Today’s a special day for Dancehall Artist Squash, it’s the celebration of life on Earth. Despite the negative news that have emerged in the past few months, we’re sure Squash is feeling blessed to see another birthday. For this day, he unleashed his new single, “Process“.

Produced by The Polo Store Entertainment/6ixReal Records, Squash steps out with a different energy on “Process”. He reflects on those who have wronged him, and is determined to make life better. Squash has had his share of betrayals and hard times, but he believes the pain will be no more soon, and he will be stronger than ever. Another release that will have the listener’s attention. For some of us, the summer fun is coming to a close. For others, it’s just the start of the fun. In meantime, we’re just having some of the best times ever. For UK-based Afro R&B Artist Princess Ade, she’s taking the party wherever she can. This time around, she takes it “Outside“.

The Independently-released “Outside” single is Princess Ade’s third official single. It’s all about having a good time with great people, and putting the fun over the stress. With Ade’s vocals over smooth production, listeners will be breaking out the dance moves, and keeping the music spinning over and over. Princess Ade made her official debut in 2022 with the single “Moving On“, and kicked off her 2023 with “Local” which was well received. She gained notoriety as a backup Vocalist for Afrobeats star Zlatan, and she looks to carve her lane, becoming a household name over time. Ready to party? Let’s go outside!

Brooklyn-based Recording Artist Alex Mali has been bringing together sounds that tapped into her Caribbean background along with Hip Hop, Pop, and other genres, putting together songs that connect with the people in a great way. We’ve featured her previously, and now she looks to make one of her biggest moves, and that’s releasing her debut album. Before that however, she gives us the new single, “Dance Now, Cry Later“.

Produced by The Breed, Alex Mali is stepping away from someone who didn’t do right by her, and would rather get lost in the music now than to wallow over it. She taps into some House Music vibes here, which comes at a good time as House Music influences have been making waves in recent months. “Dance Now, Cry Later” will be featured on Mali’s debut album, “Trust The Process“, and the project promises to showcase a lot of her influences and new sounds. OLDIES SUNDAY: Danny English Ft. Egg Nogg – Party Time (2002)

Closing off the month of July on Oldies Sunday, and we’re celebrating Summer! For today’s selection, we go back to a time before Social Media, when “Peanut” cellphones were the rage, and the Riddims became instant hits. We go back to the early 2000s with Danny English and Egg Nogg’s “Party Time“.

Produced by “Lenky” Marsden on the “Diwali Riddim” and released through the 40/40 Label in 2002, “Party Time” was about having a good time with good people. Danny English’s raspy delivery paired with Egg Nogg’s melodic flow paired well together, and over the classic instrumental, the song quickly became a hit locally and Internationally. The “Diwali Riddim” already had hits from other Artists, and this track was just icing on the cake.

Since the release of “Party Time”, Danny English and Egg Nogg continued to secure their presence in Dancehall with more music releases. Though they didn’t repeat the success of their hit, they remained active over the years. “Party Time” is a classic, and continues to cause a scene everywhere it’s played.

Produced by Castanheiro and Dubboy, Truvi taps into some AfroPop-influenced vibes here on “Ease” as she seeks a necessary outlet to take her mind and body away from all the madness. While we have all forms of relaxation, she ensures that she gets what she wants here, and her delivery over the production is sure to keep the listeners calm and collected. OLDIES SUNDAY: RDX – Bend Ova (2009)

When it comes to music during the Summertime in Jamaica, there was a certain type of music that would ensure the party was successful. There was the “Daggering” era that was filled with hits from some of your favourite Artists. This duo in particular had the era on lock with tune after tune, and they go by the names Delomar and Renigad a.k.a. RDX. Today’s Oldies Sunday selection from them is the single, “Bend Ova“.

Produced by Chad Simpson a.k.a. Dancehall Artist Mr. G on the “Wibble Wobble Riddim” and released through Young Blood label in 2009, RDX’s “Bend Ova” was a song that had one mission: to make the ladies DANCE! With the duo’s commanding lyrics, the intense energy throughout, and a Riddim that got things going, “Bend Ova” was made to cause a scene. The “Daggering” era was filled with sexual energy, and “Bend Ova” was one of the anthems as it instantly became one of the many hits for the Dancehall duo. The single was later released on various compilations, including the 2014 “Kotch EP“. “Bend Ova” also caught the attention of the Jamaica Broadcasting Commission who then banned the song, turning it into an even more popular song worldwide. Last year, it became a viral sensation on Social Media platform, TikTok that kicked off a challenge.

Since the release of “Bend Ova”, RDX went on to score more hits, and toured extensively. Unfortunately the duo parted ways in the late 2010s due to feuds, and as of last week, there’s no chance of them reuniting. RDX’s music is needed in the Dancehall scene that’s filled with “Choppa” songs, and many ladies have been unsuccessfully seeking alternatives to RDX. Let’s hope Delomar and Renigad really put things in the past, and get things going again.
