OLDIES SUNDAY: Powerman – Papa’s Love (2006)

Today is Father’s Day. Major respect to all the Men who have stepped up and ensured that their Children are loved, nurtured, and protected. For those who are no longer with us, may you continue sleep in peace. Today on “Oldies Sunday“, we share a dedication to all the Fathers out there. We tune in to Powerman’sPapa’s Love“.

Produced by Paul “Lowe” Chin on the “9-5 Riddim” and released through Lowe-Chin Productions/Chiney K Productions in 2006, Powerman makes a tribute to all the great Fathers out there in, “Papa’s Love”. He speaks on the hard working Men who take care of their Children, the Men who take the time out to raise their kids in the right way, and the Men who are devoted to good parenting. The Deejay believes there are good Fathers in the world, and they should be praised and respected. In a world where not much attention is given to Fathers, “Papa’s Love” was necessary. The track was also featured on Powerman’s 2012 album, “Ambition“. Father’s Day is at times met with opposition, and we should take the time to show love to the Men who want to be Fathers. Some Men never get a chance to be a Father due to various reasons, but play the role of Father figure when time calls for it. May “Papa’s Love” be a part of your Father’s Day Playlist, and Happy Father’s Day.

Big up All The Fathers Out there!

OLDIES SUNDAY: Roland Alphonso – Song For My Father (1967)

Today (June 16) is recognized worldwide as “Father’s Day“. We appreciate the Men who understood the role they’re given, and have done their best in that department. For today’s Oldies Sunday selection, we pay tribute to them with Musician Roland Alphonso’sSong For My Father“.

Produced by Leslie Kong along with Roland Alphonso and Beverley’s All Stars and released through Beverley’s Records in 1967, “Song For My Father” was Alphonso’s Ska version of the Horace Silver Quintet’s 1965 Jazz composition. The Jamaican version gives it a different kind of life, and opened it up for a different audience to appreciate. The original version according to Horace Silver was inspired by Brazilian music from a trip there, and Cape Verdean Portuguese Folk Music that his Father listened to. The Instrumental was a tribute to his Father and his love for the music, and the Jamaican version paid tribute to Jamaican Fathers. Alphonso’s version was one of many covers made, and was well-received by listeners over the years.

Whether you’re a Father, StepFather, Uncle, Grandfather, Godfather, Papa, Papi, Pop, Dada, big up yourself on this Father’s Day. Check out our “The Fathers Of Reggae/DancehallPlaylist from a few years ago.

David Isaacs "Good Father" on 13thStreetPromotions.com #Jamaica #Ska #Reggae #Music #DavidIsaacs #13thStreetPromotions #LeeScratchPerry #Upsetters #GoodFather #OldiesSunday #FathersDay #HappyFathersDay #Caribbean #1969

OLDIES SUNDAY: David Isaacs – Good Father (1969)

Today around the world, Fathers, Dads, Pops, Papas, Papis, StepFathersUncles, Grandpas, and big Brothers are being celebrated on Father’s Day. While not many see today as a negative one, we celebrate the real Fathers who do everything to have a great presence in the life of their child/children. Today’s Oldies Sunday selection comes from Recording Artist David Isaacs with the track, “Good Father“.

Produced by Lee “Scratch” Perry and released through the Upsetters Label in 1969, David Isaacs shares some of the things a good Father does. David shares his signature vocals throughout with the help of backup Singers, and Lee “Scratch” Perry’s thumping production compliments the song well. Not many songs have been released celebrating Fathers over the years, but appreciation is shown for those that made it to the mainstream.

For those who have been called Deadbeat Fathers, Absent Fathers, “Sperm Donors”, and the like, you need to wise up! There are so many who wish to have their Fathers present but are unable due to tragedies and other reasons, but you chose to abandon those who really need you. There are even some of you who take on the Stepfather role to someone else’s kids while you ignore yours. We could’ve had a lot more songs for Dad had you lot done what you’re supposed to do. If you were called any of the above names, DO BETTER!

thank you David Isaacs for this track! Happy Father’s Day!

NEW VIDEO: @ItsJahmiel – Real Father

JahmielToday’s new video is Reggae artist Jahmiel’s dedication to all the real fathers out there. Titled “Real Father” and directed by Kalila Anderson and Ricardo Williams, Jahmiel sings about the times his father has been there for him and showing respect to all the fathers out there who doing the same for their kids. This video also features cameo appearances from Producer Notnice, Keznamdi, Bugle, Rum Blood of Ward 21, DJ Razz, Richie Feelings, Gyptian, Vybrant, and Clive Hunt. This is a really great song as not many artists dedicate songs for the fathers. Great effort on the video as we see scenes of fathers being around their children and even photos of a younger Jahmiel. A great early Father’s Day tribute. Check out the video below and share your thoughts in the comments section.
