It’s always a good day when an Artist can secure a placement. Jamaica’s own DeeWunn, who has been enjoying a few high profile placements over the years, recently added a new one to his list, and it comes from one of the biggest names in the world.

Recently, Deewunn’s “Back It Up, Drop It” single from 2019 was used as the soundtrack from McDonald’s France’s upcoming “Music Tour” campaign. The video was used in the campaign’s Commercial, and it features animation work from Paris-based Eddy Film production company, and done in collaboration with French-based Temple Caché Creative Studio. “Back It Up, Drop It” was produced by Leo Justi, became a hit for Deewunn, and was previously used in campaigns and Commercials for Samsung, Electronic Arts (NFS Heat), and others. Congrats to Deewunn, and we look forward to more Artists making their music show up in various forms of Media.

Doreen & Jackie’s “Welcome You Back Home” Featured In New @IkeaUSA Campaign


Jamaican music has so much power, it’s unreal sometimes. Just when you think it can’t pop up in something major, it comes as a surprise. Recently, Sweden-founded Furniture Retail giant IKEA launched their latest campaign in time for the holiday shopping season. Under the phrase “It’s All In The Bag“, IKEA highlights all the goodies that you can get in their stores for the home, it’s like making that dream house possible with everything from there. Throughout one of their latest Commercials, a familiar sound from the 876 can be heard.

Featured in IKEA’s “It’s All In The Bag” campaign is Doreen & Jackie’s hit single, “Welcome You Back Home“. Produced by “Sir Coxsone” Dodd with Instrumentation by the legendary band The Skatalites and released through Studio One in 1964, “Welcome You Back Home” was a duet with Doreen Shaffer and the late Jackie Opel about a couple who had falling outs and realizing that they need each other more than ever. Shaffer is known as the Queen of Ska, is a founding member and last surviving member of The Skatalites. Jackie Opel was a Bajan Recording Artist who was discovered by the late Byron Lee, credited for inventing Spouge Music (a fusion of Ska, Calypso, and R&B), and was known as the “Jackie Wilson of Bajan culture“. The Instrumental for “Welcome You Back Home” was played throughout the new IKEA Commercial. Just like the Furniture giant, Jamaican music has it all in the bag.

Dancehall Artist 450 knew early on that when opportunity comes, he takes full advantage. Recently, Worthy Park Estate, the company behind the popular Rum-Bar brand and Rum-Bar Rum, secured 450 in a multimillion-dollar endorsement deal. The brand has been busy recruiting some big names over time, and the high profile Artist was the right pick for their latest acquisition. Possessing the charisma, personality, and looks along with a heavy presence on the scene, Rum-Bar believed in 450’s marketability, and they look forward to making him a part of many projects in the coming months. He was introduced along with fellow Dancehall Artist/Ambassador Vanessa Bling in the just-released “Vibes Of Jamaica” campaign, and the feedback so far has been positive. 450 is gearing up to release more music in the coming weeks, and will be performing at a stage near you. Recently, American Electronic Security company ADT Inc. launched their latest “No Worries” campaign. Aimed at providing the best security for Residential and Business consumers, they seek to take the #1 spot in that field. In their new series of Commercials, a familiar Reggae classic was heard.

Onboard as the soundtrack for ADT’s new “No Worries” campaign is Bob Marley’sThree Little Birds“. Produced by Bob Marley And The Wailers and released in 1980, the track was featured on classic “Exodus” album, and still remains a favourite for many worldwide. It was previously covered by Maroon 5 for a Hyundai campaign, it was the theme for Dutch Football Club Ajax’s 2021/2022 third kit, used as inspiration for Bob’s daughter Cedella Marley’sEvery Little Thing” children’s book, and was covered by Bob’s grandson Skip Marley for the “School Of Rock” Music Education program. ADT wants customers to know that complete safety is their aim, and there should be no worries. Everything’s gonna be alright.

Recently, the company behind Social Media platform Facebook changed its name to Meta as a way to promote better online experiences, and change the way you see Social Media. While the platform has been a part of numerous controversies, only time will tell how things will turn out. As a part of Meta’s rollout, a series of promotional spots have been launched. For one of their latest Commercials, a sound from the home of Dancehall and Reggae has been easily identified.

In Meta’s latest Commercial called “The Tiger & The Buffalo“, the 1991 Electronic/Dance/Rave track “Way In My Brain” by Breakbeat Hardcore group SL2 was used for the soundtrack. Produced by Slipmatt & Lime and released through XL Recordings, the UK single sampled the Jamaican classic, “Under Mi Sleng Teng“. “Under Mi Sleng Teng” was done by Wayne Smith in 1984 (released in 1985), and produced by King Jammys on the “Sleng Teng Riddim“, which was considered one of the fully computerized Riddims. The “Sleng Teng Riddim” is also one of the most influential Riddims, giving birth to many versions, and producing many great Artists in the process.
