If you haven’t heard the news, Hurricane Melissa is upon us. For those in Jamaica, Haiti/Dominican Republic, Cuba, and surrounding areas/Islands, we urge you to please be safe. While we try to secure our belongings and sanity, we play music. How about something from “Oldies Sunday“? Today, we go back to the 70s to check out Ray I’s “Weatherman Skank“.

Produced by Carlton Patterson on the “Weatherman Skank Riddim“, and released through the Black & White Label in 1977, Ray I brings us the forecast for today, and everyday in, “Weatherman Skank”. Over some energetic production, Ray I gets busy with the deejaying throughout, giving Weather updates, and handling the Riddim with ease. The “Weatherman Skank Riddim” was a popular Riddim back in the day, and Ray I’s single was not only popular, but was just one of many releases that took control of the scene with the Artists grasping your attention with their crowd-gathering lyrics and flow. The popularity of the single also earned him the nickname, “Weather Man“.

Since the release of “Weatherman Skank”, Ray I would release a number of singles and a couple albums over the years. He was active some time in the early 2020s, but not much has been heard about him since. “Weatherman Skank” is still played in parts of the world. Stay safe, stay dry.

On October 19, music lovers celebrated the 60th birthday of the late Jamaican Vocalist, Frankie Paul. Having made his transition in 2017, Paul was one of the go-to Singers in Dancehall and Reggae. Dubbed the “Jamaican Stevie Wonder” due to visual impairment, but a brilliant talent as a Singer, he became a star since his younger days, piling on hits, singles, and albums in his solid career. Today, we remember his exceptional talent, but also his knack for knocking out a Cover Song. Tune in to our new Playlist, “Cover Kings Vol. 3 – Frankie Paul“.

With the new “Cover Kings” Playlist, we highlight some of the many cover songs Frankie Paul released over the years. Elephant Man Aims For The Wedding Playlists With “Say She Never”

Picture the scenario: you found the love of your life, you want to spend the rest of your life with that, Marriage would be the next move, right? If you’re ready to take it to the Altar, you’re gonna need everything right from what to wear, to who will be attendance, to the location, to the music. Speaking of music, how about some Elephant Man to the list? Check out his latest release, “Say She Never“.

Produced by GateCitizens for Energy God Productions, Elephant Man scored a one-in-a-million lover in, “Say She Never”. Remixing a bit from Stephanie Mills’ 1980 hit single, “Never Knew Love Like This Before“, Ele gives some detail in the kind of loving that he’s experiencing from this Woman, and the energy that she’s receiving from him. You know Ele’s knack for remixing popular songs, and you’re going to rock with this one. With a Music Video directed by Rojhay Anderson, Elephant Man took on the role of a Pastor who would officiate the Wedding between popular TikTokers Rosealee and Akeem. The festivities don’t end there as we see everyone partying away at the Resort with appearances by a number of familiar faces including the legendary “Dyema” (Vybz Kartel fans know her well). A clip from the video would go viral over the past weekend, with many sharing congrats and well wishers, to others doubting the authenticity of the clip, to others either complaining about not being committed to, or not being a first choice for past lovers. Marriage is a beautiful thing for those who believe in it, and it may last a lifetime if you include Elephant Man in it to bless it.
