.@DiRealShaggy’s Classic “It Wasn’t Me” Goes Viral On TikTok With An AceMitchh Remix

This year, International Dancehall/Reggae Artist Shaggy celebrates 25 years of “It Wasn’t Me“. Released in November 2000 and featuring Ricardo “RikRok” Ducent, this track paved the way for a mega expansion of the Shaggy brand, scoring platinum plaques, and placing him in significant parts of Pop Culture for years to come. While the track has gained love in a variety of ways over the years, it acquired a little viral love on TikTok recently thanks to a Producer named AceMitchh. His “HoodTrapRMX” of the song would pick up steam on the platform, kicking off a new challenge.

Released in April, AceMitchh’s “HoodTrapRMX” of Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me” found users on the platform sharing dance videos, GRWM (Get Ready With Me) videos, Sports clips, and random entries featuring the remixed track. The original video that premiered the remix garnered over a Million views, while there over 3,500 views released with the track being the soundtrack, scoring Millions of views. The original “It Wasn’t Me” has enjoyed viral success on Social Media, but this remix may get some extra love going into the Summer. TikTok users can start creating content with the sound starting here. Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me” is still available on all streaming platforms.

Here’s a quick History lesson for you during Haitian Heritage Month. During the Haitian Revolution on May 18, 1804, the flag of Haiti was created. 198 years later, the day is recognized as “Haitian Flag Day“, which became a public holiday. For today’s Oldies Sunday selection, we go back 37 years, or 185 years after the flag’s creation, to check out Haitian Icon Bigga Haitian’s track, “Haiti A Weh Mi From“.

Produced by Winston Jones and released through Flames Records in 1989, Bigga Haitian celebrates his Country, and is proud to be from there in, “Haiti A Weh Mi From”. Inspired by Dancehall Icon Admiral Bailey, Bigga made his debut as a Dancehall Artist with his patriotic single. Borrowing elements from some of the popular Dancehall tunes at the time, the Deejay shares a few things about himself, how he moves in the streets, paying tribute to his home and Jamaica, and showing his skillset as a Dancehall Artist. The single became his breakout hit, making him the first Haitian Artist to find success in the Jamaican music scene. The single did well in Haiti, topping the charts there, and becoming a staple to this day. “Haiti A Weh Mi From” was featured on his 1997 debut Album, “I Am Back” in a remixed form, but the original was featured on his 2009 Album, “Sak Pasé“.

Since the release of “Haiti A Weh Mi From”, Bigga Haitian went on to become one of the country’s most important musical exports as he broke down barriers, inspiring Artists like Wyclef Jean to follow in his footsteps. He is still active in music, creating music that highlights what’s going on in Haiti, and promoting positivity. “Haiti A Weh Mi From” still gets heavy rotation in parts of the world. Dancehall Artist Jquan is one of those who found continued success in the music, and shares some motivational words in, “Favoured“.

Produced by Justus for JA Productions and featuring Dancehall Artist Skillibeng, Jquan speaks on his blessings and more on, “Favoured”. The Artists give thanks for the success that they have experienced, and ensure that they don’t lose their way by the hands of those who don’t mean them well. Today’s selection comes from Dancehall/Reggae Artist I-Octane with the track, “Mama You Alone“.

Produced by Phillip “Junior Arrow” Linton and Nigel Staff for Arrows Records on the “Karma Riddim” and released in 2009, I-Octane makes a dedication to his Mom, and all the Mothers of the world in, “Mama You Alone”. The Deejay reflects on the times his Mother was there for him, and he gives thanks for the way she raised him, and urges listeners to appreciate their Mother not just on Mother’s Day, but everyday. “Mama You Alone” quickly became a hit for the Deejay, and earned heavy rotation for years to come especially on Mother’s Day. The single was also featured on his 2011 EP and 2014 album, “My Life“.

Najeeriii Finds “Luv@2AM” On Surprise Project WIth @DethWrld

Dancehall Artist Najeeriii is building up for a big Summer in his career. The past few weeks found him premiering new music, and is getting back to a consistency that many know him for. He even released a mixtape earlier this year, with the announcement of his debut album made known along with it. While no details of that album are present, he dropped a surprise EP in the meantime called, “LUV@2AM“.

Done in collaboration with DethWrld Records, Najeeriii aims for the ladies with the surprise 6 track EP, “LUV@2AM”. He delivers some of his raunchiest songs on this project, and despite the time stated in the title, that love can be acquired at any time this project is set on “Play“. The tone is set with the EP’s opener “BEST B****” as it features a lil sexual aggression, but still leaves space for complimenting a Woman who knows how to make the sexual experience a unique one. The theme continues on “SHE LUV E” as it highlights a Woman who knows who she wants, and she’ll make it a moment to remember. The title track that follows breaks the tensions, and the production takes the listener into scene where things are about to get raunchier. “NEED YUH” is self-explanatory, and Najeeriii is not going about it in an unethical way to get his needs met. The EP’s closers “NAUGHTY” and “TRIP” cool things down, but will have listeners wanting another round, and for that another EP would have to follow up.

“LUV@2AM” features hypnotizing production by DethWrld, Franc White, and Mcvertt. It may get a little chilly at 2 AM, but something hot and heavy will be going down with Najeeriii’s new EP is in rotation.

On April 11, the world lost another legend. The news of Reggae Icon Max Romeo’s passing was definitely a shock to many, and tributes were quickly made public. Since the 1960s, Romeo defined an era where he delivered songs that stood out from the pack, with lyrics that have inspired generations of Artists, and caused bans and censorships. He became a dominant force, and he never backed down from whatever or whoever stood in the way. He is a legend, will be missed by many, and his legacy will be carried on by his children, and those who have joined his movement. We pay tribute to him with our latest Playlist, “Sampling Max Romeo“.

Featuring a few tracks, we showcase not only some of Max Romeo’s works, but Artists in Hip Hop, Pop, EDM, and Reggae who have sampled his music on the “Sampling Max Romeo” Playlist. Many of us know Jay Z’s “Lucifer” that sampled “Chase The Devil“, but we’re using this time to highlight even more. Hopefully there will be more who will sample his work in the future, just make sure the business is handled well with his family. Salute to the late Max Romeo. Max Romeo 4Eva!
