XKappe Doesn’t Dance Much, But Will “Gangster Rock”

Mandeville-based Dancehall Artist XKappe has been steadily building his name over the past few months. The Deejay stayed busy releasing music, and performing in various parts of the Island. He aims to stay consistent, and he kicks things off with the new single, “Gangster Rock“.

Produced by Steel Chest for Outta Space Records, XKappe is not trying to be the newest member of the Ravers Clavers, but he keeps things moving in “Gangster Rock”. It’s all about the fast life, and Xkappe is ensuring things are in order here. He’s not doing the latest dance moves, but you can dance to his new track. The Deejay aims to take on bigger platforms this year, and he’s finalizing a number of releases with the likes of Steel Chest, and they’ll be out in short order. R.I.P. Mr. Wacky.

2025 started off roughly for some people, but there is hope. Some days may be dark, but we look forward to sunshine. Reggae Artist/Actor Hector “Roots” Lewis is starting the year off right with the new single, “Celebration“.

Co-Produced with Johnny Cosmic, Hector “Roots” Lewis brings good vibrations, love, and happiness inna Rub-A-Dub style on, “Celebration”. Over retro-styled Reggae production, Hector is all about a good time, unity, and spreading the love everywhere. This is not the time for the weapons, let every Man grab a Woman, every Woman grab a Man, and just vibe out to the new selection. In 2024, Hector “Roots” Lewis not only released music, but made appearances on screens around the world as he played the role of the late Carlton “Carly” Barrett, former Drummer for Bob Marley & The Wailers, in the “Bob Marley: One Love” Biopic. Expect Lewis to take on more stages around the world this year, release more music, and bring the love to even more people.

OLDIES SUNDAY: Danny English – Wah Dis God (1999)

Last week, we received some sad news. The Dancehall Fraternity lost another member, Danny English. The Deejay lost his fight with Diabetes, and members of the public are currently in mourning. The Deejay was being active on the scene in the past couple years through live performances, and was planning to release a number of singles this year as a part of his comeback. Today, we pay tribute to the late Deejay with a selection on “Oldies Sunday“. Tune in to, “Wah Dis God“.

Produced by Steven Ventura on the “Latino Riddim“, released through the Mphatic! Label in 1999, and featuring Dancehall Artist Egg Nogg, Danny English shares some observations as people have been plotting and scheming on him as he found some success in “Wah Dis God”. He shares that since life has been looking better for him, people have been planning to rob him and cause harm to his family, but he is prepared for them, and they will meet their end in any way possible. “Wah Dis God” had some minor success for the Deejay, and was one of the tracks that built his momentum leading up to his biggest single to date, 2002’s “Party Time“. Armed with a gritty voice and sometimes tapping into a British accent, Danny English was one of the acts to know in the late 1990s/early 2000s.

Since the release of “Wah Dis God”, Danny English went on to release more singles, and perform in various parts of the world. He disappeared out of the spotlight for a number of years due to various reasons, but made appearances in recent times with live performances and new singles, and was gaining traction. On Friday January 24, it was reported that the Deejay lost his battle with Diabetes, and since then, there have been a number of tributes. May Danny English’s legacy be carried on by those who genuinely loved him, and may he sleep in peace.

In 2023, Dancehall Artist Najeeriii earned his spot as one of the year’s best Dancehall Rookies. Having scored a number of popular singles, 2024 was looking to be an even bigger year for him. Hits came early that year, but got a small setback when his Youtube Channel was reportedly hacked in the late Summer, and his content was made private. When things got fixed, he ended the year with a number of singles including “1Rifle“. Ready to dominate again, he’s finalizing his debut album, “Book Of Bob“. Before that, he unleashes his “1Rifle Cliptape“.

Featuring 23 tracks that’s mixed by Travis Chromatic a.k.a. TravDaawg and 9 extra tracks that won’t be found on Streaming Platforms (yet!), Najeeriii gives the fans something special before the new album with the “1Rifle Cliptape”. The project features new music, remixes of previous releases, and he even hops on a few Hip Hop beats. Pantason, DethWrld, Catalog Music Group, YC Studios, and Franc White are just some of the names who produced on this project, while Rajahwild, KMan, Chronic Law, and Moovements join in on a number of songs. The 2020s saw the rise of the 2nd generation of Trap Dancehall. Whether you say “Trap” or “Chop“, these Artists put the spotlight on the lifestyle, delivered a new sound that quickly built a movement, and gained recognition in various parts of the world. Ymo G is one of those Artists, and he has been consistent with his music from the beginning, with a fanbase that continues to grow. He takes the music to the next level with the release of his debut EP, “Vengeance“.

Featuring 6 tracks and released through Zombih Ent., Ymo G joins the growing list of Trap Dancehall Artists to give the people a packaged form of their music with the “Vengeance EP”. The subject matter doesn’t stray from the Women, the vices, the money, and the fast life, but Ymo G does his part in further building the “Trap/Chop Dancehall” catalogue for the world to consume. His sound doesn’t hide in this project, and YoDelliDem and Trxpskull Records provide some dark production for this soundtrack. He also shares his stage with Meelo and SVM, who also shed light on the Trap lifestyle. “Vengeance” makes way for more releases from the Artist, and we know he’s busy working on them for later distribution. It’s a new year, but we’re still dealing with familiar issues. We all love having good people in our corner, but time shows that many will step out and do you wrong. They may come as a surprise sometimes, but for someone who is alert, it was only a matter of time before the moments happened. Dancehall Artist Kranium deals with this and more in, “Cut The Link“.

Featuring Dancehall Artist Masicka and produced by TJ Records, Kranium deals with fake people in “Cut The Link”. It’s never good when someone who you’ve confided in and trusted betrays you, and while some of us may have a forgiving heart, there are people in the world who are only good for an image, but have dirty minds, hearts, and intentions. All you can do is cut them off. Kranium and Masicka share their experiences, and offer words of advice and encouragement to the listener who is going through similar situations. The world is crazy, and houses crazier people, just be on your guard.
