Remember the Black Cowboy FilmThe Harder They Fall“? The Netflix Film was directed by Jeymes Samuel, starred Idris Elba, Regina King, and Jonathan Majors, and instantly became a hit. Samuel is back with a new Film called “The Book Of Clarence“, has brought along a soundtrack that is packed with a few stars including Buju Banton, Shabba Ranks, and Lil Wayne on the track, “Hallelujah Heaven“.

Produced by Jeymes Samuel (Hip Hop heads may know his early work as a part of Production team “The Bullits), “Hallelujah Heaven” is a display of Gospel-tinged sounds, thumping drums, solid lyricism, and great energy from two Jamaican legends, and a New Orleans Hip Hop legend. Buju and Shabba are no strangers to Hip Hop/Dancehall collaborations, and they ensured that their words connect with the people of Earth and the beings in Heaven, and keep the darkness out of the hearts of many. “Hallelujah Heaven” is just one of many tracks that make for a great soundtrack for a Film that is already high on the anticipation. “The Book Of Clarence” stars LaKeith Stanfield, who plays a man in Jerusalem who is down on his luck, and has to go through a series of events in order to have a better life. The Film also stars Teyana Taylor and Omar Sy, and will hit the Theatre screens on January 12, 2024.

Tolga Akcayli Shares Original “Jamaica No Duppy” Anime Trailer, Seeks Crowdfunding Efforts

It’s no secret that Jamaicans love Cartoons. For decades they have been entertained by many kinds that range from 5 minute shorts, to full length movies. There is a percentage of them that love Anime. The Japanese styled Animation has found favour with them thanks to Cable/Satellite TV, VHS, DVD, Print, Video Games, and the Internet over the years. For years there have been discussions for the Island’s best Creatives to make original Anime content with a Jamaican background. While there have been attempts, Vincy Filmmaker Tolga Akcayli looks to make it a reality with his “Jamaica No Duppy – Rise Of The Conqueror” idea.

What originally started as a joke on Social Media platform TikTok, “Jamaica No Duppy” is coming to life, and it needs your help. The Anime focuses on a Samurai who finds himself stranded in Jamaica, and tries to navigate through the Island and its natives in dialogue and other ways. “Jamaica No Duppy” was made possible through years of research and encouragement from Social Media, but like all productions, it costs to put together. Tolga Akcayli made the first major step with a concept trailer that was premiered over the weekend, and is seeking financial help to bring the full Anime to life. The series is still seeking talent, and with the assistance of Crowdfunding platform GoFundMe, Akcayli is campaigning, and you can chip in. Aside from the Anime, Akcayli also wants to launch a limited Manga series in 2024. Want to see Jamaica’s first official Anime? Support the GoFundMe here.

The rollout included the announcement of the sequel to the popular “Black Panther” film called, “Wakanda Forever“. Announced in the form of a teaser, a familiar song was featured in its soundtrack.

For those familiar with Reggae (who wouldn’t at this point?), the lyrics from Bob Marley’s classic, “No Woman No Cry” was heard in the teaser for “Wakanda Forever”. Throughout the over 2 minute teaser, Tems’ cover was played before being mixed into Rapper Kendrick Lamar’sAlright” single. “No Woman No Cry” was written by Bob Marley and Vincent Ford, produced by Chris Blackwell and The Wailers, and was featured on Marley’s 1974 album, “Natty Dread” with The Wailers. A live version of the single was released in 1975, and is considered one of the greatest songs ever made. The track was covered by many including The Fugees, Wizkid, Jimmy Cliff, and Sean Kingston.

Starring Emma Pasarow, Belmont Cameli, and Andie McDowell, this is a Romance/Drama film that finds two Teenagers meeting up nightly to help one experience the fun, carefree teen life before heading off to College. Produced by Steven “Lenky” Marsden on the “Diwali Riddim” (you can find a Playlist dedicated to this Riddim here.), Sean Paul’s “Get Busy” was the summer Dancehall anthem around the world, and was featured on his GRAMMY winning seanmultiplatinum album, “Dutty Rock“.
