After closing “Dancehall Night” of Reggae Sumfest 2013, Reggae artist I Octane was requested to do the same task at the 2014 event. With news of this members of the music fraternity were not pleased and expressed how they felt about it. One of his detractors include Mr. Vegas. Tonight on Onstage I Octane had a quick chat with Winford Williams. Here he spoke about keeping current, his issue with Mr. Vegas, his thoughts on closing Reggae Sumfest, encouraging the older acts to give the youth a chance in the music business, what to expect with his Sumfest performance, his recent gigs overseas and the success from them, and wanting to inspire many. A good interview here, I Octane really handled himself well with last year’s Reggae Sumfest and despite Vegas’ remarks, he will do a good job at this year’s staging. Being a member of the fast rising artists which include Protoje, Chronixx and Jah 9, Jesse Royal has been making a name for himself with his blend of music. Now added to the upcoming Reggae Sumfest, he had a quick chat with Winford Williams to speak on that and more. Here he spoke about his start and describing it as “From creeping to walking“, getting great support for his music, being groomed in the Church, being a part of the “Reggae Revolution” and contributing to bring more consciousness to the genre, being a devout Rastafarian, Reggae Sumfest and future projects which include his “Royally Speaking” mixtape with Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire. Great interview here, I like how articulate he is and has handled his interview well. Looking forward to his upcoming project. One thing to know about today’s new mixtape, it wasn’t directed by Martin Scorsese but rather by Selector Supa Don! Titled “Don Father Mixtape” and hosted by DJ Supa Hype, this is over an hour of remixes, Dancehall hits and Hip Hop bangers with a mix of old school as well. Prepare to “bruck out“, get wild and rock away to 84 tracks provided by the Don Father. No one was harmed during the making of the mixtape. No need to ask favours on a wedding day, just download the mixtape below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
Dropping a new track today is Singer Keshan and she gives it to the guys straight. Titled “Tricks Are For Kids” and produced by So Unique Records, she gets at a guy who claimed he conned his way to have her and makes it known that If she wasn’t feeling him, he wouldn’t have mad it far with her. Sounds like a hit with the ladies here and it definitely goes at the guys who are quick to pick up the “Gallis” title. It was a mutual thing, why say you tricked her?
