught on shortly after its release, and was featured on the group’s 1993 album of the same name. The country of Belize was home to many Garifuna musicians, and Garifuna Music was one of the sounds that empowered the people. The Garifuna Kids are still an active group, and continue to perform in Belize and other parts of the world, keeping the culture alive in the process. “Baila Baila” remains one of the group’s most memorable songs, and has been getting some recognition over the years on Social Media.
