The Harry J Allstars’ “Liquidator” Featured In New @TedLasso Episode


It has been said over and over that good music will always prevail. When it comes to Jamaican music, the same can be said as it has managed to stick to many through the decades. Recently, the Apple TV+ hit series “Ted Lasso” returned with its 3rd season. The series focuses on Ted Lasso who is played by Jason Sudeikis, an American Football (NFL) Coach who takes his talents to the UK to manage a British Football (Soccer) team. The 2nd episode of the 3rd season kicked off on March 22, and a familiar sound was heard.

In the episode “(I Don’t Want To Go To) Chelsea” of “Ted Lasso”, The Harry J Allstars’Liquidator” was featured. The Instrumental was produced by Harry “Harry J” Johnson, and released through the Harry J label. “Liquidator” was sampled by Al Bell for The Staple Singers’ classic “I’ll Take You There, covered by numerous Artists, and was famously used as run out music for the Football Clubs Wolverhampton Wanderers, Northampton Town, Yeovil Town, West Bromwich Albion, and most famously, Chelsea, who claims to have 1st used it.

“Ted Lasso” is now available for streaming on Apple TV+.

Top selectors from the Caribbean including Jamaica’s Boom Boom, DJ Spade from Turks & Caicos, Trinidad’s DJ Echo, Rusty G from Bermuda, and TroopahLive From the Virgin Islands, Guyana’s PriinceMuzik, DJ Quest from Antigua, and Haiti’s Michael Brun have been recruited, and are gearing up to launch their respective Playlists featuring their handpicked Artists.

Recently, American Electronic Security company ADT Inc. launched their latest “No Worries” campaign. Aimed at providing the best security for Residential and Business consumers, they seek to take the #1 spot in that field. In their new series of Commercials, a familiar Reggae classic was heard.

Onboard as the soundtrack for ADT’s new “No Worries” campaign is Bob Marley’sThree Little Birds“. Produced by Bob Marley And The Wailers and released in 1980, the track was featured on classic “Exodus” album, and still remains a favourite for many worldwide. It was previously covered by Maroon 5 for a Hyundai campaign, it was the theme for Dutch Football Club Ajax’s 2021/2022 third kit, used as inspiration for Bob’s daughter Cedella Marley’sEvery Little Thing” children’s book, and was covered by Bob’s grandson Skip Marley for the “School Of Rock” Music Education program. ADT wants customers to know that complete safety is their aim, and there should be no worries. Everything’s gonna be alright.

Alton Ellis’ “Chatty, Chatty People” Featured In “Somebody I Used To Know” Film!


On February 10, the Romantic Comedy “Somebody I Used To Know” premiered on Amazon Prime Video. The Film stars Alison Brie and Jay Ellis as exes who crossed paths once again, and it tells of the person Alison’s character has become. A meeting with her ex’s fiancé brings confusion as Alison starts to reflect on the person she used to be. The Film’s soundtrack boasts a number of popular singles, but a familiar sound could be heard during one of the scenes.

Featured in the RomCom “Somebody I Used To Know” is Alton Ellis’Chatty, Chatty People“. The track was produced by Duke Reid and released in 1970, and it spoke about people whose life’s work is to spread rumours, and gossip. The song was featured on Ellis’ 1974 album, “Mr. Soul Of Jamaica“, and is one of the late Singer’s popular releases. Alton Ellis is celebrated as one of Jamaica’s greatest Vocalists, and his contributions to Jamaica music are well documented, and continue to inspire generations. Marcia Griffiths’ “Electric Slide” Featured In “How I Met Your Father” Season Premiere!


It’s always a good time when it comes to watching your favourite TV shows. No matter the taste, there’s something for everybody. Earlier, the Hulu series “How I Met Your Father” premiered its 2nd season. The spinoff of the popular “How I Met Your Mother” series has featured a few hit song on its soundtrack, but for the season premiere, it featured a global Reggae classic.

On the episode titled “Cool and Chill“, Marcia Griffiths’Electric Slide” was featured. Originally called “Electric Boogie” which was recorded and produced by the late Bunny Wailer in 1976, and released in 1980 and 1989, “Electric Slide” lived a few lives over the years. While it was a minor hit for Wailer in the late 70s and 80s, Marcia Griffiths’ 1983 version of the record was released and became a minor hit as well. It wasn’t until 1989 when a remixed version that was featured on Griffiths’ “Carousel” album quickly made it a dance staple around the world. The new version gave birth to the “Electric Slide” dance, which became the official dance for cookouts, family gatherings, Weddings, and various celebrations and events over the years.

The premiere episode of “How I Met Your Father” featured a Wedding conversation, and was suggested by a cast member to include it in a Playlist, to which it was met with rejection. “Electric Slide” was previously featured in the Marvel series “She-Hulk, and was sampled last year on Cardi B’s “Hot Sh**” featuring Kanye West and Lil Durk. “How I Met Your Father” is a weekly series featured on the Hulu streaming platform.

Jamaican Software Developer Turns Classic Card Game “Strip Me” Into New App!


Growing up in the Caribbean, playing outside was the order of the day. Before the advent of the Internet as we know it, ring games, sports, and many other activities would dominate a child’s life, and would be remembered fondly. With the increase of technology, many of our pastimes have been fading away from regular use, and online activities have taken over. While many would show their displeasure, Jamaican Software Developer Kenardo Smith takes utilizes the power of modern Tech to incorporate some of our favourite pastimes. On January 16, he launched his latest App called, “Two Of Cards”!

“Two Of Cards” is the latest Caribbean gaming App developed by Kenardo Smith through K.I.S.S. Games. The App follows up Smith’s “ABC Fast Or Slow”, which was released in January 2020, and was widely success as it gained thousands of downloads between the iOS and Android platforms, and received praises on Social Media, and on 13thStreetPromotions.com, and TheDigitalJamaica.com. “Two Of Cards” is the digital version of the “Strip Me” card game from Jamaica, or the “Suck The Well” card game from Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago, and requires two players alternatively playing various cards with one having the better card, and the other rewarding that player till either party’s hand is empty, deeming the rewarded the victor.

 “Two Of Cards” is a Freeminum App, which means it’s ad-supported, and offers in-app purchases that will enhance the user’s experience. The App is available on iOS, MacOS, and Android platforms, requiring users to have iOS 11.0 and up, MacOS 11.0 or later, or Android OS 5.0 or later installed on their respective devices. Kenardo Smith will be updating the game through a series of App updates in the future.
