Tonight (August 29) is setting up to be another historic night for Dancehall Music. Tonight, Vybz Kartel returns to the Barclays Center in New York for another staging of “Reggaefest“. The Deejay sold out the center twice before, and many are looking forward to him dominating the stage this weekend with his peers. Ahead of the event, he decided to surprise us with the release of the new project, “Heart & Soul“.

Featuring 11 tracks, Vybz Kartel celebrates Dancehall, and over a year of freedom with the new album, “Heart & Soul”. Kartel gives the ladies something to enjoy here with something to remind you of his status and what he has been through, and more importantly, a new collection of music for the fans. Production on “Heart & Soul” was dealt through Greedy Lion and Vybz Kartel Muzik, while Ishawna is the sole feature here. The “World Boss” continues to make headlines and history, make sure to play this before you catch him live.

Jamaica is home to many lyricists and firestarters, and the tradition continues with every generation of Artists. Dancehall Artist Versi has been one of the genre’s hard-hitting voices, with a respectable catalogue. Today, he shows that he’s “Portland’s Very Own” with his debut album.

Featuring 16 tracks, Versi extends his catalogue with something that will be celebrated for years to come in the “Portland’s Very Own” album. Versi covers a few bases with the new project, tackling topics that reflect on his daily life, the experiences of himself and others, and still provides some needed energy for the listener. Production on “P.O.V.” includes the likes of Gasha Blacks Productions, Just Easy Productions, DJ Trilla, YGR, I Chad Records, Din Din/Hemton Music, and Cawvinz Entertainment, while he shares collaborations with Valiant, Mwata Modola, Chronic Law, Rygin King, Yonique Murdock, Ginjah, and Louie Culture. Nile SNL is back on the scene to stir things up. Earlier this year he released a project, and was following up with a few singles. The Summer may be nearing its end, but he’s keeping the temperatures blazing with the new single, “Add E Up“.

Produced by Mahfia Made It and Catalog Music Group, Nile SNL is on the hunt for beautiful Women, and he’s about to have a lot of fun with them. She can be the “won’t hurt a fly” type, but she’ll become a vixen after she experiences Nile. He’s adding to his collection, and he’ll seduce his way to their hearts. Nile continues to keep the people paying attention since going viral with a number of singles, and if he keeps the momentum going, we might get a follow up project from him before the year is over. Canadian R&B Recording Artist RAAHiiM is gearing up to bring big vibes to the music scene. With Summer nearing its closing, he wanted to give listeners something extra to enjoy. Recently, he stepped out with a new single for the ladies called, “WiiCKEDEST“.

Produced by Supa Dups and Jordon Manswell and features Recording Artist BEAM, RAAHiiM is on the hunt for the gal wid di wickedest slam in, “WiiCKEDEST”. The track taps into Dancehall and Afrobeats sounds and vibes here, showing love to the Artists’ and Producers’ Caribbean backgrounds. “WiiCKEDEST” pays tribute to this Beenie Man classic, and also pays tribute to RAAHiiM’s Father, who was a DJ in Canada who competed in Sound Clashes. Overall, this song is for that Woman who has all eyes on her, and knows she’s top tier. Expect this track to make its rounds, and creep up on a few Playlists.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Tony Matterhorn – Dutty Wine (2006)

Summer is still active, and before August is over, we wanted to highlight one more Summer hit on “Oldies Sunday“. Today, we go back in time to check out Selector/Recording Artist Tony Matterhorn’s “Dutty Wine“.

Produced by SupaHype on the “Smash Riddim” and released through Smash Hyperactive Entertainment in 2006, Tony Matterhorn’s “Dutty Wine” was for the Women who had attitude, and the ability to take on the dance floor. The “Dutty Wine” dance, which required dancers to perform a rotating movement of the neck, adding various movements with it, was said to have originated around 2003 by then popular Dancer Mad Michelle and Dance Group The Attitude Girls, and given its rising popularity, it was immortalized through song. The song quickly became a hit for Matterhorn as his deejaying would place him on the forefront at the time, and the dance would grow to become a controversial one as Doctors publicly warned about its health risks. “Dutty Wine” would go on to gain International recognition, inspiring many, including Pop star Beyonce, to perform variations of the dance in music videos, and stage performances. It was also referenced by Rapper Nicki Minaj in her verse on Kanye West’s “Monster” single. On August 15, 2025, “Dutty Wine” was certified “Silver” in the UK, selling over 200,000 copies. The song would become Tony Matterhorn’s biggest hit.

Since the release of “Dutty Wine”, Tony Matterhorn would go on to release a number of singles over the years. His DJing career continued to thrive as that was his lane before becoming a Recording Artist, and would not only entertain crowds to this day with his mixes and selections, but battle fellow DJs for titles in “World Clash” competitions. “Dutty Wine” is still a party starter, and a classic.

Since the 2010s, Recording Artist Keznamdi has been blazing trails with his sound, and building a movement that continues to strengthen. With a number of projects under his belt, he has been taking on the world, and connecting with the people with uplifting message music. After many demands, he finally releases the new album, “BLXXD & FYAH“.

Featuring 13 tracks, Keznamdi brings out some of his best work to date with the release of, “BLXXD & FYAH”. Kez gives the world more powerful music, shares his observations, and calls for the right order to be restored in the world. The project aims to connect with people who need positive messages, and need something different than what’s out there currently. Off Grid handles the lion’s share of production on “BLXXD & FYAH”, while Major Seven and Fortune join in with their sounds. Collaborations are not new here, and Kez shares his stage with Masicka, Mavado, Kelissa, and Marlon Asher. 2025 has welcomed plenty projects from our Caribbean Artists, and “BLXXD & FYAH” may just be a part of the top end of the year lists.
